Here is the one hundred sixty-eighth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is Trump sycophant and Republican pseudo-Christian purveyor of hatred, Chris McDonald. He is so honored for saying God killed Elijah Cummings for opposing Resident Donald Trump.

Right-wing commentator and radical conspiracy theorist Chris McDonald streamed a special edition [pseudo-Christian delinked] of his “The MC Files” program this morning in response to the news that Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings had died. McDonald and his guest, Maryland pastor Stacey Shiflett [pseudo-Christian delinked], spent the entire program attacking Cummings as corrupt, unbiblical, and ungodly, and asserting that God had taken his life because of his opposition to President Donald Trump.

“We know the Bible,” McDonald said. [pseudo-Christian delinked] “You’ve got a leader that has been in office for over 30 years, that opened the door on unfettered abortion in this country. His civil rights icon status was a joke because he did nothing to bring rights to his people; all he did was divide, all he did was play the race card.”…

…“Everything that he’s done has been nothing but trying to take this president out,” he said. “I believe that God had had enough, and God moved.” [emphasis added]

There is no question that this monster deserves a parade, but I have to clarify one thing. This is how Republicans act. It is not how Christians act. Elijah Cummings is an ideal example of how Christians act. Please to not blame Christians for what Republican pseudo-Christians do.

It’s another hectic day here in the CatBox, as I spent considerable time this morning sorting out my appointment schedule for next month’s medical mayhem It’s going to be a busy month. I’m pleased to report that I’m back to normal, as Republicosis waved the white flag. Please expect no more than a Personal Update tomorrow. His Parents Named Him Well

My God is the Lord. That’s the meaning of the name Elijah, and his parents named Elijah Cummings well. Throughout his too-short life, he dedicated himself tirelessly to his faith, to his nation, to his community, and to anyone he could help in any way. His passing leaves a terrible void in the fabric of our nation, and except for the Republican Reich, we shall miss him.

Elijah E. Cummings, a Democratic congressman from Maryland who gained national attention for his principled stands on politically charged issues in the House, his calming effect on anti-police riots in Baltimore, and his forceful opposition to the presidency of Donald Trump, died Oct. 17 at a hospice center in Baltimore. He was 68.

The cause was “complications concerning long-standing health challenges,” his office said in a statement. Mr. Cummings was chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee and a leading figure in the Trump impeachment inquiry and had been out of his office this week while recovering from an unspecified medical procedure.

Born to a family of Southern sharecroppers and Baptist preachers, Mr. Cummings grew up in the racially fractured Baltimore of the 1950s and 1960s. At 11, he helped integrate a local swimming pool while being attacked with bottles and rocks. “Perry Mason,” the popular TV series about a fictional defense lawyer, inspired him to enter the legal profession.

“Many young men in my neighborhood were going to reform school,” he told the East Texas Review. “Though I didn’t completely know what reform school was, I knew that Perry Mason won a lot of cases. I also thought that these young men probably needed lawyers.”…

Rudy Toast

I remember that, when he ran for the Republican Residential nomination in 2008, every other word he said was 911, so people labeled him Rudy 911. Now we need to change that name to Rudy Toast, because the more we learn about his dealings, both personal and on behalf of his Fuhrer, the more he becomes toast.

President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, was paid $500,000 for work he did for a company co-founded by the Ukrainian-American businessman arrested last week on campaign finance charges, Giuliani told Reuters on Monday.

The businessman, Lev Parnas, is a close associate of Giuliani and was involved in his effort to investigate Trump’s political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden, who is a leading contender for the 2020 Democratic Party nomination.

Giuliani said Parnas’ company, Boca Raton-based Fraud Guarantee, whose website says it aims to help clients “reduce and mitigate fraud”, engaged Giuliani Partners, a management and security consulting firm, around August 2018. Giuliani said he was hired to consult on Fraud Guarantee’s technologies and provide legal advice on regulatory issues.

Federal prosecutors are “examining Giuliani’s interactions” with Parnas and another Giuliani associate, Igor Fruman, who was also indicted on campaign finance charges, a law enforcement source told Reuters on Sunday… [emphasis added]

From NY Times: The creator of a gruesome video that showed a fake President Trump killing journalists and political opponents and that was played at a meeting of a pro-Trump group over the weekend is part of a loose network of right-wing provocateurs with a direct line to the White House.

The unidentified creator of the video operates under the name of “The GeekzTeam” and has proclaimed on Twitter to be a “red blooded American with ZERO tolerance for the liberal agenda.” Like many in the online group, the person specializes in creating pro-Trump internet content, often by remixing the president’s image into clips from popular movies and television shows.

Another of the provocateurs, Logan Cook, who often has posted the videos on MemeWorld, his website, participated in a social media summit at the White House in July and took his children to meet the president in the Oval Office, accompanied by Dan Scavino, the White House social media director.

No wonder the Fuhrer loves it so much! RESIST!!

Whose Day Is It, Really?

In school we learned that history was the history of white colonialism, and that in 1492, Columbus discovered America. We were also taught that the indigenous people were called Indians, because they did not have the decency to be living in India, where Columbus thought he was at the time. Worse yet, they attacked us, because they were too impatient to wait for us to complete the genocide before civilizing them. Ever since, we have celebrated Columbus Day on this date (or a close Monday), but whose day is it, really?

On Monday [today] in the nation’s capital, there is no Columbus Day. The D.C. Council voted to replace it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day in a temporary move that it hopes to make permanent. Several other places across the United States have also made the switch in a growing movement to end the celebration of the Italian explorer in favor of honoring Indigenous communities and their resiliency in the face of violence by European explorers like Christopher Columbus.

Baley Champagne is responsible for that change in her home state of Louisiana. The tribal citizen of the United Houma Nation petitioned the governor, John Bel Edwards, to change the day. He did, along with several other states this year.

“It’s become a trend,” Champagne said. “It’s about celebrating people instead of thinking about somebody who actually caused genocide on a population or tried to cause the genocide of an entire population. By bringing Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re bringing awareness that we’re not going to allow someone like that to be glorified into a hero, because of the hurt that he caused to Indigenous people of America.”… [emphasis added]
