It’s a very tired day, here in the CatBox.  WWWendy and I got home safely last night, after my infusion.  We are scheduling another infusion, which we may cancel.  In around three weeks I’ll have a CAT-Scan or a PET-Scan to judge whether the immunotherapy is working and go from there.  I did research early this morning and took a long nap.  I’m ready to go back to bed.  Tomorrow is a grocery delivery day.  This evening I plan to try to stay up to watch the slaughter.  You guys had better do so too, in case I don’t make it.  Happy Hump Day!

US Cases: 7,726,635

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Mike Pence said that he was “extremely grateful” that the organizers of Wednesday night’s Vice-Presidential debate would be providing a plexiglass shield to protect him from a woman.

Speaking to reporters, Pence said that the Commission on Presidential Debates had taken “appropriate measures” to shield him from exposure to a female during the Salt Lake City face-off.

“I’ve read all the relevant literature, and from what I’ve learned a plexiglass shield provides adequate protection from a woman,” he said. “Knowing that this barrier exists between me and a member of the opposite sex, I feel comfortable about moving forward with the debate.”

Dang, Andy! Nothing can protect that lying Nazi pseudo-Christian! Kamala is going to tear Mr. Karen a new sphincter!  RESIST!!

  1. Oh, I can’t wait to see what Nameless and dave c have to say about this:
Grilled On Fox News, WH Aide Insists Misleading The Public Is ‘A Common Medical Practice’”

I’m impressed that you felt up to an open thread. Ging back to bed sounds like the right thing to do. Due to the time zones you (and to a lesser extent I) live in, we have a better chance of staying awake than if we were on the East Coast. I’d love to schedule a grocery delivery, but they are out of the thing I need most and am almost out of. I may need to start my backup plan to help get me through.

Cartoon – I trust when he sent his goons to Portland they didn’t try to grab you.

TVU – That red part of Alaska doesn;t have many people, so in one way that’s not a lot of cases, but on the other hand, the peole there are mostly native Americans and probably more vulnerable. That grieves me.

Debate – I do indeed feel she is. But with a blade so sharp he may not realize it at first.

MSNBC – And they wonder why so many Republicans have CoViD compared to Democrats. It must be that secret briefing (snicker)

Not to be (too) snotty, but we don’t pay teachers enough for them to teach kids to think.

So, here we have a lovely example of the WH “Misleading The Public!”  It’s a good thing for those who work there that the Pinocchio syndrome is only a fairy tale, or they’d be going around with noses like old-fashioned lances for jousting!
Much of the country, the red parts, anyway, does NOT WANT their kids to learn to think, sadly.

  2. Cartoon: Claws out!! and Hands off!
TVU: The deaths have gone up to 30. sad!
NYer: Mrs. ‘Mother’ will be there, doing the measurements of the plexiglass and confirming the specifics of staying away from Ms. Harris…and yes, she will have a field day! with Pence.
MSNBC: Counted 23 on screen from Rachel’s covid list. I’m sure that there are more scuttling around too. Not including the kitchen, housekeeping, and gardeners.
BFTP: Remember when this came out… love Pink Floyd, good song.
Sounds like you had a very busy day yesterday. Glad that you & WWWendy got home safely. Get your rest, take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom. Nap, and relax! Mailed in hub’s and my ballot by mail, and got two stickers that said so. YAY!

*This just in: “The San Diego Unified School District is removing letters from President Donald Trump that his administration placed inside food boxes as part of a federal coronavirus relief program for families in need. WTG! San Diego! ~ Gina H. ~
    2. “The 2020 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to three scientists in Physics. British physicist Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez. ~ DB ~ Jamie Ross ~
    3. “I will raise hope, not fear. Peace, not violence. Generosity and light, not darkness. I’ll be a President who appeals to the best of us, not the worse.” ~ Joe Biden @ Gettysburg ~
    4. “Anyone hailing from an authoritarian country is horrified by that Trump video, as should be anyone who values democracy over demagoguery. The staging, the boasting, the disregard for people’s lives. He won’t ever change. He must go!” ~ Gary Kasparov ~
    5. “Dr. Sean Conley may have broken ‘duty to warn’ and ‘duty to protect’ laws. At the very least, he may be legally liable for releasing a patient who is a danger both to himself and to others.” ~ Dr. Bandy Lee ~

  3. ‘Toon: Sharpen those claws!
TVU: Washington, D.C. is having its very own, very lovely, flare-up!
New Yorker: I’m sure Pence will bring “Mommy” along to supervise.  Harris ought to turn the bastard inside out.
Rachel: A reporter was herd asking dumpy whether, or not, he is a “super spreader.”  He made like he never heard the question.
I love me some Pink Floyd, and saw the movie when it first came out. This piece is about the dystopia that has descended upon the U.S.

  4. Sounds like you have a plan healthcare-wise, TomCat. I gather I can’t get my limbs and appendages unstuck for another 3 weeks?

    2:49 Horrid background.

Cartoon: He’s got to keep his hands to himself, (cute) pussy or not.

TVU: Very little change, is there?

TNY: I hope they managed to put in some protection for Kamala too: a few nice big barf bags wouldn’t go amiss. And some blinds to close when his sanctimonious face combined with his hypocritical BS becomes too much?

MSNBC: How about the housemaids, the butlers, the cleaners and all the other staff necessary to keep in an institution like the WH running? They’re in very close contact with all those mentioned by Rachel. The WH probably doesn’t test them and pretends they have the flu. Which is much more dangerous than COVID-19, I hear.

BFTP: I’ve been quite a Pink Floyd fan from their very beginnings and there are quite a few of their albums still stashed in the shed. Brick in the Wall has been apt for a long time and has seen a re-release but with the dumbing down of America, another would be welcome.

  5. Cartoon: Beware…We’re ready to fight.
TVU: 353 new cases which brings us to 49,175 with 7 new deaths so we’re up to 813 deaths.
NY: pEnce won’t match up to Kamala. She’s had so much experience with dealing with fools like him when she was a District Attorney.
MSNBC: tRump is so heartless the way he knew that he was infected and yet goes out and around so many others. Really has a lot of flipping nerve. I know that if I was one who worked at the W.H., cooks, servants etc, I would rebel and not go in.
BFTP: I have always been a big fan of Pink Floyd. Great group with lots of wonderful music/songs.
Glad you and Wendy made it back safely. Sure hope that you’re getting all the rest that you need, TC.
I for some odd reason couldn’t get to sleep last night. I think I finally fell asleep at 4:00 AM. Had errands to do today, so was out till close to 6:00. I’m recording the debate tonight, so I can watch it a little later on. Was watching the playouts to see if my Padres will make it to the World Series. They lost last night. They’re playing the LA Dodgers. Whoever wins 3 of 5 gets to go to the World Series.
So take care and hope your groceries come on time without any problems tomorrow.
    Thanks TomCat

  6. Thanks and pooped hugs to all! 19
