Defrauded Again!

A few days ago the Orange Cheato Bandito, aka Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten, expounded at length about how his tariff threats had made Mexico back down.  He said his wisdom had helped protect us all from all the vile evils that cross the border with those sub-human refugees.  It turns out that this happened completely differently from Trump’s claim.  He, not the Mexicans, was the one that backed down.

President Donald Trump took a victory lap this weekend for an 11th hour Mexico trade and immigration deal that narrowly averted the imposition of tariffs by Washington on its southern neighbor.

But as a senior Democratic lawmaker explained on Sunday, rather than bending Mexico to his will, the agreement ultimately amounted to a cave-in by the president to his fellow GOP lawmakers, who over the past few several days have objected strenuously to the proposed tariffs.

And news reports said Sunday that the agreement reached by negotiators actually just reaffirmed a deal already agreed upon by Washington and Mexico City… [emphasis added]

If Trump ever tells the truth about anything, the shock to our systems may be terminal.

  1. Yeah, agree with your comment, Tom. He’s a disaster, and world leaders (good & bad), know it.
If he were Pinocchio, his nose would be …oh, say 10 miles long by now? Maybe longer…lol

  2. Those of us who check the facts and know the truth are not defrauded, though. Screwed, yes. Defrauded, no. Oddly, in this case, we are actually LESS screwed than if he HAD been telling the truth and Mexico HAD backed down.

  3. The random way the universe runs (see “The Drunkards Walk, How Randomness Rules Our Lives,” by Mlodinow, Leonard) indicates that all sorts of previously unimaginable things can, and do happen with some actual regularity.  These include a real estate “mogul,” who lost billions of dollars, being chosen to do a TV show in which he got to judge aspiring young business people’s business acumen, winding up as resident in the W.H.   So, if he ever tells a real, not half-ass, truth, the shock may indeed be “terminal.”

  4. The Mango Muttonhead reminds me of a cartoon I saw many years ago. In the first panel, a boy is aiming an arrow at a target painted on a fence. In the second, the arrow hits way off target. In the third, he is painting a new target with the arrow at the bullseye.

  5. The sad part is that his Orwellian vision of “Truth” is fully embraced by his head lawyer:

(When you can elicit a facepalm from Chucky Todd you know you have really gone over the top!)

  6. He’s been [raising/patting himself on the back all weekend long.
He’s a flipping disgrace to our country.
He’s done nothing but made a bigger fool of himself.

  7. The loser in the WH twists and turns in the wind, anything to make him look better, whether it is true or not (usually is not true).  I think the world would stop spinning on its axis if he ever told the truth!

  8. Thanks and sad hugs. 05
