I’m feeling quite tired today.  WWWendy was late, because she stopped to inspect the new apartment on the way.  There are some bathroom issues to correct, but otherwise, I’ll have more room than ever.  We activated my iPhone, and that did not go well, but aster 30 minutes with tech support, it’s up and running.  Then I transferred my contacts and erased the old phone.  I finally got to bed about three hours late.  No wonder I’m pooped, here in the tiny old CatBox.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Chuck Schumer: Donald Trump Bailed On Meeting To Throw Rose Garden Tantrum

Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten never intended to make an infrastructure deal. The staged deception in the Rose Garden was a failed attempt to project the blame for the failure of the Republican Reich to agree on a doable plan onto Democrats, who do have a plan. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Vox Channel): Climate change is making allergy season worse

That means that I can blame the carbon-loving Republican Reich for the sickness I’ve had this spring. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: How any Republican can get even one woman’s vote is beyond me. What they do in the halls of government is bad enough, and then there’s shit like this.

According to recent media reports, Doug McLeod, a Mississippi state representative, was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly punching his wife in the face. Why did he do it? Because she undressed too slowly when he wanted to have sex with her.

Oh, and he’d been drinking. Probably a lot.

Talking Points Memo:

After McLeod allegedly hit his wife, she ran to another woman’s room to hide from her husband. McLeod allegedly banged on the door and threatened the other woman that he’d “kill her [expletive] dog” if she didn’t let him in.

“Are you kidding me?” he allegedly said when the cops showed up. At one point, deputies said they couldn’t understand what McLeod was saying because his speech was too slurred. They found blood in the couple’s bedroom.

McLeod was charged with misdemeanor violence and is out on $1,000 bond.

Republicans consider women to be property, so they think abusing wives is their right. RESIST!!

Stop the Bans!

The Republican Reich is a vile contradiction.  On the one hand, they insist that government be too small to interfere with the criminal predations of Banksters, billionaires and corporate criminals against the poor and middle classes.  On the other hand, they demand that government must be too big to allow women any choice at all over their reproductive health care.  To that and, Republicans have passed several state laws intended to ban a woman’s right to choose and overturn roe v. wade.

AbortionGOP

Abortion-rights advocates are holding rallies across the country Tuesday, protesting a wave of laws passed by states in recent weeks to severely restrict access to abortions.

Organizers include the ACLU, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and NARAL Pro-Choice America. More than 400 events were planned for a national day of action outside statehouses and courts, united under the #StopTheBans moniker.

A rally outside the U.S. Supreme Court drew a number of Democrats vying for the 2020 presidential nomination, including South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York.

“This is the beginning of President Trump’s war on women,” Gillibrand told the crowd. “If he wants this war, he will have this war, and he will lose.”

Kudos to the demonstrators.  Take a look.

Are we going to let Republicans return women to coat hanger health care?

Remember, in the Republican Reich, the right to life begins at conception and ends at birth.

It’s a very busy day here in the CatBox.  Store to Door is delivering groceries later.  WWWendy is coming this evening.  In addition to de-stinking and normal chores, we need to set up and activate my new phone.  I’ll probably be moving late next week or early the week after.  I’ll be offline for a few days then.  Yesterday, I published our 9000th article at PP.  I’m still improving slowly.  Hump day hugs!

These pseudo-Christian monsters are NOT Christians. Can you even imagine the real Jesus putting his political opponents in concentration camps? They are even more evil than Nazis. They are Republicans. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Jesse Dollemore Channel): EMBARRASSING!!! Ben Carson is EXPOSED by Rep. Katie Porter as a Know-Nothing About His Job.

Who could ever forget Nine! Nine! Nine!? When Carson wears his Republican Swastika it’s Nein! Nein! Nein! RESIST!!

From Think Progress: Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) is tired of Republicans ignoring election security.

“[W]hat happened in 2016 could be really small potatoes compared to 2020,” said Wyden, an Oregon Democrat who sits on the Intelligence Committee.

Wyden is especially concerned that, as he said, “all of the political muscle is on the other side trying to protect the status quo.” Now he’s hoping to take his message straight to voters.

Fourteen other Democrats joined Wyden earlier this month to sponsor legislation that would force states to use hand-marked paper ballots and audit their election results. The bill, called the Protecting American Votes and Elections Act, would also set cybersecurity standards for voting systems and provide funding for states to implement the changes.

The Republican Reich have no interest in tightening election security. They depend on the lack of security to enable Russian help in 2020. Oregon leads the way. RESIST!!

Here Comes the Judge

Posted by at 9:11 am  Politics

Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten and the Republican Reich will stop at nothing to obstruct justice.  The are so afraid that the truth will emerge, before they can steal another election that they are desperate.  They are illegally refusing to submit to legitimate congressional subpoenas.  And why do we see light at the end of that tunnel?  Here comes the judge.

0521trump-gavel

President Trump’s accounting firm must turn over his financial records to Congress, a Federal District Court judge ruled on Monday, rejecting his legal team’s argument that lawmakers had no legitimate power to subpoena the files.

But Mr. Trump vowed that his legal team would appeal rather than permit the firm, Mazars USA, to comply with the subpoena and the ruling, so the legal fight is far from over.

The ruling by the judge, Amit P. Mehta of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, was an early judicial test of the president’s vow to systematically stonewall “all” subpoenas by House Democrats, stymieing their ability to perform oversight of Mr. Trump and the executive branch after winning control of the chamber in last year’s midterm elections.

[Read the ruling.]

Mr. Trump’s legal team, led by William S. Consovoy, had argued that the House Committee on Oversight and Reform had no legitimate legislative purpose in seeking Mr. Trump’s financial records and was just trying to dig up dirt — like finding out whether the president broke any laws — for political reasons, so the subpoena exceeded its constitutional authority.

Lawrence O’Donnell covered the story in depth. (15:27)

Thank God the case went to a real judge, not a Republican sycophant like Injustice Pervert Kava-Nazi!

Nevertheless, the Republican Reich appear to be willing the obstruction battle.  Unless that changes in short order, we may need to open an impeachment inquiry, with the caveat that we can use it to investigate without having to take a Bill of Impeachment to the Senate.

From NY Times: Access to a government jet 24 hours a day. An office in the West Wing, plus guaranteed weekends off for family time. And an assurance of being made secretary of homeland security by November.

Those were among a list of 10 conditions that Kris Kobach, the former Kansas secretary of state, has given to the White House if he is to become the administration’s “immigration czar,” a job President Trump has been looking to create to coordinate immigration policy across government agencies. The list was described by three people familiar with it.

Great one, Don! Isn’t that the only way the Republican Reich commits war? RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Just yesterday, we covered the sickening story of a St. Paul, Minnesota, teacher describing her black students as ‘f——g n——s’ on video. Today, we have a different yet also horrifying video to discuss. There are some key differences: This video involves a Missouri high school, for example, it first appeared on Snapchat, and this time, it’s a student flinging out the racial slurs.

Perhaps the most important difference, however, is that in this 20-second viral video, the teen doesn’t just use offensive language. He threatens to lynch his peers.

Yes, really.

That goose-stepper has a job waiting with the Republican Party. RESIST!!

From NY Times: Scott Morrison, Australia’s conservative prime minister, won his first full term in office on Saturday, confounding expectations that the country’s voters were ready for a change in course after six years of tumultuous leadership under his party.

The polls had pointed to a loss for Mr. Morrison’s right-leaning coalition for months.

With a handful of seats still looking too close to call, it remained possible that Mr. Morrison would have to lead a minority government, rather than retaining outright control.

I trust condolences are in order for my Oz friends. RESIST!!
