I’ve had a few questions buzzing in my head, and I’d genuinely appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

[1] Do You Think Trump Will Resign So Pence Can Pardon Him?  And Why Did You Say Yes Or No?

I can see strong arguments for both.  On one hand he knows he’s going to face major legal jeopardy at the state level, so he might take the sure way of resigning and then have Pence pardon him.  He certainly realizes that a self-pardon is fraught with legal problems, and he might want to be certain he’s fully pardoned at the Federal level.

On the other hand, I’m not sure his megalomaniac ego would permit him to resign.

[2] Do You Think Trump Will Actually Run Again In 2024?

He hates going out as a LOSER – so he might try.

On the other hand, he might lose … AGAIN!  Plus he might just as soon take the four years grifting funds from gullible Trumpkins, and then use it to shore up his failing business interests.

[3] Do You Think Trump Will Show Up At The Inauguration?  And If He Did, Would That Be A Good Or Bad Thing?

I honestly don’t think his ego could endure being at any event that he’s not the center of attention.

I personally hope he goes to Mar-a-Lago for Christmas – and stay there … forever.  (Well, he can go to New York for his trials.)

I’d really hate to see him leave the White House in Marine One on Inauguration day, and then announce his 2024 run on Air Force One on his flight to Florida during the actual Inauguration.

I’d truly appreciate your input on all three – or pick the one that hits you most.

  1. 1. I think Trump’s bloated ego won’t let him resign and leave himself at the mercy of someone else, not even Pence, and his sick mind has distorted reality so much that he by now truly believes he’s won. To resign, some part of him has to admit to losing the election and he’s just incapable of that.

    2. Can you run for president from jail or under indictment? This time he won’t be able to settle things out of court, so all depends on how willing states are willing to go after him. Another thing that could deter him from running in 2024 is his advancing dementia. I don’t think he’ll find another doctor to let him pass the tests they will certainly throw at him then should Trump want to try a rerun.

    3. He needs to be the center of attention, as you say, Nameless, so if he can stage a demonstration like yesterday in Washington and elsewhere, but than with larger crowds than the few thousand braindead that turned up because they still believe the election was rigged in Biden’s favour, Trump will come to the inauguration and bask in the violence that will follow as it did yesterday:

In videos of a clash in Olympia that were posted on social media, a single gunshot can be heard as black-clad counterprotesters move toward members of the pro-Trump group, including one person waving a large Trump flag. After the gunshot, one of the counterprotesters is seen falling to the ground, and others call for help. In one video, a man with a gun can be seen running from the scene and putting on a red hat. (NYT).

But Trump will only come if his protesters come to Washington to demonstrate during the inauguration. If protests are banned, he’ll stay away and think of some other way to point the spotlight away fron Biden and at himself. Your prediction of him leaving in Air Force One while announcing his 2024 run, then may well become reality. I’d rather see him arrested on the steps of the White House for hist first trial, though.

  2. Question #1 – “I’m not sure his megalomaniac ego would permit him to resign.” – I, on the other hand am morally certain he is incapable of resigning, even to get a pardon.

Question #2 – I think he is running now. I also think he will be going to prison – maybe not Federal prison (although I hope so – God, do I hope so), but he won’t be allowed to “run” (i.e. hold events) from a State prison either. And we will have time to work on legislation prohibiting a convicted felon from becoming President. Because one or several prison terms would not phase his base.

Question #3 – I believe he has already scheduled an event of his own for that exact time and a different place which is exactly what I would expect from him. I’m not worried about him showing up. I am somewhat concerned about his armed supporters – but I doubt I’m the only one, and that precautions are already being prepared.

  3. I did think he’d resign so Pence could pardon him and to “mess” with the Dems….Biden would then be 47, not 46…..think of all the stuff made saying 46 already…….however, getting less sure ot this happening….

Yes, I think he’ll run again in 2024….if he can make $$$ from it…..might use 2022 as a marker to see if he still has “power” by supporting candidates….if they do well he’s more likely to make a 2024 run, if not…..then maybe no……wonder if he would also want to be a king maker and christen Ivanka as his choice…..

I hope he doesn’t show up…..I think he should go Mar-A-Lago for Christmas and stay there……

    • I think you’re right: I think he’ll see what his impact still is in 2022.  Two years is a long time to keep fostering hate when you’ve lost the bully pulpit.

But while he might decide by then that he won’t run, I doubt he’d announce that if he was still raking in a fair amount of cash from his grift.

Power and money are the ONLY things he values

  4. I too, don’t think that he will resign, (as that’s beneath his train of thoughts)… he’s too full of hot air!
    2. Look at those rallies, and how happy he gets being the center of attention! He’s still thinking that he’s invincible, and ALL people LOVE him, except those that annoy him, or don’t bow down to his whims..and demands. Then he’s an ugly mean ‘manchild’.
    3. His ego w/not permit him to be there for this momentous and memorable event. But! he’ll be sending flares to his minions to (possibly) disrupt this historical event. Maybe not at the steps of the US Capitol,….but somewhere around there. I really don’t think that he’d miss it watching on tv, in his bedroom….perhaps.
p.s. dt is bad news all the way around, imho.

  5. 1.  I suggested this a long time ago and consider it likely if federal charges appear immanent in the last days.

    2.  No.  The  Republican Reich will find a new Fuhrer to be the next scapegoat for their crimes.

    3. No.  He doesn’t want hid nose rubbed in it.  It would be a bad thing.  It’s always bas for anyplace Trump shows up, except prison to do time.

    Thus sayeth the 🐱

  6. It is a good question Nameless yet given how much evidence these days that Pence is distancing himself from even more (recall his low profile on Flynn in the early days) I’m not sure it is safe to assume he’d give a pardon or write it in a way that actually covers all of Trump’s possible crimes (and it won’t apply to anything that continues being done after the pardon either)

  7. 1- I think no resignation will come, due to empty, but bloated, sense of ego, as you suggest. Only “losers” quit!
2- I do not think he will run, as no real plans to run, is just trying to save that putrid face, and keep grifting.  Reportedly, he’s been given over $200 mill by the fools who used to think, maybe still do, that he’s a billionaire.  Speechless!  He may, however, stage a press conference, or rally for the purpose of announcing an empty plan to run, just for his kind of shits and giggles.
3- I expect he will not be at the inauguration, for your already mentioned ego related reason.  He has said that he’ll hold some sort of alternative “event.” That would be his style.  I’ll not watch, and if the event turns out to be a hari-kari, there will be plenty of opportunity to watch re-runs.

  8. 1. No I don’t feel that he’d resign. I too feel his ego would prevent that.
    2. No. I feel that he’ll be prosecuted for all the illegal acts he’s done prior to and while in office. That he’ll be sentenced to many years behind bars. If this does happen, then he won’t be eligible to run again.
    3. No. He still hasn’t conceded. He hasn’t done one thing to help prepare Joe Biden or Kamala Harris ready for taking on their new posts. Sure he’ll be long gone somewhere on inauguration day. Tweeting some sort of crap on Twitter. Maybe he’ll be throwing a party.

  9. 1.  Resign?  That would put him in the category of “losers and suckers” and we know how he sees them.  His ego is way too large for that.  Why do you think he never wears a hat — they can’t make them big enough!
    2.  I doubt he’ll have the mental faculties to string a sentence together let alone do anything else.  Given what is happening right now, it would not surprise me if he and others were be charged with sedition and that would preclude him from running.  It depends on what happens in the intervening years.
    3.  I don’t think he’ll show, but I do think he will try to steal the limelight.  It would be great if he was totally ignored but that would probably set him off.  I worry that his homeboys will get violent at the inauguration.
