It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  I had a fine breakfast of steak in scrambled eggs, yogurt, rye bread and butter.  I took a morning nap.  I did my research.  Today is a holy day in the Church if the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are playing on Sunday Night Football this evening, so it will be televised here.  May the Holy Ellipsoid Orb shine its blessed light on your team, unless they play in an arrow head.  Have a fine Sunday!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:15 (average 5:07).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Cartoon:

An annual day of mourning for the Republican Reich!

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Lately, it seems that right-wing heroes and heroines du jour turn out to be slimeballs and reprobates. Well, add another to the list—Melissa Carone, the star witness in the Trump campaign’s attempt to overturn Biden’s win there due to baseless claims of voter fraud.

By now, you’ve seen Carone’s bonkers testimony before a Michigan state house panel, in which she claimed to have seen all manner of fraud while votes were being counted at the TCF Center. Her claims were so off the rails that even Rudy Giuliani had to try to rein her in. Earlier, she’d claimed to have seen ballots smuggled inside vans. A judge had previously ruled Carone’s claims were “not credible.”

For most of the week, people have wondered whether Carone had been too well served during her testimony. But it turns out there’s another reason to question her credibility. Two years ago, she was busted for sending obscene messages to her boyfriend’s ex-wife.

As I see it, sexual content is not what made this sleazy.  What made it so is that her boyfriend’s ex-wife apparently did not consent to be the recipient of Carone’s GOPORN. That she did this should not surprise anyone. The gospel in a Republican Reich is that women should be obscene and not heard.  RESIST!!

From NPR (Hat-Tip Mitch [ours, nor BBMM]): Under the order filed Friday, Judge Nicholas Garaufis of the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn instructed the Department of Homeland Security to begin accepting new applications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program as soon as Monday.

In his ruling, Garaufis said the terms of the federal program must be immediately restored to what they were “prior to the attempted rescission of September 2017” when the White House began a series of maneuvers to dismantle the program.

The judge also instructed officials to reinstate two-year permits for qualifying applicants. Over the summer, the administration had begun issuing one-year permits.

Kudos to Judge Garaufis, who was appointed by Bill Clinton. There are few judges left that do not bear the 666 of Bought Bitch Midnight Moscow Mitch etched into their foreheads. Win the Senate!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (SNL Channel): Michigan Hearings Cold Open

As talented as she is, Kate just cannot convey the sense of evil with which Rudy 9/11 reflects the Republican Reich. Nevertheless, SNL was hilarious as usual.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast of Christmas): Nat King Cole – Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

May God grant that our nation and the whole world might overcome the pseudo-Christian hatred that the Republican Reich has inflicted on us!  RESIST!!

  1. Sounds like a good day. May the Holy Ellipsoid Orb smile on you and your team, Amen, yea verily, Amen!

On Tuesday, at 7 pm Eastern (6 Central, 5 Mountain, 4 Pacific) PEN America will have their annual awards ceremony. This year it is being held virtually, and can be streamed for free. “The event will include President Barack Obama in conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ron Chernow about Obama’s new memoir A Promised Land, the importance of truth, and the freedom to write….Join us for this unique, one-night-only event as we toast to human rights, celebrate the power of words, and recognize our deserving Honorees.”

I have a modest proposal for anti-maskers. They won’t have to wear a mask, provided that they wear clothing that says “CoViD” in large visible letters, stay outside the city limits (all cities, and carry and ring a bell announcing their presence.

    Cartoon – Mourning indeed.

DK – It was a deliberate slap in the face. “See how much fun your ex is having now. Too bad you couldn’t keep him.” She was convicted and got a year’s probation (which she very recently completed.) My immediate question was, how did she manage to complete probation? It’s not all that easy. One little slip which might not even be a slip if you weren’t on probation, and you’re back in. Also, there is money involved, even if you are not fined – court costs and fees.

NPR – That was the actual biggest news from Friday. Rachel did an explication of a story from earlier in the week (why all the DOD firings and lunatic hirings now when he has to know they won’t stand? Answer – basically to booby-trap Joe and Kamala. IOW, just for spite. Spiting HIS political rivals with OUR national security. Sounds about right.) This DACA news was very good news indeed.

SNL – “He who smelt it, dealt it.” LOL! Someone at DU predicted that Cecily Strong would play Melissa “Because Kate was needed to play Rudy.” Sounds like a pretty good guess to me.

Blast – Mendelssohn and Cole. Great combination!

    • If you look at my response to Rachel in yesterday’s Video Thread, you’ll see my nightmarish thoughts on the pentagon changes: preparation for a declaration of martial law.

  2. Cartoon: Oh, but of course!
DK: Definitely off the rails. One would think that they’ve seen everything, but realize one hasn’t. What a liar, and off the rails. Not embarrassed either. She’d do well on dt’s team, wouldn’t she?
NPR: PTL !! and PTL !! So glad to see that Judge Garaufis took care of this. Wonderful news!
SNL: Kate did a good job, but like you said, she is not the evil tyrant who hangs out with evil tyrant #1. She’s so talented !!
YT: Love listening to Nat King Cole. Haven’t heard this in awhile, it’s a wonderful, sweet & relaxing song.
Amen to your prayer too, TC. Amen!

Your breakfast sounded delicious! Glad you got a nap in too. Best to you and your team, we are 20, w/the Colts ahead at 24. Enjoy your game, hope your team wins too.

*This just in: “It is the only thing we can do, Klass. I see no alternative. Each of us must turn inward and destroy himself all that he thinks he ought to destroy in others.” Etty Hillesum – Auschwitz – H/T Mitch D.
    2. “Part of building back better is having a government that is ethical in it’s conduct…if this administration skirts these rules, I don’t think that they are fulfilling their promise to the American people.” ~ Scott Amey, General Counsel – H/T J. D.
    3. “Donald Trump tells supporters he has never lost an election in his first rally since losing the election.” ~ Evan Vucci ~
    4. “Hey! Remember when the Republicans took an oath to uphold the Constitution? Yeah…neither do the Republicans.” ~ Jeff Tiedrich ~
    5. “At the Georgia Rally – Trump never promotes anybody else besides himself. He is there for the attention/validation, NOT to help Republicans.” ~ Debbie C. ~
    6. “Re: covid – “Ignore the president. Ignore whatever is going on with that circus.” ~ Rachel Maddow ~

  3. WOW! Your breakfast sounds scrumptious!  (I had a cup of coffee and a French baguette from Panera – well, not the whole thing, just a wedge.)

[NOTE: The Chiefs beat the ponies 43-16 AT Mile High earlier this year.  GO CHIEFS!

When I saw video of Giuliani and his “star witness” at the Michigan hearing, I thought for sure that Rudy had convinced Victoria Jackson to testify.

Looks just like and is equally brain-dead!

  4. Sounds like a fine breakfast, and I’m glad your body is holding onto these.
‘Toon: That’s why conservatives like to harken back to “The Good Old Days,” and wish to revive them.
DK: I guess that the especially sleazy GOPIGGIES are the ones especially attracted to the likes of Trump and Rudy.
NPR: I was very happy thread about it, and very happy to pass it on.  The same of it, of course, is that such a ruling was needed, in the first place.
SNL: Like someone said recently, “what are we going to do for laughs when Trump is gone?”
Hearing Nat “King” Cole’s voice can easily make me tear up.  “The Christmas Song,” with its roasting chestnuts, especially.  One of the enjoys of my youth, once we got a TV, was watching his show.  Sadly, he made the mistake of repeatedly putting off medical attention for the cancer that killed him, saying that his fans needed him too much to take time away form his vocation.

  5. TJI#1: From Pico Iyer’s book about the Dalai Lama, “The Open Road, The Global Journey of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama.”  Iyer’s father was one of the first to welcome him to India, in, or around, 1958, and they had a long friendship.  I’ve had a flurry of e-mail correspondence with Iyer, about the quote.  He wrote that the book from which it came “An Interrupted Life,” is one that he recommends to “…all my friends.” It is now on its way to me, via B&N.
    TJI’s# 4,5,6: Spot on!

  6. Carone comes across as a typical conservative – mean-spirited, nasty, hateful, unable to deal with reality. She knows as well as anybody that tRump lost Michigan, and lost the election. Let us be thankful that the Orange Ogre’s coup attempts have been unsuccessful, at least up to now. However, remember that he told the Proud Boy scum to “stand back and stand by.” No telling what those wack jobs will do–

  7. Cartoon: Bet the rotten R’s wished that this amendment never happened.
DK: Despicable bi*ch. I take it that all these idiots who want to side with tRump regarding winning the election, must not have anything else in life to do.
NPR: Great job, Judge Nicholas Garaufis. I was so pleased that they’re going to start excepting the DACA applications again. I’ve been signing so many petitions ever since tRump started his ban on them.
SNL: Love watching their show. Get a real kick on how they can turn our current chaotic affairs into a comedy.
BOC: Wow, Nat King Cole. I remember my mom playing his albums when I was younger. Loved his music. Thanks for the memories.
Glad to read that you’re eating healthier well balanced meals. Hope you will enjoy watching your team tonight.
Have a great night. Take care. Thanks TomCat

  8. Breakfast sounded great; when you get it into your stomach your digestion seems in good enough order to take care of it, TomCat

3:13 Nice and cool, something I could do with right now.

Caroon:L Is the “except as in punishment for crime” part still working? I suppose chain-gangs would come under that.

DK: Why can a judge and a jury see that Melissa Carone has serious health problems, being drunk or doped-up while testifying being one of them, which make her unreliable but half a nation couldn’t and still can’t see them in Trump?

NPR: So good to see DACA restored so soon, again making it clear that Trump no longer has a say in it. Kudos for judge Nicholas Garaufis not waiting until Trump is dragged out of his bunker.

    SNL: Hilarious indeed!

    BFXmas: Sweet.

  9. Thanks and AMAZED Hugs to all! 28
