It’s a tired day here in the CatBox.  WWWendy is here doing chores, and I am de-stunk.  It’s the first sub-freezing morning of the year.  Tuesday is Flush Your Republicans Day.  There are a couple in desperate need of flushing in Georgia!

It’d a tired day here in the CatBox.  It’s also slow day for news to report.  It’s a Holy Day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos Play the Chargers, but it’s not televised here.  I’m ready for a nap.  Have a great day.

From NY Times: On the campaign trail, Joe Biden argued for higher taxes on Americans who make more than $400,000 a year. Those tax increases, he said, would help fund his broader agenda and reduce inequality.

But depending on the outcome of Georgia runoff elections next month, as president he will face either a Republican Senate majority that is dead set against tax increases, or a very narrow Democratic majority that will need to choose its battles carefully.

That will present him with a political conundrum: How do you raise more money from the wealthy if you can’t raise tax rates?

One potential answer: do better on enforcing the existing tax laws.

Tax experts have long identified a large “tax gap” between the amount Americans owe and what is actually collected. This is disproportionately a result of underpayment of taxes by high earners, especially in certain types of closely held partnerships and midsize businesses that face little scrutiny from either the Internal Revenue Service or outside investors.

That is exactly the type of structure — including dubious deductions — that allowed President Trump to minimize his tax bill for years, according to reporting on the president’s taxes by The New York Times.

One problem is that Republicans have been gutting the IRS’ budget for years, so they wont have the money to investigate and prosecute the rich.  I’m all for this , but to do it Biden needs to get IRS the funds to do it.  RESIST!!

It’s a busy tired day here in the CatBox.  Yesterday afternoon, two neighbors, both women, got into a fight in the hallway outside my door, waking me up.  One had a dog that started barking and snarling.  One woman and the dog screamed.  The other woman had pulled the wall mount fire extinguisher and sprayed the other woman and the dog with it, filling the hallway with white powder.  The fire alarm went off.  It was two hours before it stopped and I could return to bed.  They finished cleaning up the mess late last night.  WWWendy is here, and we are busy.  I’ll be back in the saddle tomorrow.  Happy Hump Day!

It’s a hectic day here in the CatBox.  I received a text from Safeway.com that my order is on the way with a link to track my order.  I clicked the link and got a “tracking temporarily offline” message.  Fingers crossed.  For pizza this week, I tried Pizza Hut.  Unlike Dominos, which was fine, it was not edible with my stent after a night in the fridge. So WWWendy picked me up sandwiches from Subway, and they are fine.  Tomorrow, I should be back in the saddle, barring unforeseen circumstances.  Oh God, it’s Monday!

It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  WWWendy came earlier than usual this morning.  She’s going out of town with her boyfriend for the weekend.  His name is also Tom, so I plan to suggest that he may have my room for the weekend, and I get the booty call!  Please expect no more than a Personal Update tomorrow.  I have a big grocery order coming from Safeway.com.  In the past, their service around holidays has been crappy at best.

It’s a painful exhausted day here in the CatBox.  After the hospital screwed me up so badly three weeks ago, they treated me like royalty yesterday to make sure everything went smoothly.  The got me infused and out early.  They increased my Fentanyl patch from 50 mg to 75 mg.  We stopped for take out pizza an the way home.  The notary came, and I got writers cramp with all the signing.  I commented that, if I had any idea how big a pain in the ass it is to die, I would have opted to live instead.  I was up from 5:00 AM until 4:30 PM, and that left me exhausted and in severe pain.  Today I have to do an online shop at Safeway.com as Store to Door is closed for the holidays.  I should be back in the saddle tomorrow.  TGIF!

A Thought from Mitch (ours, not BBMM):

When I was 18, I lived in New York City in my first apartment,  I had this on a poster framed above my bed.  In an “Ah… the memories” moment, Mitch emailed it to me.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
