It’s a busy day, here in the CatBox.  WWWendy is coming this morning to destink the rancid TomCat, help with chores, and do some semi-gooping,  For lunch, I plan BBQ chicken wings and rice.  Have a great Sunday.

Trump* Virus Update:

1018TrumpVirusMap

US Cases: 8,345,317
US Deaths: 224,295
Plus all the Trump*/GOP plague murders Republicans are hiding

Short Takes:

From NY Times: It is a phrase that has been constantly invoked by Democratic and Republican leaders. It has become the clearest symbol of the mood of the country, and what people feel is at stake in November. Everyone, it seems, is fighting for it.

“This campaign isn’t just about winning votes. It’s about winning the heart and, yes, the soul of America,”

The Times is just a bit off. Democrats want America’s souls. Republicans want America’s assholes.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (SNL Channel): Dueling Town Halls Cold Open

Both Carrey and Baldwin are more worthy of your votes than Criminal Fuhrer Trump*. However, Trump* has conducted extensive studies of perversion, assisted by his pal, Jeff Epstein.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Bob Dylan – Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door (Audio)

Ah… the memories! Protest like the 60s!  RESIST!!

Vote Blue No Matter Who Top to Bottom!!

  1. Sounds delicious! It’s cold here today, and, though it’s supposed to be warmer tomorrow, will be even colder than now within a week. Time for old lady shawls and heavy garments.

Mitch mentioned a Theater of War production which he saw live and I saw recorded, and I alluded to a poem which was read. I don’t want to inundate people – I got the poem transcribed, and in 14 point is’s two pages – but there were a few lines I wanted to share (the title of the poem is “For Tamir Rice“):
Did you know there’s no word for a parent who loses their child?
We call people who lose their spouses widowers, and children who lose their parents orphans.
But the human tongue is not heavy enough to bear the weight of a child’s body.

I see The New Yorker is stealing your Acronym SCROTUS – to refer to Moscow Mitch – by making the stand for “Crusty.” I think it’s too good for him. And everyone who possibly can should read Masha Gessen’s interview with Alexey Navalny. Because that world is what Trump* wants for us. (If a paywall keeps you out, I may be able to help.)

Cartoon – Oh yes. And they have others. Cruelty is something they are good at.

TVU – Kudos to Vermont and Hawaii. Especially to Vermont, since iit has borders … but being also smart enough to keep Bernie (and Pat Leahy) on the Senate, it is of course a smart state.

NYT – Does the Times think people don’t understand what the soul of America means in politics? Here’s some help, NYT – it means essentially a mandate, plus enough voter support between elections to get things done. And yes, Republicans do want that, and we’ve seen what their having it – or mistakenly believing that have it – leads to.

SNL “Surprise Badass Savannah Guthrie … I think you’ll thank me.” Yup. So I’ve heard.

Blast – In ’73 I was just finishing up my MBA and heading to Japan, where I was until 1976. Anything from that period is new to me, song, movie, whatever.

  2. Cartoon: Ouch! a hundred times!
TVU: Yes, we’re pretty steady, not good either.
NYT: What you so aptly said, Tom.
SNL: So well done, lol !
    BFTP: Great song!! Love Bob!
Hope that you and WWWendy got all your chores done. Now, you can relax and rest. Take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom. Hope my Texans can come through. They’re playing TN, and score is Titans 29,Texans 23. 4th qtr.

*This just in: Seen on a shirt: “Keep the Immigrants.” “Deport the racists”. ~ CTA ~
    2. “Her name is Kamala Harris. And..very soon we will call her Madam Vice President. ~ anon ~
    3. trump mentions Governor of MI at his rally, the crowd chants ‘lock her up!’, and trump says ‘lock them all up.’ “This is exactly the rhetoric that has put me, my family and other government official’s lives in danger while we try to save the lives of our fellow Americans. It needs to stop!” ~ Governor Gretchen Whitmer ~
    4. djt campaign slogan should be “I don’t care about you, you, or you.” ~ Lisa H. ~
    5. “Apparently dt saw the ratings for the competing Town Halls and now he’s paying Sean Spicer to set the record straight.” ~ Dan Rather ~
    6. “If you want to unfriend me cause I’m not a trump supporter…BI DEN!”  ~ Mary D. ~

    • TJI#1: Wonderful!
TJI#2: Then the sound of that glass ceiling breaking will resound for a very long time, and…everyone will know how to pronounce her name.
      TJI#6: Indeed!

    • TJI #1 – AMEN, LORD!
TJI #3 – She has a digital director, who has the receipts that when he does this, the death threats go up. It is provable, not just an assumption.
      TJI #6 – I see what Mary D did there!  12

  3. ‘Toon: In the Republican world, there are no voting rights.
TVU: Spreading like crazy in Wisconsin and Iowa!  Will it change red minds, or just lead to a smaller red turnout?
NYT: Absolutely!  I won’t burden people with a phenomenal editorial in which the NYT endorsed Biden, but it was  what should be devastating!
    SNL: Love those folks!
BFP: May the Dumpy reign be knocking on Hell’s door!

  4. The apparently very talented, very young woman who wrote the poem is Manasi Garg.  The lines Joanne quoted are suffused with caring and sorrow.

  5. Cartoon: Evil Rotten repugs.
TVU: Awful….We had another 374 new cases today. up to 52,355 cases. So they’re warning us today, that since it continues going up, that we may be stores/businesses facing closures again.
NYT: I honestly hope and pray that on Nov. 3, that we will all be celebrating that come January our Country will have a leader, Joe Biden, who will turn our country back around to where we can see our country recover from the evil disasters we’ve been put thru ever since tRump stepped into office.
SNL:I recorded it last night and did watch it this morning. I love watching Baldwin play tRump. I bet Savannah Guthrie would of loved to been able to knock tRump.
BFTP: Great tune. Big fan of Bob Dylan.  I have to agree with Mitch regarding tRump knocking on Hell’s Door.
Hope you and Wendy had a nice visit. That you both got all of your chores taken care of.
Barbecue Wings and rice, sounds tasty.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  6. WOW!  BBQ chicken wings & rice!
Glad to see you’re stepping up in the culinary world!

  7. Lots to do but in a good way, TomCat? Lunch sounds delicious.

    3:15 How delicate.

Cartoon: This is the lady-Republican version; you should see what the gentleman-Republican carries.

TVU: The news Down Under mentioned that things were getting out of control again in the US and this map and the numbers are confirming that.

NYT: From here it looks like that soul has gone into hiding the last four years. I hope it returns before November 3, with a Trump-like vengeance and takes back what it has lost in those years.

SNL: Loved the way the didn’t pull punches on either candidate. Of course, it is imperative that Biden wins the presidency by a landslide, but there are a lot of things left to be desired in Joe. It’s better to laugh about those things now then expect the impossible from Biden and get disappointed.

BFTP: Last year of high school, working like mad through a year full of exams as a team, not a class, and going to the pictures twice with all of us to see Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Bob Dylan on the turntable at every occasion. One of the most memorable years of my life.

  8. Thanks and tired OGIM Hugs to all! 19
