It’s murderously hot today.  Store to Door delivered groceries.  I worked up a sweat putting them away, because I was not close enough to the AC.  WWWendy comes tonight, and I really need my shower, but I’ll need another by morning.  ARGH!  Happy Hump Day!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:46 (average 7:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Alex Jones repeatedly threatens people with violence

Barf Bag Alert!!

Bust this Republican for conspiracy to commit hate crimes!! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Politico: The American Civil Liberties Union on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration over its decision to remove asylum protections for victims of domestic and gang violence.

The ACLU is arguing against “expedited removal” policies, put forth by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, that it says “generally” deny claims of violence of that nature.

“This is a naked attempt by the Trump administration to eviscerate our country’s asylum protections,” Jennifer Chang Newell, managing attorney with the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, said in a statement. “It’s clear the administration’s goal is to deny and deport as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.”

The lawsuit, Grace v. Sessions, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in conjunction with the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

In June, the attorney general overturned asylum protections for certain victims of violence, effectively reversing a push by the Obama administration to provide refuge to women with credible claims of domestic violence.

Kudos to the ACLU. Beauregard’s only quality is his recusal. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: Californians were baffled on Monday by a series of tweets by Donald J. Trump in which he utterly failed to blame the state’s current wildfires on Hillary Clinton.

In interviews with residents up and down the Golden State, Californians agreed with the assessment of Harland Dorrinson, a Modesto native, that Trump’s failure to pin the fires on Clinton was “nothing short of bizarre.”

“When he said that there wasn’t enough water to put out the fires, I naturally assumed he was going to accuse Hillary Clinton of sneaking into California and somehow stealing all of our water,” Dorrinson said. “It was so confusing when he didn’t.”

“I thought that the wildfires would be a perfect opportunity for Trump to accuse Hillary of being anti-water and pro-fire, but he didn’t even mention her,” Tracy Klugian, who lives in San Jose, said. “Maybe he’s really distracted by all this Russia stuff and he’s off his game.”

Dang Andy! I hope he’s too busy pacing in his cell to be distracted soon. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 5:56 A little light on the subject.

One more feel-good story. I also sent it to Mother Jones “Recharge” newsletter, which comes out on Wednesdays weekly.

Alex Jones – Famous quotes – “I’m not a crook.” “I’m not a racist.” “I’m not a violent person.” Riiiight.

Politico – His recusal is not exactly his only quality, but it’s his only GOOD quality. All his other qualuties are very, very bad. Horrid, in fact.

TNY – I have to hand it to Andy for being able to improve on what was already the most egregious case of victim-blaming yet devised (“It’s California’s fault because they let all their water flow into the ocean.” Kudos, Andy!

Cartoon – Yes, that is what they are really saying. And doing.

  2. BBA: Twitter is still permitting this a–Hat spread his hate, despite how he talks. Unreal.

Politico: ‘I don’t recall’ Sessions still doing the dirty deed. I pray that the ACLU wins this case!

NYer: Yeah, he’s ‘off his game’ all right….way way off. LOL, Andy.

    Cartoon: Sad. Very sad.

Hi, WWWendy! Sounds like you’ve had a hot, busy morning, doing chores. Hope that you have a relaxing evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. I’m not sorry to see Alex Jones get his arse kicked off social media. He is a serious bugnut – no wonder he threatens violence, like a spoiled child who didn’t get his way.

Politico – Another reason to support the ACLU!

    TNY – I’m surprised, too.

    Cartoon: Ain’t that the truth.

  4. Good riddance, spewing his hatred & doubt no more!!!
    Stay cooool!
    Thanx TC ?

  5. I hope you supplement your AC w/ a decent sized fan.  I can keep my summer temp at 78 degrees (I know, I know – you’d probably LOVE to have it down to 78), and then use a fan in the den where the computer is, and one for my stationary bike where I exercise.

That fan makes a HUGE difference comfort-wise!

(And our electric company includes monthly ratings of how you do kWh-wise compared to your neighbors – and I almost always use the least.  Of course there’s only one of me plus the cat – but I still get a kick out of checking.)

  6. MMC: This is one very sick, mean deluded, bastard!
Politico: Sessions is a very sick, bigoted, sneaky, bastard!  But, of course Coretta Scott King told us that a long time ago!!
New Yorker: I’m surprised that Dumpy did not insist on Hillary going out to California and rain golden showers on the fires!

  7. MM: I’m convinced that Alex Jones would not have been allowed to threaten people with violence, and actually glorify it, in either the Netherlands or Australia. He would have been in court after the first of these threats. And I’m quite sure that this would be true in most civilized countries. I couldn’t watch all of the examples, two or three were more than enough to turn mu stomach, but I found their content quite disturbing, first the allegations that he’s not a violent man and then the descriptions of the damage he would like to inflict, relishing the broken cartilage sticking out. Alex Jones is a psychopath who’s going to lose all grip on reality soon. What is most disturbing is the large group of followers that take the ravings of a mentally ill man seriously.

Politico: Well done, ACLU; keeping my fingers crossed you win this lawsuit. Undoubtedly this administration will then take it up higher and it might end up before SCOTUS. Another reason why any new additions to SCOTUS should be stalled until after the midterms.

TNY: Yes, Drumpf is troubled and off his game, isn’t he? He hasn’t mentioned Hillary for at least a week now, which is very strange given the many opportunities he’s been given. I hope he’s not calming down a bit, because unleashed he can do himself most harm.

    Cartoon: Of course.

  8. Puzzle — 6:46  I am not a fan of such chandeliers . . . too ostentatious not to mention a bitch to clean!

Media Matters — Is it any wonder why Alex Jones and Infowars were banned from YouTube! . . . although I understand he is fighting it as a 1st amendment right.  I call it inciting violence and hate!  Your barf bag alert was totally inadequate . . . should have been at least a score of barf bags for this piece of right wing filth!

Politico — Just further proof that the Diaper Don régime is totally anti women and anti immigrant.  It can’t come to an end fast enough!  Kudos to the ACLU!!!

The New Yorker — Diaper Don would probably blame Hillary if he developed hemorrhoids, so I agree with Dorrinson “that Trump’s failure to pin the fires on Clinton was “nothing short of bizarre.””!  Like you Puddy Tat, I hope he will be too busy pacing in his cell to be worried about tweeting!

Cartoon —  Yup! . . . and it does it with such passion!

The word for yesterday was HOT!!!  It hit 37C (99F) yesterday afternoon near me while it was 36C (97F) at my place.  I spent some time in air conditioning which helped but reality eventually set in and I had to venture out into the heat.  To make our heat warning worse, we had another air quality warning due to ground level ozone.  By the time I got home, I had a sore throat and burning sensation in my lungs — that’s from the ozone.  Today is supposed to be more of the same, although it is only 22C (72F) right now.  We are promised relief on Friday.  The relief I want to see is called winter!

  9. Thanks and Sweltering Hugs. 19
