Today’s article will be different than the usual “Friday Fun” because of a major snafu on the part of the GOP.  Rather than actually do the hard work of sitting down and drafting a new Platform for 2020 – they decided to just recycle the old 2016 one.  And it’s the most truthful thing the Repubicans have ever published!

Because of the kerfuffle over Trump demanding to relish the adulation and genuflection of his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging Trumpkins at a GOP coronation convention, combined with his being immune to Gov. Roy Cooper’s (D-NC) common sense efforts to try to explain to him that there IS STILL AN ON-GOING PANDEMIC, Trump demanded the convention be moved from Charlotte to Jacksonville.

In light of this fiasco and logistical nightmare, the RNC’s Executive Committee decided to cut corners and simply voted to keep the 2016 Platform.

In fact, a GOP Platform Committee spokesperson, Melody Potter, told the NY Times it’s “the best one we’ve had in 40 years, so I’m fine with renewing it and extending it to 2024.  As a matter of fact, and you can quote me on this, I think it is a ray of sunshine in this whole messy storm.”

Well, Melody is obviously not up to speed on what’s actually in the 2016 Platform …

“because there are more than three dozen unflattering references to either the “current president,” “current chief executive,” “current administration,” people “currently in control” of policy, or the “current occupant” of the White House that appear in the Republican platform.

So let’s enjoy a few of these gems describing what a disastrous president Trump truly has been.  In fact, in the Comments I hope you’ll select and share with us what you think the best paragraph is:

[1] “The huge increase in the national debt demanded by and incurred during the current Administration has placed a significant burden on future generations.”

[2] “The current Administration has exceeded its constitutional authority, brazenly and flagrantly violated the separation of powers, sought to divide America into groups and turn citizen against citizen.”

[3] “The next president must restore the public’s trust in law enforcement and civil order by first adhering to the rule of law himself.”

[4] “The current Administration has abandoned America’s friends and rewarded its enemies.”

[5] “The President has refused to defend or enforce laws he does not like, used executive orders to enact national policies in areas constitutionally reserved solely to Congress, made unconstitutional ‘recess’ appointments to Senate-confirmed positions, directed regulatory agencies to overstep their statutory authority, and failed to consult Congress regarding military action overseas.”

[6] “We further affirm that courts should interpret laws as written by Congress rather than allowing executive agencies to rewrite those laws to suit administration priorities.”

[7] “The survival of the internet as we know it is at risk. Its gravest peril originates in the White House, the current occupant of which has launched a campaign, both at home and internationally, to subjugate it to agents of government.”

All are taken from the 2016/2020 GOP Platform:

https://int.nyt.com/data/documenthelper/7019-republican-platform/cc2c15a0e1b432d6964b/optimized/full.pdf#page=1

While they all have our heads nodding in agreement, I think we can also agree that a mistake of this magnitude is NOT your garden variety incompetence – this is incompetence taken to a whole new level … even for Trump & Repubicans!

Oh, and a heads up WRT the George Floyd demonstrations … I just want you to know that if Trump comes out of his bunker and sees his shadow, there’ll be six more weeks of protests.

It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  A Providence Home Health Nurse is coming for san initial evaluation.  Tomorrow is a WWWendy day, and we have lots of chores, so please expect no more than a Personal Update from me,  This is my only article today.  TGIF!

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: In a series of angry tweets on Thursday, Donald J. Trump lashed out at the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, declaring, “This is not the military I avoided serving in.”

Calling Milley’s apology for appearing in last week’s controversial church photo op “a disgrace,” Trump said, “The United States military of my youth was known for courage and valor, which is why I got a podiatrist’s note to get out of being a part of it.”

Recalling that episode from a half century ago, Trump said, “As I watched my podiatrist dictate that note, I thought about the great institution of the U.S. military, which I would be exempted from participating in. That institution is unrecognizable today.”

Andy, he’s lying again. The military certainly is still recognizable. It is the Republican Party of Lincoln, after transforming into the Republican Reich, that is not recognizable.  RESIST!!

From CNN: Attendees of President Donald Trump’s upcoming rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, must agree not to sue the campaign if they contract coronavirus.

Rallygoers are asked to RSVP to gain admission to the event and by registering, they must agree to a disclaimer that states they acknowledge the “inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.”

“By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury,” the disclaimer reads.

What hypocrisy! Criminal Fuhrer Trump* and the Republican Reich have been screaming since the beginning that danger from COVID-19, aka Trump* virus, is a hoax foisted on America by Democrats. Even more incredible, in spite of this, Republican Sheeple have such BAAA-A-A-A-A-AAD judgement that they will sign it without hesitation. What stupidity!  RESIST!!

It’s that time of week again, and here are three fine video clips from Sam’s show last night.  Enjoy!!

America’s Long-Standing Tradition of Police Brutality

Republicans falsely claim that it’s a just few bad apples. That’s a lie. There are enough bad cops that the good cops are afraid to stand up to them.

Legislating Healing and Justice with Ayanna Pressley

Kudos to Ayanna Pressley. We need to replace Bought Bitch Midnight Moscow Mitch and all Republican Senators with people like her!

It’s Time to Defund the Police

If by “defund the police” we mean muzzling police unions, repurposing funds going to military equipment for police to help the community, and red-lining expenditures for programs that Republican police use to terrorize citizens, I’m all for it.  The Republican contention that this means leaving us without police protection is a lie.

Good one, Sam!

It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  Store to Door  should be delivering groceries within the next two hours.  Sometime tomorrow morning, I have a visit here from a Providence Home Health Nurse to determine what additional care I may need.  My participation here depends on when it is and how long it takes.  Have a great day!

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Announcing that he was putting the nation on a “double-red threat level,” Donald J. Trump warned the American people on Tuesday to be on the lookout for terrorists posing as peaceful seventy-five-year-olds.

“One of these terrorists was already identified by the police in Buffalo,” Trump said. “They may be coming to your town next.”

Trump listed some “telltale signs of Antifa,” in order to help Americans identify septuagenarian terrorists in their midst.

“If the person appears to be seventy-five or older, with white hair and a peaceful demeanor, call the authorities immediately,” Trump said.

Dang, Andy! That’s straight news again!  RESIST!!

From Alternet: More than 1,250 former Department of Justice employees on Wednesday called on the department’s inspector general to open an investigation into reports that Attorney General William Barr personally ordered the tear-gassing of protesters in Washington, D.C. on June 1.

The former employees wrote that Inspector General Michael Horowitz must get to the bottom of Barr’s involvement in the dispersing of the crowd, which was part of the nationwide uprising against racial injustice following the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor…

…The Washington Post reported last week that Barr directed law enforcement officers on the ground to deploy tear gas, rubber bullets, and stun grenades at protesters just before President Donald Trump walked through the park to get to a nearby church for a photo-op.

Barrf needs more than investigation. He needs a long prison term!  RESIST!!

I don’t have to tell you how much Republicans love insane conspiracy theories.  In fact they are so full of crap, they don’t even have a BS in Bullshitology.  They have a PhD (piled higher and deeper)!

0610TrumpConspiracy

President Donald Trump ignited fresh controversy over his hard-line “law and order” push Tuesday by peddling yet another unfounded conspiracy theory, this time trying to raise suspicions about a 75-year-old protester who was hospitalized after being shoved by police and falling.

Trump tweeted without evidence that the confrontation in Buffalo, New York, may have been a “set up” as he once again sided with police officers over protesters and demonstrated anew his willingness to spread and amplify bogus charges cooked up by far-right outlets.

The move comes as Trump, who has labeled himself “your president of law and order,” has taken a tough line against the protesters who have been demonstrating across the nation following the killing of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis after a white police officer pressed a knee into his neck…

Trump Tweets An Attack On A Protester As George Floyd Is Laid To Rest

Cuomo says it all. Criminal Fuhrer Trump* certainly is reprehensible! But the rest of the Republican Reich is just as bad.

Watch GOP senators dodge questions about Trump’s tweet

There can be no questions that these Republican bastards know how horrid their Fuhrer’s behavior has been. They are too cowardly to stand up to him, and their reasons for wanting protestors tortured by police are related to greed, power, and racism, not loony conspiracy theories.  Now, here a clip for contrast.

Biden’s Response Is The Response Americans On Both Sides Are Used To: Joe

That is the kind of response America would have had from a real President. Isn’t if shameful that Putin [R-RU] and the Republican Reich stole the White House for a fake Resident. What more is there to say? Do this!

It’s a tired day here in the CatBox.  Yesterday I had my PET Scan, and the test went well.  This time they bundled me very well with blankets, but I remembered the other thing I hate.  I’m a very itchy person and to have to lay still for over a half hour, itching in a dozen places I could not scratch was pure torture.  When we returned home, I ate lunch, took my shower, and got to bed for my nap quite late.  So I had supper late too, and by the time I crawled into bed for the night, it was completely dark.  I had a severe gas attack.  Lo and behold, it was so radioactive that it glowed in the dark.  The green cloud found a crack in the window frame, moved outside, and streamed off to the north.  That Sasquatch had better turn on her Geiger counter!  Happy Hump Day to all!

From The New Yorker: Furious at Mitt Romney for participating in a Black Lives Matter march, Donald J. Trump declared on Monday that the Utah senator is “not welcome in my bunker.”

“Mitt Romney thinks he’s cute, first voting to impeach me and now marching,” Trump told reporters. “Well, I’ve got news for Mitt: his invitation to my bunker is hereby revoked.”

Trump said that, because of his disloyalty, Romney “will never experience all that the best bunker in the world has to offer.”

“There are luxury recliners, televisions as far as the eye can see, and a bottomless pit of snacks,” Trump boasted. “If Mitt could see what he’s missing, I’ll bet he’d rethink some of the cute things he’s done.”

Dang, Andy! If Little Lord Willard keeps this up, he may even get a blessing from Seamus in dawg heaven!  RESIST!!

From Politico: But in a sign of how Trump’s reelection prospects have weakened across the country, even the heartland may be having second thoughts.

Since the start of the year, Democrats in Iowa have added about twice as many active voters to their rolls as Republicans, nudging ahead in total registration for the first time in years. The farm economy has been battered by the coronavirus pandemic. And though Trump still holds a small lead in the state, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average, he’s now airing TV advertisements there — a tacit acknowledgment that the campaign anticipates a contest.

When the Republican Reich has to spend money in places they considered a sure win, that has to help open other doors for Democrats!  RESIST!!

Here is the one hundred seventy-fifth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is an unnamed Portland police officer. He is so honored for beating and pepper-spraying a reporter for having the audacity to film his Republican brother officers illegally torturing a black demonstrator like the Republican Nazis they are.

0608PigsAttackA Portland freelance reporter has penned an account of being beaten and pepper-sprayed by police officers while trying to film them making an arrest last night.

Video taken from a helicopter by WW’s news partner KATU-TV around 11:45 pm on June 6 shows a person filming police in Chapman Square, until an officer turns to him, hits him with a baton and twice pepper-sprays him in the face.

Donovan Farley, a longtime contributor to WW’s Arts & Culture section, says he was that person. His account matches what’s shown in the helicopter video.

Farley says in his account that he approached the scene because he heard a protester say he could not breathe as police officers were forcefully arresting him on the ground. Farley alleges the methods police used to make the arrest resembled those that Minneapolis police applied that killed George Floyd.

“As the man sputtered and spit and gasped, I, for reasons that I’m sure are clear, shouted to get the fuck off his neck,” Farley recalls. “This is the moment a fourth officer approached, reaching for his baton.”… [emphasis added]

Here’s the included video.

Although Portland is one of the nation’s most liberal cities, our history of police misconduct, especially against Blacks leaves much to be desired.  Portland, like many cities, needs a citizen review board with teeth.
