American Bridge has four ads, aimed at Senators in four states – Arizona, North Carolina, Iowa, and Georgia. Freya’s in Georgia, so I’m using that one.

Meidas Touch – More on “playing it down”

Really American – “Trump Doesn’t Care” – speaks for itself.

RVAT – This is long – over eleven minutes – but it’s also pretty comprehensive. Most of their videos feature one person each.

Sound and Fury for the Democratic Coalition – Of all Trump*’s issues, I wouldn’t have picked football as the hill to die on – but obviously, some people would.

Beau has a lot to say about Woodward and what he has exposed – four or five videos just on that -and I think this gem is in danger of not getting the attention it deserves.

“My boat sank in Lake Travis” – Brent is actually a satirist, making fun of MAGAts. He does it so well it can be tough to tell. (The boat was the “SS MAGAritaville,” which might be a clue.)

Vaccine I – And the reality is, even if there is a vaccine by, say, the end of the year – that doesn’t mean it will be available by the end of the year. After it it deemed successful and approved, then they have to make enough of it. Expecting anything else is like thinking that if you cook dinner for your family tonight, you can feed to whole town with it. Noises are being made about vaccinating those with pre-existing conditions first. No thank you! I have participated in product testing, but not for anything this critical, and I am not interested.

Vaccine II – This is a good (oversimplified but good) explanation of how vaccines, and any pharmaceutical for that matter, gets developed. (I’m glad she brought up Henrietta Lacks – probably the person in history who saved the most people’s lives without ever having given consent.) Also the importance of effectiveness at a higher level than 44%

Police in Schools – I said this on the open thread, but it bears repeating – in my school district, a teacher called the police on, and suspended, a black student for having a toy gun in his own home – yes, the class was on line. AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHhhh !!!

Quarantine and School – Quarantine is tough with kids (and not just for the parents who wouldn’t have had them if they had known they would have to raise them themselves.) There’s a lot to think about here, (But there’s still no excuse for calling the cops on a black kid who has a toy gun in his own home@)

Open Thread – 9/10/2020

It’s a busy, exhausted day here in the CatBox.  Yesterday’s test infusion went as exspected.  However, I did get some news that may be good.  I had thought that my difficulty eating was a sign that my esophageal cancer is getting worse.  That may be true.  However, if my immune system is attacking the tumor, which is how this drug is supposed to work, it could cause the tumor to swell, just as any wound swells when one’s immune system is healing it.  So my trouble eating could also be a sign that the drug is working.  Time will tell.  Either way, if if the tumor closes to the extent that I cannot eat, I’ll have to get a stent quickly.  Tomorrow Deborah is coming for my routine doctor visit.  What I do tomorrow will depend on how long that takes and how I feel.  This is my only article today.  Have a fine day.  JD, would you please cover Sam?

Last night on the way home from my cancer treatment my eyes stung, and the sky was orange-brown. I could look directly at the sun, and it was red. WWWendy was worried that she might have to evacuate. She had been notified that her house is in a Level 1 area. Thank God she didn’t have to go!  I can see from my window that we still have heavy smoke, but the wind has abated, so that will help the firefighters.  The extreme severity of the wildfires this year is a result of how the Republican Reich ignores climate change and opposes green energy.  RESIST!!

Just to let everyone know, I am finding that if I put these threads up in the early to mid afternoon, I can catch more when they are newer. So that’s why.

Robert Reich – “Law and Order” – I figured TC would not have time to post and comment on this, Not sure what to say except that the Reich on the left is right – again.

This is longish (~5 minutes) but it is worth everyone’s time. A hanky or tissue may be needed – in case one gets a sense watching it of how critically important this is.

I love it when cartoonists tweet out their work so I can embed it. And I still love David Horsey, but when Luckovich nails it, he REALLY nails it.

Obviously advertisers spent the weekend getting ready to release a s***storm today. So I added a couple of upbeat ones.

American Bridge – As he says, you don’t have to like him. But I wish every American could hear this.

Meidas Touch – Oh, I think he has it. I’m not convinced he “suffers” from it.

Really American is coming a bit late to the party, but that may help us not to forget.

Sound and Fury Messaging for The Democratic Coalition – This ad references Breonna Taylor. It’s a bit different from the ones which cover broad issues, but IMO that’s a good thing.

The Lincoln Project – “Radicalize” So glad they are addressing this!

Vote Vets – POW – This one from the Pacific Theatre of World War II.

OK, this is fun. So little is fun lately. (No CC – but then, no narration either. This is at the St. Louis Aquarium.)

The comment was made, “When members of your base jump up and down and cry because your running mate’s car drove by, it’s really time for people to stop asking “where’s the enthusiasm”?

Trump’s* Wonderful Economic Recovery

Almost every time I see criminal Fuhrer Trump*, aka Nincompoop Nero, he crows about his wonderful economic recovery, calling it the best recovery in US history.  He also claims that if Joe Biden becomes President, he will destroy the economy.  In truth, Nincompoop Nero fiddled while America burned.

As you can see, Trump* and the Republican Reich* have destroyed the economy, and the recovery is both too slow and decreasing over time.  If Biden becomes President, he needs to shut down at once, support those who do, perform extensive testing and contact tracing, and wait till it’s safe to re-open.  That will allow a rapid recovery.  I’d like to say it will be a complete recovery, but many of the jobs Republicans destroyed are gone and will never come back.  To fully recover we need major investments in infrastructure and green energy to put America to work.  If Trump* had shut down properly, Trump* virus would be behind us already.  So we can’t blame Biden for the short term effects of doing what Trump* should have done.

Open Thread – 9/8/2020

It’s a hectic day here in the CatBox.  I have the AC working, but I have to babysit it.  I lost the washer in my portable O2 unit, and Providence Medical Equipment will deliver one this moaning.  I’ll be scarce for the next few days. Please expect no more than a daily Personal Update before Monday.  Tomorrow I have to take the TriMet Lift Bus to to the hospital for my second infusion in 90°+ weather.  Because of WWWendy’s work schedule, I had to schedule the appointment for 3:20 PM.  I’ll nap during the morning. WWWendy will pick me up at 5:30.  When we get home at around 6:00 PM, we still have a whole normal WWWendy day to do.  I’ll be exhausted and will get to bed way late.  I may be too worn out to do more Thursday.  Friday Deborah, the Providence Home Health doctor is coming for a routine visit.  Saturday is a morning WWWendy day.  Sunday I’m meeting with several prison volunteer coworkers and former prisoners on Zoom.  If I can do more, I will, but I’ll be busier than a long-tail TomCat in a rocking chair showroom.  Tuesday is flush your Republicans day.  Flush fast.  They’re sneaky as hell.  Oh God, it’s Tuesday!

Left wing protests are generally more peaceful than those of Republican Ammosexuals. Nevertheless, I agree that there are violent wing nuts on both sides. The difference is that that the lefties reject our wing nuts and condemn their violence. The Republican Reich love and accept their wing nuts and applaud, encourage, and cultivate their violence.  RESIST!!
