It’s another sick fay here in the CatBox. I need to go back to bed and rest, so I have the strength to deal with grocery delivery when Store to door comes. Diana is coming tomorrow morning to check me out, so if you don’t hear from me, it will mean she said to go to the hospital. JD, would you please cover Sam? Everyone, have a great day.

Hammering Trump’s irresponsibility regarding the novel coronavirus seems to be working, as major advertisers are still coming out with new ads on the subject.

The Lincoln Project – an ad addressed to Hispanics – and sane people of all stripes.

It’s a slow-ish day. I could throw in you a video of a Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputy giving instruction on how to fabricate false evidence – but that would be disturbing and depressing. How about I just quote this from George Takei instead (it was a long Tweet thread but has been unrolled for readability)?

When I was just 5 years old, soldiers marched up to our home in Los Angeles and ordered us out. We had done nothing wrong, our crime was looking like the people who had bombed Pearl Harbor. The laws and the Constitution failed to protect us. /2

No one dared stand up for us then. Politicians on both sides, from FDR in the White House to Earl Warren in Sacramento, took advantage of the fear and racism for their own political gain. We lost our home. Our friends lost businesses. We all lost our freedom. /3

I remember reciting the Pledge of Allegiance from a makeshift classroom inside the barbed wire fence of an internment camp. Most of us spoke English because we were born in America and were U.S. citizens. But that didn’t matter. America had forgotten its promises. /4

After we were out, many of us, including myself, dedicated our lives to ensuring that something like this would never happen again inside of America. We knew how fragile our freedoms and liberties really were. We knew we had to safeguard them. /5

Today, I have no doubt that if something similar happened to one group of people, there would be massive protests and an upswell of support. From this I understand thatwWe have learned much as a country. But it’s also very easy for us to forget, to be misled, to diminish. /6

It takes hard work to keep our Republic and our democracy strong. Every time we stand up against the forces of fascism, for the rule of law, for decency and humanity, we strike a blow against tyranny and evil. The fight is what keeps us vigilant and strong. /7

We have not faced such an existential threat to our system since I was a child. And so once again, we must stand and meet it. When we do, we will emerge stronger, and the lessons will be felt in our bones for future generations to heed and appreciate. /8

This is why I remain motivated, why I do not despair, why I know that while we have been here before, we can overcome it. We must summon enough strength and win the hearts of all good Americans. In 50 days, we can and will prevail. /9

I am 83 years old, but I am also that 5 year old, looking out at a dusty American flag and reciting those words, “With liberty and justice for all.” Only now, I know their true meaning after a lifetime of fighting for them. So fight with me. Stand up. Vote. /end

It’s a crappy day here in the CatBox. I managed to eat this morning, but breakfast took over two hours. I’m feeling tired, pained, and down. I’m going back to bed. This is my only article today. I’ll be back in the saddle tomorrow, if I feel better. Happy Hump Day!

Robert Reich – Racism is profitable. For years I have been predicting another French Revolution-style event here. It has not happened, and I am starting to see why it won’t. France did not have a large minority of black and/or brown people whom they could exploit to divide the poor and pit them against each other. It’s a painful day here in the CatBox, and this is my only article. I don’t know whether this is a side effect of the inflammation from my treatment or a sign that my disease is getting worse, but I feel completely worn out; I am still having trouble eating, because my esophagus feels raw; and my back pain is worse. Tonight is a WWWendy night. What I do tomorrow will have to depend on how I feel. Tuesday is flush your Republicans day, and I’m sure I’ll be making a throne run before I publish this (success).

From NY Times: The top communications official at the powerful cabinet department in charge of combating the coronavirus made outlandish and false accusations on Sunday that career government scientists were engaging in “sedition” in their handling of the pandemic and that left-wing hit squads were preparing for armed insurrection after the election.

Michael R. Caputo, the assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services, accused the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of harboring a “resistance unit” determined to undermine President Trump, even if that opposition bolsters the Covid-19 death toll.

Mr. Caputo, who has faced intense criticism for leading efforts to warp C.D.C. weekly bulletins to fit Mr. Trump’s pandemic narrative, suggested that he personally could be in danger from opponents of the administration. “If you carry guns, buy ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s going to be hard to get,” he urged his followers.

He went further, saying his physical health was in question, and his “mental health has definitely failed.”

Criminal Fuhrer Trump* has demonstrated once again how much he cares about preventing the spread of the Republican plague, Trump* virus, at his campaign events.

President Donald Trump is downplaying worries about holding indoor rallies during the COVID-19 pandemic on the grounds that he doesn’t feel like he will be infected with the disease.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the president dismissed concerns about potentially spreading the disease with indoor rallies, which epidemiologists have warned could serve as super spreader events.

“I’m on a stage and it’s very far away,” Trump said. “And so I’m not at all concerned.”

Of course, the concern with holding indoor rallies isn’t so much about the president getting infected, but that thousands of rally goers may get infected and then spread it back to their families and communities when they return home… [emphasis added]

Every time Trump* holds a super-spreader event, like the one at which Trump* murdered Herman “999” Cain, there is an uptick in infections and deaths among the Sheeple too stupid to stay away, not mention the families, friends and communities they infect. As long as he’s ok, Trump* cares only about hanging onto power. He doesn’t care how many he murders in the process!

It’s a busy day, here in the CatBox, and I feel very tired. I overslept. The goop experiment I suggested to WWWendy Saturday was a total failure, and the resulting tumor-clog irritated the hell out of my esophagus, so the last two days have been painful. I thoroughly enjoyed my zoom meeting with my volunteer friends and some of my guys that have been released. I had a hard time recognizing them in street clothes, as I’ve never seen then in anything but prison blue and orange. My meeting with Diana was routine. The heat wave is over, and I have 10 days in the 70s and some 60s. Tonight my Broncos meditate on the Holy Ellipsoid Orb on Monday Night Football. I shall be in fervent prayer. Oh God! It’s Monday!

From The New Yorker: Questions arose after the P.A. system at a Trump rally in Nevada accidentally blasted excerpts from Bob Woodward’s interviews with the President.

As supporters streamed into the rally, the customary sounds of such classic rock songs as “Fortunate Son” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” were supplanted by audio of Trump acknowledging that the coronavirus was far deadlier than a flu.

After Trump was heard revealing the details of a previously secret weapons program, campaign aides frantically disconnected the P.A. system and started scrambling for an explanation.

LOL, Andy! Obviously this didn’t really happen, but just the thought of it happening is sufficient to provoke wet dreams! RESIST!!

From Crooks and Liars: Fresh on the heels of spreading hoax rumors about “antifa buses” coming to rural towns to create mayhem, right-wing conspiracists eager to spread the narrative about the supposed existential threat posed by black-clad antifascist activists have a hot new fraud for their armies of gullible social-media followers: The forest fires raging along the West Coast from California to Washington are an antifa plot!

The rumors—spread first by far-right activists, then parroted by followers living in areas where the fires are raging—claim that a handful of arrests for arson in unrelated fires are proof that the fires are being coordinated by leftists intending harm to befall rural Trump-supporting regions. “It’s the antifa burning EVERYTHING down!” shrieked one QAnon believer who chimed in on Twitter.

Among the leading spreaders of the false rumors is a right-wing online publication catering to police officers, Law Enforcement Today, which posted an article claiming that the “wildfires on the West Coast may be a ‘coordinated and planned’ attack.”

“Law enforcement throughout the west coast is reportedly being put on alert to look out for ‘opportunists’ and those who may have more sinister motives,” the article claimed. It then went on to list six arson incidents either related to the fires or in their general vicinity, but offered no evidence that they were coordinated in any fashion.

Of course there is no evidence that this is true and ample evidence that lightning strikes ignited the fires. The biggest danger to spreading garbage like this is that it will inspire a few QPoop wing-nuts to light fires and blame them on the left. RESIST!!
