Yesterday I ran errands after blogging, and last night was chilly enough that I had to put a blanket on my bed. I thoroughly enjoyed feeling warm without sweating. I’m current with replies, and tomorrow appears routine.

Nevertheless, Republicans are hard at work on their jobs program: moving OUR jobs overseas.
From NY Times: Mitt Romney entered the final months of the presidential campaign with a cash balance of just $35 million, racing to find new large donors and rally low-dollar contributors in August even while he raised tens of millions of dollars for the Republican Party.
Lord Willard? Short of money?!!? What poetic justice!

Yesterday the heat wave ended unexpectedly. I did not mind. Today I have some errands to run, but I should be able to het my blogging done first. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow appears routine.

Poor Lindsey-poo. At his angriest, he’s still just a pitiful little racist.
From NY Times: The drastic melting of Arctic sea ice has finally ended for the year, scientists announced Wednesday, but not before demolishing the previous record — and setting off new warnings about the rapid pace of change in the region.
The apparent low point for 2012 was reached Sunday, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, which said that sea ice that day covered about 1.32 million square miles, or 24 percent, of the surface of the Arctic Ocean. The previous low, set in 2007, was 29 percent.
It doesn’t get much more disturbing than this.

I can abide unlimited individual contributions, IF AND ONLY IF fully disclosed, but I still favor 100% publically financed campaigns. Taking the money out of politics puts the will of the voters back into politics.
From The New Yorker: In what his campaign described today as a bold strategy to insure victory in the Presidential contest, Republican nominee Mitt Romney will undergo a procedure to have his mouth wired shut until Tuesday, November 6th.
The decision reportedly was made in response to the release earlier in the day of rare video footage showing Mr. Romney saying what he really thinks.
They better make sure his butt stays open. Otherwise, he’ll explode!
Yesterday I went for the ultrasound on my bad leg. The lab was tucked away in large strip mall, and I had to walk over half a mile looking for it. They gave me no directions when I scheduled, but had the gall to be irate that I was ten minutes late. The heat was severe and so was my COPD. Today I’m waiting for an O2 delivery, and fell asleep at my desk, which is why this is late. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow appears routine.

From MoveOn: What We Already Knew About The Tea Party And ‘The Newsroom’ Finally Said Out Loud
The big secret about the Tea Party is that there is no Tea Party. They are just the goose-stepping storm trooper brigade of the Republican Party.
From Reuters: Some 800 union delegates representing the 29,000 teachers and support staff in Chicago Public Schools met on Sunday but continued the strike for two days so they could review details of a proposed new contract negotiated with Emanuel.
The meeting on Tuesday will be the second attempt by the union membership to try to get approval from delegates for the compromise deal, which must be approved by a simple majority to suspend the strike.
For the sake of Chicago’s students, I hope the deal is good enough, but if not, I support the teachers!
From CNN: The first eight months of 2012 were the hottest ever recorded in the continental United States and the summer period of June, July and August was the third hottest ever, the National Climatic Data Center reported Monday.
Although the August average of 74.4 degrees Fahrenheit made it only the 16th hottest August on record, the hottest July ever combined with the hottest spring on record to keep January-August 2012 atop the record books.
The nation as a whole is averaging 4 degrees Fahrenheit above average for the year. That’s a full degree higher than the same period in 2006, the second hottest January-August on record. [emphasis added]
Yesterday I finished blogging late and meditated upon the Ellipsoid Orb. I’ll be leaving for an ultrasound on my bad leg shortly. I am not current with replies, and doubt that I can catch up before tomorrow. This is forecast to be the hottest day of the current (and hopefully final) heat wave, and I expect temperatures in my closed-up apartment to be near 100°, when I return. Tomorrow appears hot, but routine.

From MoveOn: Bernie Sanders Slays The GOP ”Debt” Monster With 5 Minutes Of Pure Common Sense
Willard and the 1% have $32 trillion rat holed in offshore tax shelters. That is the money that Republicans promised would trickle down. So Bernie is spot on. Balance the budget on the plutocratic beneficiaries of Supply-side wealth theft: Offshore Willard and his 1% cronies.
From Mediaite: “Everyone keeps talking about this ‘apology tour’ and ‘apologies’ from the President,” said O’Brien. “And I’m trying to find the words “I’m sorry, I apologize’ in any of those speeches — which I have the text of all those speeches in front of me. None of those speeches at all. And if you go to factcheck.org, which we check in a lot, they all say the same thing. They fact check this.”
“I don’t care what Fact Check says,” said King [Peter King (R-NY)].
Peter King is committing sedition and is not concerned with facts.
From Huffington Post: The polling bump produced by the Democratic National Convention appears to have helped more than just President Barack Obama, as two new polls in Massachusetts also show a parallel rise in the standings of Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren.
The two new polls, both released on Sunday, show Warren with slim leads over Republican Senator Scott Brown. The first, conducted by Western New England University’s Polling Institute (WNEU) in partnership with the website MassLive.com, shows Warren leading by 6 percentage points (50 percent to 44 percent). A previous WNEU poll fielded in June had shown Warren with a narrower 2-point edge over Brown (45 percent to 43 percent).
Yesterday I slept, and slept and slept. Except for eating and personal functions, I was out from 2:00 PM until 3:30 AM. While doing my research, I did laundry. (I still HATE laundry!). Today is a ho;y day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, but my Broncos w2ill not be meditating until tomorrow night in Atlanta. I’m current with replies. Tomorrow I have an appointment for ultrasound imaging of my bad leg, so I may have only an Open Thread.

From MoveOn: 6 Well-Kept Secrets About America In One Graphic
Even I didn’t know a couple of these. As a Christian, I favor more protection from cultural domination by Republican Supply-side Jesus hate mongers and fear mongers.
From NY Times: Republicans in tough races are seeking to soften their edges by moderating their votes, tossing their teacups and otherwise projecting a conciliatory image to voters.
The Republican quest for bipartisanship — at least nominally — is not hard to explain. A New York Times/CBS News poll conducted last week and released this weekend showed that 44 percent of Americans see Republicans at fault for gridlock in Washington, compared with 29 percent who blame President Obama and the Democrats. Nineteen percent said both were to blame. That imbalance has persisted at almost exactly those proportions since last year.
Nothing has changed. In RepubliSpeak, bipartisanship still means "turn around and grab your ankles."
Deborah Braillard, age 46, was arrested and booked on a minor drug possession charge in January of 2005. Despite being a diabetic, Braillard was not given insulin or any other medication or medical care for four full days, until she was eventually brought to the hospital in a diabetic coma. She died 18 days later of complications from diabetes, and her family’s civil suit against the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is now proceeding at trial.
Chalk up another coffin for Crazy Joe and the Brewerstan Death Angel, Jan Brewer.
Yesterday I saw my Cardiologist, and she said that my heart passed with flying colors. My left ventricular ejection fraction was 75% at rest and under stress. She thinks the extra beats and tachycardia are completely due to reduced O2 from my COPD. Unfortunately the COPD remained severe yesterday and the heat exceeded the forecast, so I am still way behind on sleep and feeling it. I caught up on replies, but did not answer most individually. Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.

From MoveOn: We Really Wish We Hadn’t Won This Gold Medal
Prison is both the most expensive and the least effective method of corrections, a lesson both parties need to learn.
From NY Times: As four flag-draped coffins bearing the bodies of the Americans killed in Libya arrived in the United States on Friday, new details emerged of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens’s final hours, alone, locked in a smoke-filled room in a diplomatic mission under siege.
In a solemn ceremony at Joint Base Andrews outside the capital, President Obama said the victims “laid down their lives for us all” and vowed to honor their memory by never retreating from the world.
How very sad! Thoughts and prayers for the families, please.
From Alternet: Romney immigration adviser and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is considering banning President Barack Obama from the ballot in his state this fall for a lack of sufficient proof that he was born in the United States.
He and his colleagues on the Kansas’s Objections Board will decide Monday whether to accept the birther-based attempt to debilitate Obama’s re-election. The move was prompted by a Kansas resident’s written complaint that Obama may be lying about where he was born.
I understand that it has been called off, but for such Teabuggery to be pushed by a campaign advisor to a presidential nominee is inexcusable.

From MoveOn: Chris Rock Has A Crystal Clear Analogy For Undecided Voters
How appropriate, because the Republican Party is the cancer that afflicts this nation.
From NY Times: Romney shows no respect for diplomacy in general. He declares that “God did not create this country to be a nation of followers” and maintains that “in an American century, America leads the free world.” [Willard delinked] His surrogates repeatedly mock President Obama’s “apology tour” and his unfortunate “leading from behind” formulation on Libya. His principal advisers, John Bolton and Dan Senor, are part of a neocon hard core that opposes any policy that would diminish American sovereignty or freedom of action. Yet faced with the vexing issue of whether the Middle East should be further roiled by an Israeli attack on Iran in an attempt to stop its nuclear program, Romney is willing to outsource that decision to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
InsaniTEA! We’ve already seen what the Neocons brought us, and Netanyahu in the driver’s seat over Iran is like Hitler in the driver’s seat over Poland!
From The New Yorker: One day after he was roundly criticized by both parties for his comments about Libya, Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney attempted to burnish his foreign-policy credentials today, telling reporters that “no one has spent more time overseas than my money has.”
“My money has served in banks from Switzerland to Bermuda, and from Bermuda to the Cayman Islands,” Mr. Romney said. “I challenge my opponent’s money to equal that record of service.”
He does have a point. His money is far more qualified and worth far more than he is.
