Like the old Mortan Salt slogan goes: “When It Rains, It Pours”.

I think I whined a bit WRT the steeper-than-anticipated learning curve for using my new Logitech Ergonomic Split Keyboard to help avoiding another carpal tunnel surgery.

(And if I didn’t whine, I MEANT to.)

Then yesterday I was reminded it was time to check for updates, and both MS & Dell had a passel of critical ones.  So I downloaded and installed them.

But they both required a reboot to complete the installation.  No big deal … or so I thought.

But three-and-half HOURS later the little “Restarting” with the swirling dots were STILL swirling around!

After several attempts at a hard reboot and disconnecting everything and waiting a minute and re-plugging everything back and rebooting again … all I get is the swirling “Restarting” dots.

Since yesterday was a total loss, today I had to drag out the laptop and am getting by.

Thank heavens for my OneDrive cloud!

I worked this morning on trying some fixes for the stuck “Restarting” – but to no avail.  This afternoon I decided to switch to finishing my taxes before anything else goes wrong.

Like I said, fortunately I was able to continue w/ all my work since the OneDrive cloud had everything!

It may be a day late for posting, but I didn’t forget TC’s B-Day.  So enjoy some birthday cake …

Yesterday, I got a new email from the Theater of War and immediately thought of SpyCat, because they will be doing two readings of “An Enemy of the People” live in Ohio in April, in Mount Vernon and Gambier on the 6th and 7th respectively (and of course also on Zoom.) These productions are not just theater – there’s no stage, no sets, no costumes or makeup, just readings, and voice acting. And the whole play is never presented – selections are read pertinent to the public health topic addressed. And after the reading, audience members react, both on site and now, since the pandemic, through Zoom, and share through their experience what has touched them and what applies to today. Their website is theaterofwar.com, and it’s headed up with a four minute video describing what they do and why, with three examples (obviously very short.) But there’s also a lot of information there with more detail. “An Enemy of the People,” written in 1882, could almost be the story of CoViD and Dr. Fauci.

Robert Reich makes the case for what he calls “Nauseous Optimism,” by which he means being optimistic even when one’s stomach is churning. but he explains it better than I can.

One of the Mar-a-Lago documents case who has been known as “Employee Number 5” is speaking out on the case and his part in it. I think he’s hoping it will make a bigger difference than I think it will – but any difference in the right direction is a good thing.

You can also read this on today’s video thread – I moved it to its own thread in holes that would make it easier to follow.

From WWWendy:

==========================================

Hi Everyone,
WWWendy here! Sorry I have been MIA for awhile.  Whew! it has been a whirlwind of non- stop stuff!  I made it back from Tampa and then basically worked for 7 days straight and slept on the 8th day.  Finally getting my groove back!  Had a lot to handle still in regards to Tom’s passing and finally feel like I made some headway.

My time in Florida was great and I survived tropical storm Elsa (didn’t really amount to anything).

I am back working non-stop until my trip to Spain in September.  Going back with my son to see his way of life over there – really looking forward to it.

I hope everyone is doing well.  I am having some laptop issues so that made it virtually impossible to touch base with everyone before now.  Still dealing with it, but hoping to have that corrected soon.  I used to take my laptop with me everywhere and it made it easy to do what I needed to no matter where I was at – without I have been lost.  I hate using my phone for everything because it it so much smaller and my it is hard on my eyes!
Just wanted to check in and let everyone know I am still around just super busy.  Not a day goes by that I don’t think about Tom – it has definitely leftt a whole in my heart and my life.

I hope this finds everyone healthy and safe.  My thoughts are with all and I promise to check in sooner rather than later.

Good Morning!   This is the second day of fill-ins this time around.   If you missed WWWendy’s post which started the fill-ins, this link should take you right to it (possibky a couple of seconds for it to jump down the page.)

This is worth reading, particularly in tandem with today’s Everyday Erinyes. It’s also less snarky than Wonkette’s usual style – I hope that doesn’t disappoint anyone.

In Lona’s reply to WWWendy’s news yesterday. she suggested opening an updaye page every so that there is aplace for all of us to easily check in case WWWendy has had a chance to post.  I did that while he was moving, y’all may remember, and I trust it helped WWWendy – I know it helped us.

I’ll be happy to continue that … unless WWWendy woulf like to be an author and make update posts herelf?  Not every day mecessarily, but when there is news?  I know TC already taught you how to do that using his credentials, and I could give you your own credentials in a New York minute if you would be willing.

WWWendy posted it as a comment in yesterday’s Video Thread, but I am copying it here because not everyone looks there:

HI EVERYONE, WENDY HERE – WANTED TO GIVE AN UPDATE ON TOM.  WE SURVIVED THE MOVE ON SATURDAY TO THE NEW FACILITY.  VERY LONG DAY FOR US BOTH.  TOM IS ADJUSTING WELL, GETTING USED TO HIS NEW ENVIRONMENT AND RESTING UP THE BEST HE CAN. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WERE SOME COMPUTER COMPLICATIONS AND WE HAVE A REPAIR MAN COMING ON WEDNESDAY.  I TOLD TOM THAT I WOULD POST AN UPDATE – THE MOVE CAUSED A LOT OF DISCOMFORT AND PAIN FOR HIM AND HE IS VERY EXHAUSTED – HAS BEEN IN BED RESTING SINCE SATURDAY AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE UP AND ABOUT WITH A COMPUTER BY WEDNESDAY IF EVERYTHING GOES AS PLANNED.  NEW PLACE IS TREATING HIM WELL {WITH MY SUPERVISION OF COURSE – LOL}.  I THINK IN THE LONG RUN, THIS WILL BE A GOOD MOVE TO PROVIDE HIM WITH 24 HOUR COMFORT AND CARE.
BEST REGARDS TO EVERYONE – THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED CARE AND SUPPORT OF TOM AND i.

The emphasis is mine  – our guesses were actually spot on (although we didn’t mention the exhaustion, I feel sure it was always there in our minds.  And Wednesday is tomorrow!

I was already feeling much better today and this just puts frosting on that.

I’m not precluding the possibility there still could be one, but as late in the morning as it is, I’m suspecting that setting up the computer is taking longer and needing more work than expected – and, if a tech is going to be needed – today is Sunday.

So here is a place to hang comments and wishes for him.

The puzzle of the day is marmalade jars – I’ve done it more then once and it’s wicked, so I’m not going to try while on the TENS.  But it’s here.

This isn’t from too far in the past … but it is a blast.

And remember not to let Republicans steal your future!
