Yesterday I went for the ultrasound on my bad leg.  The lab was tucked away in  large strip mall, and I had to walk over half a mile looking for it.  They gave me no directions when I scheduled, but had the gall to be irate that I was ten minutes late.  The heat was severe and so was my COPD.  Today I’m waiting for an O2 delivery, and fell asleep at my desk, which is why this is late.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow appears routine.

From MoveOn: What We Already Knew About The Tea Party And ‘The Newsroom’ Finally Said Out Loud

The big secret about the Tea Party is that there is no Tea Party. They are just the goose-stepping storm trooper brigade of the Republican Party.

From Reuters: Some 800 union delegates representing the 29,000 teachers and support staff in Chicago Public Schools met on Sunday but continued the strike for two days so they could review details of a proposed new contract negotiated with Emanuel.

The meeting on Tuesday will be the second attempt by the union membership to try to get approval from delegates for the compromise deal, which must be approved by a simple majority to suspend the strike.

For the sake of Chicago’s students, I hope the deal is good enough, but if not, I support the teachers!

From CNN: The first eight months of 2012 were the hottest ever recorded in the continental United States and the summer period of June, July and August was the third hottest ever, the National Climatic Data Center reported Monday.

Although the August average of 74.4 degrees Fahrenheit made it only the 16th hottest August on record, the hottest July ever combined with the hottest spring on record to keep January-August 2012 atop the record books.

The nation as a whole is averaging 4 degrees Fahrenheit above average for the year. That’s a full degree higher than the same period in 2006, the second hottest January-August on record. [emphasis added]

No wonder it’s been such a tough year!

Did Willard consider Seamus a lazy moocher too?

  1. 4:12  Looks like neither one of us could get the bottle uncorked today.  I think the girls will drink it all.

  2. WRT your Cartoon –
Given Rmoney's HUGE gaffe, I think it's safe to say that his dogma just shat all over his karma.

  3. Seamus is probably working in the coal mines right now, earning his keep and paying his taxes.  Tried the puzzle, with teeth gritted, I do not have a lot of patience, did finish, results were about double your Time, Tom.  Better watch out,  I got this now–lol.

    • Gypsy, I'm afraid Seamus has shuffled off this mortal coil.  As for the cartoons, Not long ago, Jerry Patty and Lynn were saying the same thing, and not, I rarely win one.

  4. I feel honored to be "commemorated" – rumors of my death have been highly exaggerated! (So I need a Name) – you're comment says it all! His Karma has got to be a "bitch"!!

  5. Puzzle — 3:02  I guess I am just an old wino!  Actually, at one point in my life, I did a lot of still life paintings and drawings and many, but not all, involved at least one wine bottle.  I became very familiar with wine bottles.

MoveOn — When I looked at the clip, I thought it was Jeff Daniels, but then he gave another name.  As I watched, the clip had the look of a TV programme but of course I was familiar with the content.  Just wasn't adding up until I googled and found that The Newsroom is an HBO series produced by Aaron Sorkin.  American Taliban indeed!   May the current incarnation of the Republican Party become extinct in November 2012!

Reuters — I too am with the teachers.  They do not get enough support for what they are expected to do.  Here in BC, we had a teachers strike that started Sept 2011 and was still going on in May 2012.  The province legislated the teachers back to work after about 2 days, but the teachers withdrew all after school support and didn't do any administrative stuff like report cards.  When seniors needed report cards to apply for university placement, of course the issue came up again.  Report cards have been done and now we're into a new year.  It really was a mess.  I'm not even sure that the dispute is over.

Cartoon — I agree with Seamus.  After all, he depends on daily handouts of welfare kibble from Rmoney!

CNN — That must be why the Republican/Teabaggers are so damn cranky!  They are sweating up a storm but can't admit it is due to climate change because that goes against their unscientific plank — you know the one — the one they will walk when their ship goes down!

  6. Excellent definition of the Republican/Tea Baggers! They are just the Koch brothers' minions.

The teachers were fighting for a good cause. I hope they got what they wanted for the students' sakes.

Climate change is not happening to the people who stick their heads in the sand. Just ask them.

I am a member of the 47% and wonder daily how I will get by. So what if I worked all my life? I'm sure I don't deserve my SS or Medicare. Never mind the amount I pay for a PPO to supplement that Medicare that I am still paying for.
