Our eleventh full month since we moved from Blogger was much better than last month. Although not back to the heady days leading up to the elections, we’re improving in all statistical categories.

Here are our basic stats:

Here is our most recent Clustrmap, last updated on December 25.

There’s some linkey-love in return  The best ways you can publicize Politics Plus is to use the share button at the bottom of each post to list our articles on the the sites where you belong, and to quote PP articles on your own blogs.  The operative commandment here is “thou shalt steal.”  We’re on the same side here, so I won’t mind.  Even if you want to repost a whole article, that’s OK.  Just link back, please.

Technorati was strange again last month.  Our global authority and rank is lower than last month, but we increased in authority and rank in all three topical areas.  How can that be?  I still have absolutely no idea.

    • Global 520 (rank 2,839)
    • US politics 597 (rank 166)
    • Politics 550 (rank 280)
    • World 466 (rank 278)

We have 169,169 links on other websites, down from 278,133 last month.

We have 1,903 posts and 14,396 comments, as of midnight 2/1.

If you are tired of our wacky avatars and would like your own avatar, go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use.  Whenever you comment under that e mail address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that will be your avatar.

Now we’re in a slower political time, because the next major election is almost two years away, so I don’t expect us to put up the same numbers we did last year.  Nevertheless, I think we have an important role to play fin ding and sharing the facts that are too honest for the mainstream media to touch and evaluating events from a left wing perspective, but with honesty and integrity.  Welcome aboard.  Without your participation, this would just be an average blog.

Here are the results to the violent comments poll.

Poll0201

And  here are your comments:

From SoINeedAName on January 26, 2011 at 3:56 pm

I believe if the Comment rises to the level of what might be considered a paraphrasing of Hate Crime legal definition, then I’d favor your deleting them:

Comments that might place another person(s) or their property in reasonable concern of harm through the use of threatening words and/or other conduct – even without displaying a weapon or subjecting the victim(s) or their property to actual physical attack.

From Cellophane on January 22, 2011 at 6:46 pm

Yo! We’re progressives! We believe in the First Amendment.

We’re also all adults here. We can take it.

From Lisa G. on January 16, 2011 at 10:05 pm

I think that you can smack them down.

I voted to allow them, as I have been.  However, if I comment ever rose to the level of a specific threat, no matter the politics of whom it threatened, I would not hesitate to contact the authorities.  It amazes me that one person actually voted to encourage violence.

As for the policy here, I shall continue to allow violent comments, unless they are directed at readers of this blog, and condemn them strongly.

Cellophane, aka Marva Dasef, is a solid progressive and fellow Oregonian.  She is also a published author.  I have personally purchased and read her work and found it enchanting.  If you have a Kindle, it’s cheap too!  You can find her at Dasef Central.

Congrats, Marva!

Here are the results of the Republican Targets poll.

Poll0116

And here are your comments.

From carol on January 8, 2011 at 2:33 am.

Control of the Supreme Court-that is more than they already have.

From oso on January 2, 2011 at 2:59 pm.

I went with SS, reason being that it’s almost sacrosanct and has almost overwhelming  support.  If the Reps even chip away at it a little it will open the gates for eventually gutting it.  Obama goes with Wall St/campaign contributors first,  his (former)base last.  So we have to speak up,write and call and begin doing it now.  I have begun what will be a deluge of mail to Boxer/Feinstein/Lee and we all gotta do our part.

From Jerry Critter on January 2, 2011 at 12:04 pm.

I’d like to say All, but I think that’s a cop-out, so I picked one.

All was the clear winner here, leading me to believe that many misunderstood the question which asked not what Republicans want to destroy, but which concerned you the most.

I was the only one who answered “Free Elections”.  My rationale is that if Republicans succeed in their plans, we will have an all electronic voting system with no paper trails and preprogrammed outcomes.

The current poll deals with rare occasions of violent speech on this blog.  Please vote,

Despite the slow month, this year has been a hell of a ride.  We began the hear as a C-list Blogger blog and ended as an A-list blog on our own site.  Because of the generosity of three of you, our PayPal account has enough money to pay this year’s hosting fees and more.  If someone had told me a year ago that all this would have happened, I would not have believed them.  Thank you very much.  Your participation inspires me to do the best I can and your comments inspire new readers to come back.  This is your blog too.  Onward to a new year of ending right wing insanity!

Here are the results of our New Years Resolutions poll.

Poll0102

And here is your comment.

From oso on December 27, 2010 at 11:15 am.

To strive to see more of the beauty in our world, and less of the ugliness.

Also to get the kid to help me clean up the house better.

Since  overcoming Republican insanity is the theme here, I bet you thought I was with the majority, but in fact I picked None.  A few years back I made the only New Years resolution I have ever kept: to make no more New Years Resolutions.  People do not change by resolution.  The way to effect change is to unpractice an undesirable behavior and to practice a desirable behavior in its place.  Over time the undesirable behavior unhabituates and over more time the desirable replacement becomes habitual.

The new poll will require yout thinking caps.
