From Alternet: Dozens of Florida voters and others residing in heavily-Democratic counties across several states have received threatening emails warning them to vote for President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election or suffer consequences.

Ahead of early voting, Democratic voters in Alachua County, Fla., began receiving the disturbing emails. Voters in Alaska and Arizona also reported receiving the same message.

The subject line for the email reads: “Vote for Trump or else!”

Targeting voters registered as Democrats, the email message opens with a disturbing statement telling potential voters all of their personal information has been exposed as the sender claims to have infiltrated the “entire voting infrastructure.”

The sender also warned Democrats to vote for Trump or they would “come after” them. Voters are also being told to change their political party affiliation so it can serve as confirmation of agreement to the terms of the threat.

“We are in possession of all your information (email, address, telephone… everything),” the message stated. “You are currently registered as a Democrat and we know this because we have gained access into the entire voting infrastructure. You will vote for Trump on Election Day or we will come after you. Change your party affiliation to Republican to let us know you received our message and will comply. We will know which candidate you voted for. I would take this seriously if I were you.”

Here is a perfect example of international cooperation, Republican Style. White House staffers prepare the threats, the Republican Party provides the email list, and the SVR (current name of KGB) provide the servers, and all join forces to blackmail voters with fraudulent claims. RESIST!!

It’s a hectic week, here in the CatBox. Today, I want to get as much rest as I can. Tomorrow, WWWendy works at both her day and night job, and Dianna, my home palliative care nurse is on vacation, so Anne, my alternate home palliative care nurse is coming to change my patch. Thursday morning, WWWendy is coming a day late to destink the raunchy TomCat, help with chores, and semi-goop. It’s also grocery delivery day from Store to Door. First thing Friday morning, WWWendy is taking me to the hospital for a CAT Scan, and we’ll pick up a pizza on the Way home. Saturday morning is my regular WWWendy Day, and Tuesday morning WWWendy is taking me for my next infusion or for Evelyn to tell me they aren’t helping (the news we DON’T want). In any case, color me intermittent at best for a week. Is that hectic enough? It’s Tuesday so Vote Blue No Matter Who Top to Bottom to flush your Republicans!

From SCOTUS Blog: A deadlocked Supreme Court on Monday let stand a lower-court ruling that requires Pennsylvania election officials to count absentee ballots received within three days after Election Day, Nov. 3, even if they are not postmarked. In two brief orders issued shortly after 7 p.m., the justices denied, without explanation, a request by Republicans to put the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s ruling on hold. Four justices – Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh – indicated that they would have granted the Republicans’ request.

The order came in a lawsuit filed by the Pennsylvania Democratic Party that challenged various aspects of the state’s absentee-ballot system in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Last month, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, citing a voting-rights provision of the state’s constitution, ordered several modifications to voting rules, including extending the deadline by which mail-in ballots must be received in order for them to be counted. Previously, that deadline was Election Day, but the state court ruled that ballots should be counted if they are received up to three days after Election Day unless a “preponderance of the evidence” shows that a ballot was mailed after Election Day. That means that ballots lacking clear postmarks may be counted if received by Nov. 6. [emphasis added]

It’s a very tired day, here in the CatBox. WWWendy and I got home safely last night, after my infusion. We are scheduling another infusion, which we may cancel. In around three weeks I’ll have a CAT-Scan or a PET-Scan to judge whether the immunotherapy is working and go from there. I did research early this morning and took a long nap. I’m ready to go back to bed. Tomorrow is a grocery delivery day. This evening I plan to try to stay up to watch the slaughter. You guys had better do so too, in case I don’t make it. Happy Hump Day!

From The New Yorker: Mike Pence said that he was “extremely grateful” that the organizers of Wednesday night’s Vice-Presidential debate would be providing a plexiglass shield to protect him from a woman.

Speaking to reporters, Pence said that the Commission on Presidential Debates had taken “appropriate measures” to shield him from exposure to a female during the Salt Lake City face-off.

“I’ve read all the relevant literature, and from what I’ve learned a plexiglass shield provides adequate protection from a woman,” he said. “Knowing that this barrier exists between me and a member of the opposite sex, I feel comfortable about moving forward with the debate.”

It’s a busy day here in the CatBox. Diana is coming this morning to check on me, so as long as I have to be up, here is a full Open Thread. Tomorrow please expect only a minimal Personal Update. I go to the hospital tomorrow afternoon for my next infusion. I’ll take the TriMet Lift Bus to the Hospital. WWWendy will get me home between 6:00 and 6:30, after which we have a full WWWendy day to do. Therefore it’s likely that I’ll be too tired on Wednesday to do much then either. Oh God, it’s Monday!

From Alternet: The case for Medicare for All was once again made by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, Sen. Ed Markey tweeted on Sunday, after Republican politicians were able to check themselves into hospitals shortly after announcing they had tested positive for Covid-19.

Markey noted that throughout the coronavirus pandemic, in which more than 7.4 million cases have been detected and more than 209,000 people in the U.S. have died, people have attempted to get care at hospitals after testing positive and showing worsening symptoms, only to be turned away and “told only to come back when they could not breathe.”

“Now politicians are checking into hospitals as a ‘precaution.’ Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege,” Markey wrote. “We need Medicare for All.”

The senator’s statement came a day after former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a member of the president’s debate prep team this past week, announced he was checking himself into Morristown Medical Center after testing positive on Saturday.

“While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure,” Christie tweeted.

This is so typical of RepubliCare, the Republican replacement for ObamaCare. Rich Republicans get care. The rest of us get the RepubliCare Death Benefit. We get to die. RESIST!!

I’m sure I don’t have it, but if I do, I leave my mortal remains, after they rot a bit, to criminal Fuhrer Trump*. He can mix them with his hamberders and Clorox. This is my only article today Diana is due shortly. What I do tomorrow will depend on how I feel. Oh God! It’s Monday!

From Crooks and Liars: A hair-raising article in Bellingcat details what has been learned from chat logs of the Patriot Coalition of Oregon, thanks to an Antifa infiltrator. Journalists Robert Evans and Jason Wilson describe the group as part of a growing network “increasingly organizing around direct physical confrontations with leftist protesters in Portland and other American cities.”

The leaked chat logs appear to reveal that some members of the Patriot Coalition have taken part in multiple violent rallies throughout the summer, and that they claim to have operated a series of vigilante patrols and checkpoints during the Oregon wildfires. While the chats appear to show they work and fight alongside members of extremist groups like the Proud Boys, American Wolf and 1776 2.0, the Patriot Coalition seems to have no coherent ideology beyond a desire to violently confront leftists in the name of the police and President Trump. A user identified as Paige summed up the general feelings of the group in a post made ahead of a what turned out to be a bloody ‘Back the Blue’ rally on August 22nd in Portland when she wrote: “I’m waiting for the presidential go to start open firing.”

Discussions of violence in the Patriot Coalition group chat are not hypothetical. While some individuals are likely grandstanding, the chat logs show members gearing up for a number of events where very real violence occurred.

On August 22nd more than 300 heavily armed right-wing demonstrators rallied in downtown Portland for what was, nominally, a rally supporting the police. Yet the situation quickly degenerated into a mass brawl, with numerous injuries (including to one of the authors of this article).

Those events reflected the plans that Patriot Coalition had made. In the lead up, members discussed acquiring paintball guns and freezing their ammunition for maximum damage.

One of the many, many horrifying comments obtained from the group reads, “The only real way to end it is start shooting everyone of them. Fists and pepper spray are fun but don’t get the job done. I think sooner or later it’s coming. Our governor and the coward mayor of Portland will let it go on till November. If we don’t take care of it ourselves. Then there’s the whole prison thing I don’t quite like. So your damned if do damned if you don’t.”

Because tomorrow is such a gruesome day here in the CatBox, I want to spend as much time as I can in bed today. I just finished my video conference with the doctor. Dr. DeMeester has me tentatively scheduled for an operation to install a stent a week from tomorrow. I need a Trump* virus test by Mon. I’m trying to find a way to get that. Happy Hump Day!

It’s become a hectic week here in the CatBox. Diana was late yesterday, but when she got here, she built a fire under my Oncologist’s office and the Stent surgeon’s office. Becky met WWWendy when she arrived at the hospital to pick up my patches, and changed me from 25 mg Fentanyl patches to 50 mg. My pain level is much lower. The stent surgeon’s office called and scheduled me for a video conference with the doctor at 7:30 AM tomorrow. They will determine whether they want to to do a dilation or a stent and schedule the procedure ASAP. If that isn’t crazy enough, WWWendy and I forgot that she scheduled an appointment to go to DMV to renew my Oregon ID at 4:30 on Thursday. We won’t even start the shower and gooping until we get back. On top of everything else, my AC is acting up again. This is my only article today, and I’ll have to play the rest of the week by ear. Tuesday is flush your Republicans day.
