The more I think about it, the more I agree with Elizabeth Warren that it’s time to open an impeachment investigation into Putin’s Pet Pervert and Obstructer-in-Chief, Resident Donald Trump. Civil Rights hero and Representative Elijah Cummings [D-MD] might not be quite there yet. However he is clearly leaning in that direction.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MA [sic]), chair of the House Oversight Committee, on Sunday predicted that history will “smile upon” the lawmakers who pursue the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
In an interview on Face the Nation, CBS host Bob Schieffer noted that several high profile Democrats are calling for impeachment proceedings to begin due to the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation report.
“This is a political act, and if you do vote to impeach him and then the Senate votes not to remove him, won’t that look like a victory for him?” Schieffer wondered.
“It may very well, but you know, sometimes, Bob, I got to tell you, there comes a point in life where we all have to make decisions based upon the fact that it is on our watch,” Cummings replied. “History, I think, even if we did not win possibly, if there were not impeachment, I think history would smile upon us for standing up for the Constitution.”… [emphasis added]

As I see it, this is the bottom line. If we take no action, it will embolden Trump, Pence, the Republican Reich, and their Russian allies to interfere in the 2020 election. In 2016, Obama did nothing, because Bought Bitch Mitch objected. Look where we are now.
Do we want to be the party of political expedience, because we think it will help us get elected, or the party that takes a risk, because it’s the right thing to do? You tell me.

I’m on board.. still keep going with the investigations, but do what’s right for all of us. Mueller’s report is out, get the redacted portions out, verify that the road is clear….and let’s get the ball rolling.
Hey, give Obama his due. Bought Bitch Mitch didn’t just object, he threatened action so vile as to be unimaginable, and Obama knew (and we know) he was capable of being that vile.
I don’t think we are ready at this point to do anything which commits us to a “court” date (in the Senate). We are already investigating. I am happy that we are aggressively investigating impeachable offenses. I can wait for actual impeachment proceedings to be filed until after some of the actors in the investigation have testified in Congress. But that testimony should be taken soon.
Incidentally, Trump is now suing Elijah to block his subpoenas of financial records.

It is not enough to impeach tRump – we must make sure that his orange arse is kicked out of the Oval Office. Also, we must make sure that the Blue Wave of 2020 is even bigger than that of 2018.
Elijah Cummings is one of the people I respect most in American Politics so his views count with me. But it’s easy to agree with him, many of us have been thinking the same thing. It is time to stand on principle, it is time to standing up for the Constitution.
Drumpf has been calling ‘Witch Hunt’ for two years now, so the followers that still have a thinking brain may be getting a little tired of it. If it’s politically opportune, only time will tell. As long as none of the Democratic candidates makes the mistake of using impeachment to run on while it is ongoing. Witch hunt will then stick all to easily. Candidates should leave it mostly to Congress to fight that battle.
Barr shows that same self-satisfied, smarmy, smug face that so many GOPIGGIES are wont to display, knowing in the center of their being, in that little deep shith*le of a spot of being, that they are getting away, so far, with virtual murder! Asking for Barr to do the “proper” thing is like asking for snake venom to do “nicey, nicey!”
I am willing to move from insisting that we do not go for impeachment, for fear of giving full rein to the vengeance of the donald, (typo left in on purpose) and move ahead to, as it was said, “stand up for the Constitution.”
