From YouTube (a blast from the past): The Who – Won’t Get Fooled Again

Ah… the memories! In 2016, we got fooled again. RESIST!

From Daily Kos: Dearborn, Michigan has cut ties with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declining to renew a contract to jail immigrant detainees for the agency. Mayor Jack O’Reilly Jr. made the decision “following backlash by immigration advocates and religious groups,” The Detroit News reports. “The department has renewed contracts annually with Calhoun County and ICE for more than 10 years. Dearborn police would hold detainees for ICE in Dearborn’s 20-bed facility in an undisclosed location,” though detentions stretched into the thousands over the years.

Michigan Reps. Debbie Dingell, Rashida Talib and Andy Levin were among the leaders that have called for an end to local collaboration with ICE,  with demonstrators as recently as last week gathering outside the Dearborn Police Department to protest mass deportation policies.”This country is being divided by fear and hatred, and it’s wrong,” Dingell said. “We stand here today of members of all faiths that are being targeted.”

Kudos to Dearborn. Put ICE on ice! RESIST!!

From Share Blue Media: Oregon law gives tuition assistance to National Guard members

Gov. Kate Brown signed into law a new bill to provide tuition assistance to Oregon National Guard members, KVAL reported.

The law provides up to 90 hours of credits at a community college or 180 hours of credits at a pubic or even qualifying private state universities.

To qualify, student must remain in good standing and maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average.

They deserve it!  Oregon leads the way!  RESIST!!

  1. Thank you for the puzzles and news Tomcat.😀

  2. 4:58 Very delicate

Cartoon – I have one of those too. Only mine is orange.

YT – WE didn’t get fooled again, though our country did.

DK – Good news. Though only a beginning, it’s a step, and in the right direction.

SB – Frankly, it never occurred to me that states might need their own “GI Bill”s for National Guard. Shame on me. Kudos to Oregon! I haven’t completely thought this out, but it occurs to me that making education a perk might well be the best, if not the only, way for an all-volunteer military to work.

  3. Cartoon: Nope, not a good idea…nor investment. lol
YT: Yep, just like yesterday, yeah, we need to pray! it doesn’t happen again…
DK: Such great and awesome news! They should use this event for a reason to celebrate.
SBM: I’m jealous, I don’t see our gov’na jumping and getting on board with this. Kudos to your state!

Hi, Wendy! Hope that you get all your chores done, and that you can spend the rest of your day, relaxing, and enjoying your gorgeous view from your window. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.
*This just in: “Trump attacks Amazon and other companies, and then their stocks fall. He starts a trade war w/China and the market tumbles. In the background…his shills buy up stock for him. He then recants, (dt), market shares rise again, and BAM, he’s made millions! ~Yic Y.~
    2. “Whenever dt screams ‘fake news!’ at reporters, they should all scream back “Fake Election!”
    ~Andy Borowitz~

    3. Observing dt @G7: “It’s like he has a Master’s degree in gaslighting.” ~ Elizabeth L. ~

  4. Cartoon: Nope I’ll pass on their suggestions too.
YT: Good tune. Pray that people don’t get suckered again. We’ve suffered too much already.
DK: Glad that Dearborn has finally wised up. Hopefully other states will disconnect from iCe too.
Glad to hear that Wendy is coming over. Hopefully you both will get all of your chores accomplished.
Plus that you get some rest later on. Take care.

  5. Fun puzzle:

How many triangles are in this drawing?

The setup, evident in looking the diagram, is that no two lines are parallel, and there are no points where more than two lines intersect.

    HINT:

“A triangle is made of three lines. So if there are six lines, then the whole question becomes how can one pick three lines out of those six lines?”

And do NOT try counting them.

  6. 3:34 I didn’t nip it in the bud.

Cartoon: Of course they want to sell it, it needs too much construction work done on it.

YT: The British too would have done well to listen to that song again before they voted on Brexit.

DK: Public pressure works. Thank you, Dearborn, Michigan’s representatives and all demonstrators for standing up for human rights and against inhumanity.

  7. Not feeling well at all probably from lack of good sleep.  See you tomorrow.  In the mean time

    • I do hope you’re right and it’s lack of sleep.  Get lots of sleep, and if the not-feeling-well persists, do seek medical advice.

    • I second JD’s advise. Take good care of yourself, Lynn.

    • I’m up and feeling much better.  I was ready to toss my cookies last evening when I went to bed.  I am fairly certain that it was a lack of really good sleep.  So now I am off to physio.  I will be checking in later.

BTW, I have been talking about the blog with a new French friend (lives in France) and she detests Trump!  She will likely check us out but I don’t know if she will comment.

  8. Thanks and pooped OGIM Hugs! 19

  9. Let us hope we take The Who’s advice in 2020. However, remember that applies to Democrat candidates as well as to Republican ones.
