I got my test results back today, and Megan was very happy with them.  My A1C is 7.0 and everything else is in the good range.  The weather is horrid with 100° forecast, 52% humidity, and severe haze from the many wildfires in Oregon and southern Washington.  The picture below is a color picture from 8 AM here.  Take back Fitzwalkerstan!!

From The New Yorker: Blasting his former colleague Omarosa Manigault, Donald J. Trump said on Monday that “the White House is no place for a lying lowlife from a reality show.”

“People were impressed by Omarosa because they saw her on a TV show,” Trump told reporters from his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. “Well, I’ve got news for you: being on a reality show does not qualify you to work in the government.”

Explaining why he considered her a “lowlife,” Trump said, “She’s rude, abrasive, and offensive. Having someone like that in the White House is an embarrassment to our country.”

But worst of all, Trump said, was Omarosa’s lying, which he called “constant.”

“She can’t go a day without lying, and what’s more, she’s narcissistic and paranoid,” he said. “A psycho like that shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the Situation Room.”

From Alternet: British actor Sacha Baron Cohen has once again punked right-wing America spectacularly on his show, "Who Is America?" This time, his mark — pro-gun activist Dan Roberts — was tricked into aggressively sucking a sex toy on camera.

Roberts, who is the founder of Youth Shooters of America and who has accused the Parkland shooting survivors of "emotional blackmail," was being instructed on how to survive being captured by terrorist militants, with Cohen disguised as his Israeli anti-terror expert character, Erran Morad.

Collins explains the suspension is in the "best interests of his constituents" and will fill out the remaining months of his term.

From Mother Jones: A year ago this weekend, Charlottesville was overrun with Confederate flags, swastikas, and torch-carrying white supremacists.

While much of the anniversary has been overrun with news about Unite the Right’s planned protest on Sunday in Washington, DC, many are using the weekend to honor Heather Heyer, the 32-year-old anti-racist counter-protester who was killed last year in Charlottesville when a suspected white nationalist drove a car into the crowd.

God bless those who knew and loved Heather and all murdered by the Republican Reich! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

Here at the CatBox the heat wave goes on.  It will only be low 90°s today, but the building is so super-heated that I can feel heat from the hallway through the door, and the outside wall is a radiator all day and night.  Tomorrow will be high 70°s, but the heat will be right back, before the building has time to cool.  ARGH!!  TGIF!

From The New Yorker: In a development that could dramatically change the composition of the federal penitentiary system, Republicans are projected to pick up as many as seventy seats in prison, a leading incarceration expert said on Thursday.

“Prognostication is an inexact science,” Davis Logsdon, who studies conviction rates of corrupt politicians for the University of Minnesota’s Guilt Project, said. “Having said that, if current indictment trends hold up, the Republicans could be flipping at least seventy key prison seats.”

Logsdon broke down criminal cases against Republicans into likely convictions, likely acquittals, and toss-ups, and found that the G.O.P.’s path to the magic number of seventy new prison cells was “very doable.”

According to his projections, Republicans are running for prison “especially well” in districts where the G.O.P. member of Congress was an early supporter of Donald J. Trump.

From Politico: The American Civil Liberties Union on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration over its decision to remove asylum protections for victims of domestic and gang violence.

The ACLU is arguing against “expedited removal” policies, put forth by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, that it says “generally” deny claims of violence of that nature.

“This is a naked attempt by the Trump administration to eviscerate our country’s asylum protections,” Jennifer Chang Newell, managing attorney with the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, said in a statement. “It’s clear the administration’s goal is to deny and deport as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.”

The lawsuit, Grace v. Sessions, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in conjunction with the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

In June, the attorney general overturned asylum protections for certain victims of violence, effectively reversing a push by the Obama administration to provide refuge to women with credible claims of domestic violence.

Kudos to the ACLU. Beauregard’s only quality is his recusal. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: Californians were baffled on Monday by a series of tweets by Donald J. Trump in which he utterly failed to blame the state’s current wildfires on Hillary Clinton.

In interviews with residents up and down the Golden State, Californians agreed with the assessment of Harland Dorrinson, a Modesto native, that Trump’s failure to pin the fires on Clinton was “nothing short of bizarre.”

“When he said that there wasn’t enough water to put out the fires, I naturally assumed he was going to accuse Hillary Clinton of sneaking into California and somehow stealing all of our water,” Dorrinson said. “It was so confusing when he didn’t.”

“I thought that the wildfires would be a perfect opportunity for Trump to accuse Hillary of being anti-water and pro-fire, but he didn’t even mention her,” Tracy Klugian, who lives in San Jose, said. “Maybe he’s really distracted by all this Russia stuff and he’s off his game.”

Dang Andy! I hope he’s too busy pacing in his cell to be distracted soon. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
