Yesterday I finished blogging late and meditated upon the Ellipsoid Orb.  I’ll be leaving for an ultrasound on my bad leg shortly.  I am not current with replies, and doubt that I can catch up before tomorrow.  This is forecast to be the hottest day of the current (and hopefully final) heat wave, and I expect temperatures in my closed-up apartment to be near 100°, when I return.  Tomorrow appears hot, but routine.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 6:14 (average 6:34).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?  I stunk!!

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: Bernie Sanders Slays The GOP ”Debt” Monster With 5 Minutes Of Pure Common Sense

Willard and the 1% have $32 trillion rat holed in offshore tax shelters. That is the money that Republicans promised would trickle down. So Bernie is spot on. Balance the budget on the plutocratic beneficiaries of Supply-side wealth theft: Offshore Willard and his 1% cronies.

From Mediaite: “Everyone keeps talking about this ‘apology tour’ and ‘apologies’ from the President,” said O’Brien. “And I’m trying to find the words “I’m sorry, I apologize’ in any of those speeches — which I have the text of all those speeches in front of me. None of those speeches at all. And if you go to factcheck.org, which we check in a lot, they all say the same thing. They fact check this.”

“I don’t care what Fact Check says,” said King [Peter King (R-NY)].

Peter King is committing sedition and is not concerned with facts.

From Huffington Post: The polling bump produced by the Democratic National Convention appears to have helped more than just President Barack Obama, as two new polls in Massachusetts also show a parallel rise in the standings of Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren.

The two new polls, both released on Sunday, show Warren with slim leads over Republican Senator Scott Brown. The first, conducted by Western New England University’s Polling Institute (WNEU) in partnership with the website MassLive.com, shows Warren leading by 6 percentage points (50 percent to 44 percent). A previous WNEU poll fielded in June had shown Warren with a narrower 2-point edge over Brown (45 percent to 43 percent).

That is wonderful news!!

  1. Rmoney Is TOAST!

Thanks to Mother Jones' Secret Video of Willard Saying We Are ALL Welfare Queens Now
I am looking forward to TC's dissection of Rmoney being videoed while fundraising with his Millionaire & Billionaire cronies when he opined that:
    We all don't pay taxes
    We all don't work
We all expect government to do everything for us
AND without doing a GODDAMN thing Mittens will cure our economic woes.  Just listen to him (there's YouTube video at the Link)

"My own view is that if we win on November 6th, there will be a great deal of optimism about the future of this country. We'll see capital come back and we'll see—without actually doing anything—we'll actually get a boost in the economy."

  2. Hi there brother Tom! Long time no chat with you. I just want to make sure that your readers get a chance to see what Mitt Romney was caught saying .. on a hidden video cam .. to a group of rich GOP donors … pretty shocking stuff.

Romney Writes Off 47% of Americans

    •  Thanks Buckdog!  Picked this up from your comment on Politics Plus. — I tried to leave it on your site but my FB sign in wouldn't work even though I was in there 2 days ago.

As a fellow Canadian, I have been watching the US campaign closely for several reasons, the main two being the effect the US has on the rest of the world, and Harper and his harlots are trying to remake Canada by stealth and using former US president Baby Bush as his template.

From this and many other things I've seen over the past 18 months, Baby Bush is a bloody moderate compared to Romney.  Romney is the most disingenuous person and the most incompetent potential president I have ever seen.  To see he has taken this elitist tone in private, but publicly is trying to come off as a moderate in order to woo the5-10% of independents is the height of his perfidy.

A Romney in the White House will be a disaster for all true Americans.

    • DAWG!!!  😀  It's been a while since you dug in the kitty box!!

That was an excellent announcement!  Mine will be today's lead article.

  3. Puzzle — 4:33 but what a fish story!  Look at it this way TC, you were under the average!

MoveOn — Have to love Bernie!  Tells it as it is and is spot on!

Mediaite — Soledad sure did keep King's feet to the fire!  What a pitbull!  Good on her!  King and the rest of his GOP cronies are unapologetic purveyors of Manifest Destiny.  What a bunch of assholes!  May they all be consigned to political hell.

Huffington Post — Go Elizabeth Warren!  She was able to touch more people by that one speech than she could have in townhall meetings etc.

Cartoon — 23,000 deaths combined for Union and Confederate forces all in one day!  The day Antietam Creek ran red!  I wonder what the Civil War would have looked like had McClelland committed more Union troops and defeated Lee's army that day rather than being cautious and frittering away an advantage?

    • For that puzzle, your time is amazing!

      Yep!

Anymore, she seems to be the only fresh air in what has become the CNN stench.

      Let's just hope it holds!

In that case, I think another Civil War battle would take it's place.

      • Probably Gettysburg. Imagine what the butcher's bill would have been like if, when Dr. Gatling offered his invention to the Union army, they had been quicker to adopt it.

        • I shudder to think of it.  As it was, 18th century tactics had not caught up to 19th century weaponry.

          • A characteristic of pretty much every war ever fought – technology generally outstrips tactics, usually at the expense of the troops on the pointy end of the stick.

            • That's certainly true, but I think it was more so in the civil war than most because it was the last throes of massed infantry in formation in the open field.

  4. Bernie Sanders' talk would be wonderful if everyone was required to listen to it prior to voting in November. Not a single RepublicanT would win if that were to happen. It's a happy dream.

Soledad was brilliant. She was getting really frustrated with Rep. King. She probably wanted to strangle him. I know I did.

I hope the bumps keep coming. The secret video obtained by Mother Jones should do a bit to give another little bump to our President and the rest of the Democrats running. That's if people pay attention…
