I have terrible news. They cancelled my move, because of a paperwork glitch. They did the paperwork for a Fair Market Unit. To qualify I need < 50% of a median household income. I do quality. The temporary unit I was going to, until a fair unit in the building is available, is a Hooper Detox unit. The government subsidy rep refused to sign off on treating the unit as temporary and insisted I meet the qualifications for that unit, which is < 40% of median household income. I don’t qualify. They explained my disabilities and how they had to put me in an inadequate unit here. The government subsidy rep didn’t care. I must have gotten a damn Republican. I will get the next fair market unit that opens there, be it in a day or a year. I’m so frustrated! This is my only article today. I just need a day to cry and get my head around this. AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

From The New Yorker: Donald Trump has reached a groundbreaking deal with the Hawaiian Islands to make them the nation’s fiftieth state, Trump confirmed on Monday.
Calling it “my most incredible deal yet,” Trump said that he had forced Hawaii to bend to his will and “cough up billions” to become a state.
“This is a big win for our country,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “Hawaii is going to be a beautiful and amazing state.”
Just minutes after his announcement, however, there was significant pushback from Hawaii, which claimed that it had already reached a deal to become a state in 1959.
That claim swiftly drew the ire of Trump, who denounced Hawaii’s alleged sixty years of statehood as “fake news” and “disgraceful.”
Dang Andy! If the Fuhrer steals the 2020 election, Hawaii will agree that it’s fake news and stay out. RESIST!!

Oh! Tom!! I’m so sorry to read this. I was hoping (and praying) for you and your move to go well, and now this. I understand your tears of frustration. I would be too. Take good care of yourself, and always remember too, there’s a reason for why things (like this) happen, God only knows, but He w/take care of you.

Unfortunately, the above is not enough to offset your news. I could cry myself. You must have indeed drawn a Republican for the final (non-)approval. The sane people in the system who have been working with you are probably crying too. (If I remember right, Portland is far enough off the coast that the resulting sea level rise from all those tears won’t hit you, but the Columbia River may overflow.) I’m so sorry. Prayers for a new unit to open FAST.
TNY – Bite your tongue. Yes, by and large Hawaii is sensible enough to seize that opportunity, but I surely hope it doesn’t occur.
Cartoon – We MIGHT be able to lock up all the people who are actually desecrating the flag today, if we released everyone who is servine\g a drug related sentence at the state level and the federal level. But maybe not even then. Besides, some of them have also desecrated the flag. Look at Shkreli (or don’t – I don’t blame you if you can’t stand to.)
I used to take the train home from Chicago on holidays when I was in med school so I could study those 3 hours. I loved it!
Of course that was back when the trains actually stopped in my home town. (But I will say getting to LaSalle Street Station w/ luggage & books was a pain. You have NO idea how heavy those stone tablets we studied from were!)
LOL! But it wouldn’t need to be stone tablets — just thick textbooks (paper is actually very heavy) and luggage with no wheels.
If the Cheat-oh thinks the Moon is part of Mars, he just might think Hawaii isn’t a state.
Destroying what a flag is supposed to represent is far worse desecration than anything you can do to it physically.

I feel your frustration Tom. I have had similar problems myself. I ended up moving 100’s of miles from my home city just to get into a unit. I hate it hear, but I had to take what I could get. I’m in the middle of nowhere, which makes it difficult to see any doctors and now I’m going to lose my free rides to doctor’s appointments and have already cancelled important doctor’s appointments. Behind the scene (and reported little by news organizations) Trump is moving to cut Social Security and Medicare, by a lot.
Good luck Tom. If it gets bad contact your Congressional Representative for help.
I for one am well aware of the efforts to cut Social Security and Medicare, and I wouldn’t me surprised if all of us – especially those of us who are seniors – are also – they are probably getting the same emails that I am. I am not too worried about it so much with the present Congress, because it only take one house to stop it, and this House will. But God help us if we don’t win, and win big, in 2020.
Jerry, I’m so sorry. You are far worse off than I, and I wish that were not so.
