From Daily Kos: On Sunday night, President Donald Trump appeared on 60 Minutes for an interview with Lesley Stahl. The interview attempted to cover a gamut of important topics, from climate change (Trump still isn’t convinced), to the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, to Trump’s friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un. As is the norm with the president’s interactions with the press, he shared few policy specifics but revealed much about his character.

Disturbingly, Trump doubled down on a speech he gave at a rally in Mississippi earlier this month, in which he ruthlessly mocked Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony. Dr. Blasey Ford participated in a public hearing during then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process to testify about the sexual assault she alleges she suffered at the hands of Kavanaugh in the 1980s.

Trump clarified that he believes this speech helped Kavanaugh become confirmed as a Supreme Court justice, literally saying, “Had I not made that speech, we would not have won.”

Now, I’m mocking Trump, because he deserves it. May we win in November. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

The Des Moines Register slams congressional Republicans on healthcare, tax cuts, deficits, tariffs, racism, misogyny, white nationalism and their fealty to Trump.

This editorial endorsement is a scathing rebuke of the Republican Party.

Go read it!

Kudos to the Des Moines Register. I bet a dollar that it isn’t the Fuhrer’s favorite paper. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: One day after Melania Trump pronounced herself “the most bullied person in the world,” millions of American voters vowed to put an end to her suffering in 2020.

In interviews across the country, sympathetic voters promised to do everything in their power to insure that, as of November, 2020, Melania would no longer be the target of the vicious bullying that has made her the most persecuted human on the planet.

“I never realized just how much she was suffering as First Lady,” Carol Foyler, a voter in Lansing, Michigan, said. “It’s up to us as voters to rescue her.”

From Huffington Post: Washington state’s Supreme Court has ruled that the death penalty is unconstitutional and converted to life in prison all pending death sentences in the state.

The court’s decision on Thursday was unanimous, with the justices determining that capital punishment is applied “in an arbitrary and racially biased manner.”

“The use of the death penalty is unequally applied — sometimes by where the crime took place, or the county of residence… or the race of the defendant,” the court said in its opinion. “The death penalty, as administered in our state, fails to serve any legitimate penological goal; thus, it violates article I, section 14 of our state constitution.”

With the ruling, 20 states have either abolished or overturned the death penalty, according to the non-profit group Death Penalty Information Center. Three others have moratoriums on it.

It’s a temperate day here in the CatBox. The cool air crossing the room is countering the sun on the wall so far, but I may need to break out the A/C later. WWWendy was late last night, because a parent did not pick up a special needs child at her school, so Wendy had to stay there, until an alternate relative arrived. I got to bed late, and we had been working so hard on tasks, that I had trouble winding down and getting to sleep. So today, I feel groggy.

“I mean, I couldn’t believe it,” Kavanaugh said. “I had been busting my tail for six hours, and I needed to blow off some steam.”

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the member of the Court who delivered the bad news to Kavanaugh. “When she told me, I guess I started crying a bit, which I now regret,” he said. “She just kind of closed her office door and went back to work or whatever.”

I think I’m done moping. Last night, I was eating supper when I first heard Putin’s Pervert apologizing to Pervert Kava-Nazi and claiming his innocence had been proven. I won’t repeat my string of expletives. I also threw a bowl of chili at Trump. Fortunately it was almost empty. Even so, cleaning the TV, TV hutch, and floor from my wheelchair took over an hour. We have 28 days.
