I’m improving gradually.  WWWendy is coming soon, and we have a busy day.  This is today’s only article, with no links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:28 (5:13 average).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (SNL Channel): Don’t Stop Me Now Cold Open

Stop Trump and the Republican Reich! NOW!! RESIST!!

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): Lie Us Into War – Parody

Great one, Don! Isn’t that the only way the Republican Reich commits war? RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Just yesterday, we covered the sickening story of a St. Paul, Minnesota, teacher describing her black students as ‘f——g n——s’ on video. Today, we have a different yet also horrifying video to discuss. There are some key differences: This video involves a Missouri high school, for example, it first appeared on Snapchat, and this time, it’s a student flinging out the racial slurs.

Perhaps the most important difference, however, is that in this 20-second viral video, the teen doesn’t just use offensive language. He threatens to lynch his peers.

Yes, really.

That goose-stepper has a job waiting with the Republican Party. RESIST!!

  1. 28  SNL just gets Better Loved it!
    The whole group too
    Thank you TomCat

  2. That teen needs to be sent to reform school or boot camp or something – he definitely needs therapy. He could all too easily devolve into a terrorist. Attitudes like his have no place in the 21st century of the Common Era. And yes, he is precisely what Republicans are becoming.

  3. SNL: Such a fun, talented group of folks there. Love the cast, wish they were on longer though….dam.

PP: Spot on! An excellent rallying cry against all the lies!

DK: I’m all for expelling him, but also have an ARD on him. Put him into an alternative school for the next semester, or longer. Get him ticketed, and to have him serve community service, i.e., picking up trash alongside the road, for example. Social services needs to be contacted as well, to explore the home environment. Since the police were notified, and didn’t see/think anything wrong on this issue, I’d see what they have to say about the terrorist threat that he made to video, and do it in a city council meeting. This kid needs counseling, and by that I mean, cultural relations counseling and or classes. His hate is real, and it needs to be addressed.

Cartoon: There are songs that one remembers for a long, long time. This is one of those.

HI, WWWendy! Glad that you are feeling better. Don’t overdo though. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. 5:42 Not Wishbone.

SNL – Very creatively presented – but still straight news (which must please Mike Pence.)

Other PP – Some of us always saw through them (Barbara Lee, for example). Others of us will NEVER see through this ploy.

DKos – (Marissa Higgins) has been doing an excellent job lately of covering these incidents. I might point out that Missouri was admitted to the US as a slavery state (remember the Missouri Compromise?), and also that the team name of this school is “Kickapoo Chiefs,” which suggests the school, and the school district are not very “woke.” In that environment, I would expect law enforcement to make a distinction between “we f-ing should” and “we f-ing are going to,” and deide the language is not a threat. I don’t agree, of course. I would also, however, point out that if this is, as it sounds like, a public school, and the students of color are US citizens, as the Constitution dictates, they DO “own the place” co-equally with the melanin-deprived. The school is probably full of such melanin-deprived bigots, students and faculty alike. The history of the human race suggests that punishment as a deterrent (i.e., not to deter the offender from repeating, but to deter OTHERS from offending in the same way) does NOT work. What the whole town really needs is re-education with a concentration in civics. I don’t see that happening any time soon.

Cartoon – Oh, no, I’m not going there.

I think this deserves a “This just in,” even though it’s actually from almost a year ago (June 2018): “The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incercerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It’s almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, poer, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in Short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.

Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.

    – Dave Barnhart is a Methodist pastor in Birmingham, AL.

    • Sadly, Missouri shall ever be branded with the “666” sign for that compromise.

Kickapoo HS is a public high school.  And sadly, its location in Springfield, MO doesn’t get a whole lot redder.

Presently, there’s just too much “red” between KCMO Metro, Boone County/Columbia (U of M), and St. Louis Metro to turn us blue.

      • You have my deepest sympathies, Nameless.  I too am a blue island in a sea of red, and neither of us is a product of the location, because neither of us was born where we now are.  It’s tough.

  5. SNL: Great opening act. Loved the job they did.
PP: Perfect one …to tell tRump we don’t want another war, nor anymore of his lies.
DK: Agree with Pat that the student needs to be expelled. We don’t need or want that type of crap in our schools today.
Glad to hear that you are improving. Just make sure you’re not pushing yourself too much. We want you to get better fast. Enjoy your time with Wendy.

  6. SNL: Sorry I missed it, especially guessing that Muller played more of a role in it.
PPC: Saw it earlier today, great!
DK: Very sad!  He needs o be expelled, and wear a tracking device wired to the local police, or sheriff, because he is the kind of kid that can come back to the school with gun, or 2, or 3.
‘Toon: Great song, and delivery, but also sad.

  7. “the police do not think threatening LYNCHING to the Black & LGBTQIA teens in High School is a POLICE MATTER!!”

    WTF?!?! Why not???

    That little POS scared me!!!

  8. 3:01 Sorry, I know you would have loved to have that dawg for tea, TomCat.

SNL: Oh, no. It’s not the end of the season, is it?

PP: Still keeping my fingers crossed Don’s reflecting the sentiments of the majority of Americans in parodies like this.

DK: That’s how it starts, pathetic, frustrated white teenagers with a soda sugar-rush and mental-health issues, trying to make themselves look ‘like a real man’ by mouthing off in front of a phone. If this happened in another country, I would have suggested to give this kid some counselling. But his daddy probably has a cupboard full of guns; he might even own some himself, so this squeak will need to be watched too and put away safely when his frustration is about to boil over.
