It’s a muggy, lazy day, here at the CatBox.  WWWendy and I stuffed ourselves on ribs.  I fell asleep, before the fireworks started and slept through them.  It’s a slow day for news.  I’m not going to write a Bone Spurs article about how Revolutionary War “citizens” stormed the airports at Ft. McHenry.  Therefore. this is my only article today, with no links messages on Care2.  Later I have to wrap the TomCat around more ribs.

From Think Progress: Anchorage, Alaska, broke its own state record on the Fourth of July, recording a high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit — five degrees above the previous record of 85 degrees Fahrenheit, set in 1969.

The National Weather Service in Anchorage warned of high temperatures earlier this week, explaining that a building high-pressure ridge would blanket the state in a heat wave. Climate researchers have said the unprecedented high temperatures are “unusual.”

“It’s entirely possible that the warmest temperature ever recorded in Anchorage could be exceeded three to five days in a row,” Brian Brettschneider, a climate researcher at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, told NBC News. “That’s the definition of unusual.”

I sadly suspect that the Republican Reich has the following solution. They will soon me marketing the corpses of extinct species as 1% gourmet food. RESIST!!

It’s a busy day, here at the CatBox.  The CCC rep told me late yesterday that I have qualified and will get the unit in the Madrona Studios.  It should be ready to view next weekend, so WWWendy and I plan a look-see a week from Sunday.  I just hope it doesn’t blow up at the last minute… again.  Today is a WWWendy Day.  She will be coming mid-afternoon and, after we destink the rancid TomCat, we’re having BBQ ribs.  Her two Shiatsus, who I have nicknamed Oh and Shit, get the bones.  Were this not a Republican Reich, I’d wish you a happy 4th.

From The New Yorker: Calling it “incredibly exciting news,” President Donald Trump revealed on Wednesday that his long-planned Fourth of July parade in Washington will include a flyover by Russian Su-24 fighter planes.

“These are beautiful, gleaming Russian planes,” Trump boasted to Tucker Carlson, of Fox News. “I’m the first American President who’s had Russian fighters flying over Washington.”

He said that he finalized the flyover deal while speaking to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, at the G-20 Summit last week. “Putin said, ‘This is the least we can do, after all you’ve done for us,’ ” Trump said.

Dang, Andy! If this is true I will not be at all surprised. RESIST!!

Duncan Hunter’s lawyers are asking a judge to keep the jury in Hunter’s campaign finance violations trial from hearing that he spent campaign money on his affairs with five different women. And the lawyers, saying that Hunter was “a married man mixing business with pleasure,” have come up with a line of argument that’s … creative.

Hunter is on trial for having spent campaign money for personal reasons, including not just affairs but vacations, clothes, and video games. His expenditures on affairs, then, are entirely relevant to the charges he faces. But! Hunter carried on these affairs with three lobbyists, a staffer in his own office, and a Republican National Committee official. So his lawyers are arguing that the money he spent in the course of having affairs with them should count as a legitimate political expenditure.
