The proposed rule will reverse standards enacted under former president Barack Obama that require oil and gas operations to install controls on their operations to curb the release of methane at the well head and in their transmission equipment, including pipelines, processing and storage facilities.

And here is the greatest source of methane in the US

Today is the last day of the worst part of the heat wave with 96° forecast.  I slept poorly and feel very tired.  Yesterday the tech did a great job on my power chair!  I’m out $330, but the chair is whisper quiet, and I no longer have to hide from neighbors.  Tonight is a WWWendy night.  That’s a good thing, because the TomCat is in desperate need of destinking.  Hump Day Hugs to all.

The two are in a GOP primary run-off to face Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood in the November general election.

The Danish Parliamentarian was far more deferential than the Fart-face Fuhrer deserves. He could not have second thoughts about everything, until he has a first thought about anything. For Republican staffers, a BS in Bullshitology is no longer enough. They need a PhD (Piled Higher and Deeper). RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: The Republican Presidential nominee, Donald Trump, tore into the media on Thursday for what he called its “extremely unfair practice” of reporting the things he says.

“I’ll say something at a rally and I look out and see all these TV cameras taking every word down,” Trump told Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “No one in politics has ever been subjected to this kind of treatment.”

“It’s unbelievable and, frankly, very unethical,” he added.

Dang, Andy! Straight news again!  RESIST!!

From Alternet: Bethany Milton spent 11 years working for the U.S. federal government as a consular officer in the Foreign Service. But in an op-ed for the New York Times, Milton explains that this summer, she finally decided to leave the State Department — and the straw that broke the camel’s back was hearing supporters of President Donald Trump chanting, “Send her back, send her back” in reference to Rep. Ilhan Omar during a recent rally.

“When President Trump’s supporters chanted, ‘Send her back!,’ I took that as a charge for me as well,” Milton asserts. “I asked the Trump Administration to send me back from my overseas posting, shipping home the family, foreign language textbooks and various tchotchkes from ‘shithole countries’ that I’ve collected in my years as a United States diplomat. I am joining a growing list of Foreign Service officers who refuse to serve this administration any longer.”

Milton, in her op-ed, explains that she has a long resumé with the federal government. From 2014-2016, for example, she “oversaw immigrant visa processing at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India” — and she “oversaw immigrant visa operations in Kigali, Rwanda, from 2018 to 2019.”

Milton recalls that when she joined the U.S. State Department in 2008, she sat through some presentations as part of her orientation. And in one of them, she was told, “The day you can no longer publicly support your administration’s policies is the day you need to resign.” And for Milton, she writes in her op-ed, that day came when she found the “Send her back, send her back” chants intolerable.

Kudos to Milton, and to all public servants, who have determined that keeping their career is less important than maintaining their integrity by refusing to be part of a Republican Reich. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Dearborn, Michigan has cut ties with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declining to renew a contract to jail immigrant detainees for the agency. Mayor Jack O’Reilly Jr. made the decision “following backlash by immigration advocates and religious groups,” The Detroit News reports. “The department has renewed contracts annually with Calhoun County and ICE for more than 10 years. Dearborn police would hold detainees for ICE in Dearborn’s 20-bed facility in an undisclosed location,” though detentions stretched into the thousands over the years.

Michigan Reps. Debbie Dingell, Rashida Talib and Andy Levin were among the leaders that have called for an end to local collaboration with ICE,  with demonstrators as recently as last week gathering outside the Dearborn Police Department to protest mass deportation policies.”This country is being divided by fear and hatred, and it’s wrong,” Dingell said. “We stand here today of members of all faiths that are being targeted.”

Kudos to Dearborn. Put ICE on ice! RESIST!!

Ah… the memories! RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Two thing have to happen in the 2020 election: a Democratic president and the end to Mitch McConnell’s Senate leadership. He makes that clear in an op-ed in The New York Times Thursday. He explains how he destroyed the Senate as an institution and installed “Justice Neil Gorsuch, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and 43 new lifetime circuit judges—the most ever at this point in a presidency,” to own the libs. Literally. This is the follow up to that sentence: “The consequences of taking Senator Reid’s advice will haunt liberals for decades.”

He’s throwing down the gauntlet to all the Democratic presidential and Senate candidates, threatening all-out war if they have the temerity to break his iron grip on the Senate by getting rid of  the legislative filibuster. He throws some stuff in about the sanctity of the Senate as an institution, even invoking Madison and Jefferson. But it’s clear that this is about raw power. His raw power.

Bought Bitch Moscow Mitch [R-KY] has made it clear that we need to do four things: keep the House, win the White House, win the Senate, and nuke the filibastards.  RESIST!!

Jean Cramer made the comment Thursday in response to a question about diversity in Marysville, a city in St. Clair County, 55 miles northeast of Detroit. The Times Herald in Port Huron says she’s one of five candidates running for three council seats in November.

From Alternet: On Thursday, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) tweeted out a message of unity and promised to work to reduce violence in his state, in the wake of the shooting in El Paso that left 22 dead and dozens more injured…

…But this was decidedly not the attitude Abbott had just one day before the shooting took place, when, according to the Texas Signal, he sent out a letter peppered with racist attacks on Hispanic immigrants — and a menacing, violent suggestion that Texans “take matters into our own hands.” [emphasis added]

From Daily Kos: It’s unclear exactly how big the Log Cabin Republicans group is, but it’s now down by a couple following the resignation of two members over the gay conservative group’s pathetic endorsement of Trump 2020. “It saddens me greatly to say that today, I am ending my association with Log Cabin Republicans, an organization I’ve been heavily involved with for the last decade—including serving as president of the D.C. chapter for three years,” Robert Turner wrote in a Facebook post.

“But for me, there’s no more fight left,” he continued. “The national board’s endorsement of Trump, and their subsequent and hollow WaPo op-ed, is a step too far. And this leaves me sad.” There’s a lot about this that’s sad, but it’s all self-inflicted, because the group didn’t have to endorse Trump, or anyone for that matter. The group sat out 2016 and could have decided to do the same again in 2020, but jumped on the Trump Train even though the car plainly reads “no gays allowed” on the outside.

Turner wasn’t alone either, following the resignation of another member, Jennifer Horn, over the group’s endorsement. “There is no world where I can sit down at the dining room table and explain to my children that I just endorsed Donald Trump for president,” she told The Washington Post. “It is contrary to everything that I have ever taught them about what it means to be a good, decent, principled member of society.”
