It’s a crazy day here in the CatBox.  I’ve been having trouble changing my Fentanyl patches.  They are tiny, transparent and sticky.  Because my previous surgery to knock out eye cancer damaged my eyes, everything I see  is blurry, and I have double vision.  Also, my hands shake when I try to do delicate work.  So far, I have destroyed two patches trying to change them, and with a copay of $10 per patch, that has to change.  To solve the problem WWWendy will come every three days, instead of twice per week, so she can change my patch, when she’s here.  Therefore, my WWWendy days will change every week, and my schedule here will be variable.  I may be a bit scarce for the next two days.  Store to Door is closed for the Fourth, so I ordered my groceries from Safeway.com.  They will be delivering a huge order between 8:00 and 10:00 AM, and it will take me a long time to unbag them and put them away.  Then WWWendy will be coming Thursday morning to destink the rancid TomCat, change my patch, goop, and help with chores.  Don’t forget to remind everyone to flush the Republican Reich!

From The New Yorker: In an act of retaliation against the Russians for sponsoring Taliban attacks on U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Donald J. Trump is sending Jared Kushner to the Kremlin to offer advice on its coronavirus response, the White House confirmed on Monday.

“To all those who thought that this President was not taking the Russians’ actions seriously, this response should speak for itself,” the White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, said. “The President had an array of responses to choose from, and the one he selected is by far the most punishing.”

According to White House insiders, Trump and his advisers debated the response to the Russians for hours before finally settling on the Kushner option late Sunday night.

“Jared Kushner is the most brutal weapon in our arsenal, and deploying him is a decision that no one should ever take lightly,” one adviser said.

Awww, come on, Andy. Criminal Fuhrer Trump* would never do such a horrible thing to his favorite butt plug, Vladimir Putin [R-RU]. Furthermore, that would be a clear casus belliRESIST!!

From Daily Kos: At least one House Democrat has had enough with Republicans ignoring mask requirements during House committee hearings. Rep. Jim Clyburn, head of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, has written a letter to ranking Republican Steve Scalise warning him that if committee Republicans continue to show up at hearings without masks, those Republicans will not be recognized to speak during subcommittee meetings. At all.

Clyburn was not particularly polite about it, either. In his letter, Clyburn reminds Scalise that it was Scalise who “repeatedly” has wanted in-person hearings and “you assured me that this could be done safely.” But when “every single Republican Member of the Subcommittee refused to comply” with congressional mask rules, Clyburn was fed up.

Kudos to Jim Clyburn. I hope that the other Democratic heads of committees and subcommittees, both women and men, grow a pair too!  RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Given the intensity of the conspiracy theories on the radical right that have arisen around the coronavirus pandemic—particularly the number of rightists claiming that government lockdown orders are an initial step in the imposition of a tyrannical order—it was only a matter of time before the U.S. experienced its first coronavirus-related act of domestic terrorism.

On Tuesday, a Missouri man named Timothy Wilson made preparations to set off a car bomb at a local hospital in suburban Belton, which was intended as a revolt against the stay-at-home order issued by Belton’s mayor, but his plan was cut short by an FBI raid. When he apparently resisted with a weapon, he ended up being shot and killed.

It’s That Day Again:

From The New Yorker: For the third year in a row, Donald J. Trump has been named Person of the Year by the magazine Popular Sociopath, the publication announced on Thursday.

“Once a year, we at Popular Sociopath recognize the person who best epitomizes sociopathic-personality disorder, which manifests in antisocial behavior and a total absence of conscience and concern for others,” Harland Dorrinson, the magazine’s editor, said. “We are delighted to bestow this honor, once again, on Donald J. Trump.”

Dorrinson said that Trump bested a daunting roster of competitors for the title, including the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell; the Fox News host Tucker Carlson; and Trump’s own son Donald J. Trump, Jr.

I’m pleased that House Democrats, aided by a single, solitary Republican, passed the Voting Rights Enhancement Act.  It updates the Voting Rights Act to restore it to its former state, before SCROTUS (Republican Anti-Constitutional VD) allowed the Republican Party to disenfranchise millions of Black, Latino, and other minority voters

1207Voting Rights

On Friday, House Democrats passed the Voting Rights Advancement Act, a bill that would restore and expand the protections of the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court’s Republican majority gutted in 2013. The bill passed 228-187 with all 227 Democrats and Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick voting in favor while the other 186 Republicans and Republican-turned-independent Rep. Justin Amash voted against the bill.

The new legislation would establish a new formula to determine which states and localities must “preclear” any proposed changes to election laws and procedures with the Justice Department. The previous preclearance regime, which was struck down in 2013, applied to states and localities—largely in the South—with a history of racial discrimination in their voting laws.

Under the new setup, any state where officials have committed at least 15 voting rights violations over a 25-year period would be required to obtain preclearance for 10 years. If the state itself, rather than localities within the state, is responsible for the violations, it would take only 10 violations to place it under preclearance. In addition, any particular locality could individually be subjected to preclearance if it commits at least three violations.

Based on this formula, the VRAA would put 11 states back under preclearance: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. While most of these states are still in the South (and also under Republican control), the list also includes the two largest Democratic-leaning states in the country, California and New York…

Note that the bill is fair, as it targets areas where there has been some Democratic abuse, in addition to all the areas of extreme Republican abuse today.

Trump immediately threatened to veto it.

Trump will never get the chance to veto it.  Bought Butch Moscow Mitch knows that Republicans cannot win fair elections, so they have to make sure there are no more.

House Intel Committee Report

Yesterday the House Intelligence Committee completed their their report outlining some of the high crimes and misdemeanors committed by Resident Donald Trump.  I have read the summary and skimmed the document, and it is truly magnificent.  It is a shame that Trump will have Bought Bitch Moscow Mitch protecting him in the Senate.  Nevertheless you should understand the report, so you can teach others, especially those who are not paying attention, with 2020 in mind.

1204report

House Democrats on Tuesday asserted that President Trump abused his power by pressuring Ukraine to help him in the 2020 presidential election, releasing an impeachment report that found the president “placed his own personal and political interests above the national interests of the United States.”

The report by the House Intelligence Committee was a sweeping indictment of the president’s behavior, concluding that he sought to undermine American democracy and endangered national security, then worked to conceal his actions from Congress. Democrats left it to another committee to decide whether to recommend Mr. Trump’s impeachment, but their report presented what are all but certain to be the grounds on which the House votes to formally charge him.

“The founding fathers prescribed a remedy for a chief executive who places his personal interests above those of the country: impeachment,” it said.

The intelligence panel adopted it, strictly along partisan lines, hours after its release…
