From The New Yorker: For the third year in a row, Donald J. Trump has been named Person of the Year by the magazine Popular Sociopath, the publication announced on Thursday.

“Once a year, we at Popular Sociopath recognize the person who best epitomizes sociopathic-personality disorder, which manifests in antisocial behavior and a total absence of conscience and concern for others,” Harland Dorrinson, the magazine’s editor, said. “We are delighted to bestow this honor, once again, on Donald J. Trump.”

Dorrinson said that Trump bested a daunting roster of competitors for the title, including the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell; the Fox News host Tucker Carlson; and Trump’s own son Donald J. Trump, Jr.

Friday Fun: Have Yourself a “Rebus” Little Christmas

[UPDATE NOTE: I put an enlarged one for “A” in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there   it might help. Although enlarging tends to make it even fuzzier.  Try to imagine it as just a plain pencil drawing w/ no color. They were tough to figure out, especially back then.

UPDATE #2: I went back and found the original BW one – and it is MUCH CLEARER!  Hopefully this helps.  And why they colored the middle item in #18 green I’ll never know.]

We can thank JD for inspiring today’s theme.  A “REBUS” as defined by Merriam Webster:

As a nod to the Holiday Season, a couple of decades ago I remember enjoying a Christmas Song themed Rebus game at a party.  In fact I found that very same puzzle online – although now it’s in color, but a bit fuzzy.  (I suppose time does that to all of us.)  And a newer, but briefer version.

So I’m going to post two Christmas Song Rebuses for you to solve.  Some of them are a bit of a stretch of your imagination, and there will be overlap – but that’s OK.  You can either post your answer in Comments or keep an answer list.  But I won’t be posting the Official Answers until Saturday, in order to give everyone time to take a guess.  (Sorry – but there are NO prizes.)

Here is the one hundred seventieth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is Trump sycophant white supremacist pastor, Rick Wiles. He is so honored for the typically Republican anti-Semitism and conspiracy theories he employs against impeaching his Fuhrer. This is his second parade. He earned the first on 6/26/2018 for accusing Democrats of plotting to murder Republicans.

1212Rick-WilesRick Wiles, the far-right Christian fundamentalist pastor and radio host who founded TruNews, has a long history of bigotry — and that includes a lot of anti-Semitism to go with his anti-Islam, anti-gay and anti-feminist views. Regardless, Wiles has enjoyed media credentials in the Trump White House, but two Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives want those credentials revoked.

Wiles’ anti-Semitism was much in evidence in a video that was posted on TruNews’ YouTube channel on November 22. In the video, Wiles claimed that Jews are behind efforts to impeach President Donald Trump: Wiles described Trump as the victim of a “Jew coup” and claimed that Jews will “kill millions of Christians” after they succeed in removing the president from office.

YouTube banned TruNews’ channel from its video-sharing platform following Wiles’ anti-Semitic rant. And Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida and Rep. Elaine Luria of Virginia, in a letter sent to Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney on Monday, asserted that Wiles should be banned from all White House media events… [emphasis added]

Is the Fat in the Fire? Almost!

Nancy Pelosi and the appropriate Committee heads held a news conference this morning announcing the two Articles of Impeachment that the plan to submit to the house Thursday.  Since it’s Trump, one must ask, is the fat in the fire?  Almost!

House Democrats unveiled two narrowly drawn articles of impeachment against President Trump on Tuesday, saying he had abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress in its investigation of his conduct regarding Ukraine.

“We must be clear: No one, not even the president, is above the law,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a news conference where he was flanked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other House leaders.

At the heart of the Democrats’ case is the allegation that Trump tried to leverage a White House meeting and military aid, sought by Ukraine to combat Russian military aggression, to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to launch an investigation of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, as well as a probe of an unfounded theory that Kyiv conspired with Democrats to interfere in the 2016 presidential election…  RESIST!!

It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  I had to complete and send my week’s grocery order to Store to Door.  I had to schedule my ride to the Hospital next Tuesday with TriMet Lift.  I prepared the Fantasy Football Alert.  I made a BIG pot of chili to use against that Sdang sasquatch as revenge.  I’m kind of pooped!

These are the Brexit elections. Even if many wish they weren’t.

Whoever wins the election will ultimately determine whether the United Kingdom leaves the European Union early next year — and, if it does, they’ll likely be determining what that future relationship might look like.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Conservative Party have vowed that if they reclaim their majority in Parliament, they will “get Brexit done” by quickly passing the prime minister’s Brexit deal and moving to negotiate a free-trade agreement with the EU by the end of 2020.

Labour, the opposition party led by Jeremy Corbyn, is instead proposing to renegotiate the Brexit deal, and then put it back to the British people for a final vote on whether they want to leave the EU on those terms — or just remain in the EU after all…

From what I understand Corbyn and Labour have almost as good a chance as there is for Trump to last a day without lying. Nevertheless, I hope they win, so the UK no longer challenges the US world record for electoral idiocy. RESIST!!
