May 252021

It was a restful day here at the CatBox.  This morning I had my second Trump** Virus vaccine.  I felt a little queasy, but my side effects were nowhere neat as severe as last time.  The Providence nurse came and for once we were on the same page from beginning to end.  Methadone is up to 25 mg.  I get no oxy. and I get 20 mg of morphine up to once an hour as needed.  Please pray that, now that it’s fixed, they avoid the temptation to break it.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:58 (average 5:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. Cartoon: Well, of course!
    BFTP: Great song!

Glad that you got your 2nd shot, with minimal reactions. Delighted to read that you and the nurse are on the same page!!! with your meds, AND…that it stays on point w/no change(s). WooHoo!! Enjoy your day,  take good care, and rest and relax. Thanks, Tom. *TY for your sweet/thoughtful words, Tom.

**This just in: “Hate crimes against the AAPI community have been rising, including against Veterans. @HawleyMO is the ONLY senator to vote against the Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act. He doesn’t even hide his white supremacy. It’s clear that HATE is his brand.” ~ VoteVets ~
    2. Re: defrauded college students – “DeVos must sit for three-hour deposition in which attorneys for the student borrowers may question her under oath about the decisions she made regarding the loan forgiveness program.” ~ Judge William Alsup ~
    3. “It’s very clear to the AAPI community is at a time when they feel under siege, (Hawley) did not stand with them.” ~ Senator Mazie Hirono ~
    4. “Just like the Nation it defends, the US Military strives to be more perfect version of itself. And I will take that over our competitors any day.” ~ Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ~

    • TJI #1 & #3 – I hide my head in shame that Hawley is my senator.

TJI #5 – If Rethuglicans succeed in blocking a 9/11 type commission to investigate the Insurrection at our Capitol on 1/6/21 by domestic terrorists (and they very well might succeed), fortunately there are several alternatives:

Experts told us there are several fallback options, including:

      • A new, select committee of members of Congress with the specific job of investigating Jan. 6.

      • A task force run by the Justice Department or a mix of agencies to propose new policies. Such a task force might have an advisory group consisting of the same types of people who might have been appointed to a blue-ribbon commission.

      • Democratic congressional leaders could hire an outside investigator.

      • The Justice Department could convene a grand jury and appoint a special prosecutor.

      • Democrats could continue with the existing decentralized committee reviews and blame Republicans for obstructing the independent commission.

Most experts said that these solutions would be inferior, mostly due to conflicts of interest.

    • TJI #2 – Best of luck to the sttorneys for the students. I’ll be interested tohear what they can wring out of her. Sadly (but necessarily) she, like every citizen, has Fifth Amendment rights.
TJI #4 – Even though a waiver was needed for him, he seems like an excellent and clear-sighted choice for his post.
TJI #5 – I’m pretty sure that statement includes everyone in Congress and elsewhere – who aided and abetted – and led. If they prosecute under RICO, I know it does.

  2. Sounds good.
‘Toon: It would be an insult to the character in the picture to say that the character in the picture is a Republican.
    BFP:Lovely!

  3. TJI#1: Even scummier than Cruz?
TJI#2: Hoping she can somehow be indicted.
TJI#3: Hawley, or no Hawley (please), they are under siege.
    TJI#4: Strive on!
TJI#5: Most certainly; along with those in congress who helped them!

  4. Great to hear your revised/updated pain regimen is working!

  5. I’m so glad you have a pain regimen which will work, and I pray that it doesn’t change unless your bosy changes. I suspected success when I saw the time you posted – it looks like you got an additional 1-2 hours of sleep from what you’d been getting. Prayers it doesn’t change (unless for the better.)

Today is International Plastic Free Day – the first ever. Fortunately, the reference is to single-use plastic. If it were all plastic, I wouldn’t be, for example, typing on this keyboard. Or using my mouse.

    Cartoon – Why? They won.

Orinially recorded 1962, but the song goes back at least to the 30’s Sad and lovely.

    • The best Hercules came as a vet who would show me (a 20-year cat veteran) how to put a pill in one of my most resisting cats. He ended up with that cat biting right through the nail of his thumb and his nurse and me not daring to look at each other because we could just barely keep ourselves from FOTFLOAO.

  6. I’m so happy to hear you came to an understanding with your caretakers about your pain management, TomCat. All you have to do is ask before the pain gets too bad to manage. You’re probably not using all the morphine allotted to you but if you have to start using more, please tell them so they can get you a new script in time.

Glad you had your second shot without many side effects, TomCat. I had my first AsraZenica yesterday and I’ve felt better.

Cartoon: They wouldn’t be Republicans if they didn’t.

BFTP: PP&M never made it big in Europe so I wasn’t familiar with this sad song.

  7. Cartoon: Yep, going ape over it too.
BFTP: Great song by Peter, Paul and Mary.
So happy that things are going so nicely for you, Tom. With the Providence Nurse being on the same page, helps you in so many ways; relieves pain by giving you the correct dosage of morphine, plus you’re relaxed because she’s doing her job and not creating chaos.
I will continue saying extra prayers that you continue feeling less pain and  things continue going smoothly for you, Tom.
    Take care. Thanks Tom
