These posts may become shorter now that the voting, if not the counting, has finished, but I think there are going to be plenty of videos to find and share. There are a lot of creative people out there.

The special election for the other Senate seat in Georgia will be January 5. Normally I don’t ask anyone to give in these situations because I can’t. This time I did. So i’m asking anyone who can to make a donation for our last chance to get the Senate.

Get ready Georgia. The negative ads against us are coming.

Insanity Update – 10/5/2020

It’s a crazy, sick, exhausted day here in the CatBox. Please forgive my outburst yesterday. illness, disappointment, and exhaustion got the better of me. Rest assured, it was temporary. The situation today looks more hopeful. I am still disgusted with the people of the US who voted red and more disgusted with the traitors, who did not vote. I’m sorry it seemed like I’m giving up on this country. I’m not. And I never considered for a second giving up up on my friends here. That won’t happen until until three days after they sweep up my ashes. After that, if you hear a purr in your ears, I will not have given up then either. I am still exhausted and worried sick. WWWendy is coming, and Store to Door is delivering groceries. I need to go back to bed. What I do tomorrow will depend on how I feel. But I will touch base at a minimum. Go, Joe, Go!

I am putting up two links to analyses which are too long for this venue. Some of the short ones are serious, some are intended to lighten us up a little. I am posting early so as not to delat the petitions, but if (as I expect) Keith posts around 3 pm, I will edit to add him.

The Biden Campaign has a couple of half-hour videos up on what they are doing to protect the election.

The Lincoln Project is (or was) having a live Zoom event answering questions. If it’s over, it will still be up.

I supposed I don’t have to tell you that I worried all night and feel like burying myself in my own box. I was hoping for a landslide, and I feel disgusted. Even if Biden wins, Republicans will gain seats in the US House, and barring a miracle, hold the Senate. I have no words of wisdom that you can get from MSNBC, so I’m going back to bed to worry, cry for the fate of America and pray. Tomorrow is a WWWendy day and a grocery delivery day, and giving the national situation, I have no idea what I’ll have to share tomorrow. God save America.

Not really long enough for a post – but too important to ignore, or delay, and it just came in.

The Election Integrity Project held a seminar just this morning, and Eric Smalley, technology editor for The Conversation, attended and felt this information was the most important to share:

Russian efforts, by way of the shadowy Internet Research Agency, are focused on amplifying claims by Americans of fraud by Democrats, but unlike 2016 the Russian participation is getting dramatically less traction.
A major concern is entities purporting to be livestreaming video but who are in fact using old and/or unrelated video to create a false narrative. This was first seen during the George Floyd protests.
The danger zone is the time between the polls closing and results coming in. People will be anxiously watching for news and information, and entities pushing disinformation/misinformation will attempt to fill the news vacuum.
Things the Election Integrity Project is watching:
There is likely to be lots of online video showing incidents of intimidation that will be rapidly decontextualized and used to delegitimize the election.

Both Facebook and Twitter will be labeling problematic posts, but only Twitter disallows sharing of those posts. Will Facebook need to follow suit?

And when I say share, I mean share. This was in an email from The Conversation. Feel free to share the inforation with friends and family.

It’s a worry and pray day, here in the CatBox. The day for which we have waited for years has finally arrived, and I am witnessing the most important US election of my lifetime, if not of this nation’s history. Molly, a physical therapist from Providence is coming to evaluate me this morning. We want to see of there is a brace I can wear to reduce the pressure on my spine, when I’m sitting on my power chair in the hope that doing so will receive my pain level. This morning my Republicosis was under control for the first time in quite a while. I suspect this may be a prophetic message. If God has controlled my shit, perhaps she may be controlling America’s shit, the Republican Reich, too. What I do tomorrow may depend on what happens today. Tuesday is flush your Republicans day. Do it nationally!

PHP is a programming language used to build websites. We have it at all through our hosting partner, BlueHost. In order to update it, we have to go through Bluehost. During his life, TomCat was the only one who had access to our account there. I (JD) am now the only one. I have been to BlueHost and investigated updating our PHP to 8.3 or even to 8.1. I found instructions to do so - in fact, I found two conflicting sets of instructions. I went through one set of the steps and got the message that Our site could not handle 8.3, but that it had successfully updated to 8.1. I then went back here to see what it looked like. But I couldn't get in - either as an administrator or as a reader. It was just gone. I had to reach BlueHost by phone. It was determined that Politics Plus is in fact not compatible with any version of PHP newer than the one we have. BlueHost therefore uninstalled it for me, and the site came back to normal. Of course, like everyone else, I care about security. But I also am aware that TomCat elected to use different providers for several of the services that BlueHost provides, for instance backups. We are backed up daily - but not by BlueHost. However, out PHP is through Bluehost. I feel that if they are not worried about the older version, I am not going to worry about it. I believe that our security here is all or mostly through WordFence, whom I trust.
