Here are the results of our Least Favored Republican poll.

Poll0316

And here are your comments:

I wonder if the people taking this poll read it carefully, who would you LEAST LIKE to see…

Kevin got it right and I voted as he did for the same reason. Jeb is the only one that is a real threat. The rest of them are either clowns or have so much baggage (or both), that they are no real threat.

I’d love to see a Palin/Bachmann ticket! Talk about a target rich enviro…oh, sorry, no military rhetoric or violent imagery…bad habits die hard (doh!)

… as far as I’m concerned…. "None of the Above" !! None of those people impress me at all and I can’t really believe any of them entirely on anything !! All of them have their own hidden agenda and it’s been this way for at least 70 years if not last last 100 !! Now and then you have your shining star…. but all too soon they are "corrupted" by all the "perks" they find once elected or they try to really change things…. and they shoot them !!

From EarthSpirit in reply to Hermitbiker on March 12, 2011 at 5:40 pm.

I am in agreement with you "none of the above".

From SoINeedAName on March 5, 2011 at 8:39 am.

I would least like to see Gov. Chris Christie run – he makes me nervous. And he’s now on a diet … always a sign, despite his denial, that he’s considering a run.

Although I think all the limelight has inflated his already "big-as-all-outdoors" ego leading to this little flamboyant blunder:

"I have people calling me and saying to me, ‘Let me explain to you how you could win.’ And Im like, ‘Youre barking up the wrong tree. I already know I could win.’ That’s not the issue."

So far, Romney has not shown so much wingnutish behavior. Yes, he’s a wingnut, but he’s still flying under the wingnut radar.

Democrats CANNOT talk about him being a Mormon, despite the fact that they’re the most wingnutish of the wingnuts.

There’s not a name on this list that doesn’t belong in a padded room.

Jeb Bush is dangerous, though. I certainly agree with that.

From John Dasef on March 1, 2011 at 11:17 am.

I hope the Republicans do nominate one of their wing-nuts like Palin or Bachmann to run against Obama. They would be much easier to defeat. Mitt Romney gives the appearance of a more rational candidate and would put up a better fight. Jeb Bush would have his brother’s legacy to overcome, which, hopefully would limit his chances for election.

From Kevin on March 1, 2011 at 9:45 am.

I voted for Jeb Bush, because although I hate Sarah Palin, Jeb Bush is conservative AND intelligent, making him far more dangerous.

I had voted for him both times when he was governor of Florida, but as time progressed, his social conservatism appeared to play a bigger role. A Jeb Bush presidency would be a hard fight for any Democratic presidential hopeful.

Sarah ‘Blood Libel’ Palin was the clear winner, with Mitt ‘Koch sniffer’ Romney in second, followed by Jeb ‘wish I were an only child’ Bush, Michelle ‘Batshit’ Bachmann, and Ron ‘Racist Paul’.

I voted for Romney, because he could fool people into believing he’s a centrist, and I doubt that Jeb will run, because his family name is still fresh in voters’ minds.  I would LOVE Red heart to see Palin get the nomination.

Yesterday my birthday present to me arrived: Eye Candy.  It’s a set of high end graphics tools that will allow me to create better graphics here, although some of them may look clunky while I learn to use it.  I’ll post an example at the bottom.  Of course it would not install properly, but their tech support had me downloading a fixed copy of the software within minutes.  Today I’ll be out and about, so I won’t be back till much later.  If you had trouble getting on late last night, our HSP was moving Politics Plus to their new server farm.  That should mean quicker page loads for you.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:05 (average 5:09).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: For Representative Peter T. King, as he seizes the national spotlight this week with a hearing on the radicalization of American Muslims, it is the most awkward of résumé entries. Long before he became an outspoken voice in Congress about the threat from terrorism, he was a fervent supporter of a terrorist group, the Irish Republican Army.

Republicans like King have no problem with terrorism, as long as it does bot come from those professing Islam.

From Common Dreams: Two gas drilling companies have agreed to suspend specific operations at wells near Arkansas after their work was linked to nearby earthquakes.

Two gas drilling companies have agreed to suspend specific operations at wells near Arkansas after their work was linked to nearby earthquakes. Both Chesapeake Energy, based in Oklahoma, and Clarita Operating of Little Rock, informed the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission that they have halted operation of the wells near Greenbrier and Guy.

I commend the companies involved for acting responsibly.  We need to get a better understanding about the potential effects of drilling of all kinds and go slow until we do.

From Daily Kos: Earlier this morning, Congressman Michele Bachmann (R-Teahadistan) told CNN that she’s thinking about running for President in 2012 and will decide by early summer.

Run, Batshit, Run!  Run, Batshit, Run!!

There’s some linkey-love in return  The best ways you can publicize Politics Plus is to use the share button at the bottom of each post to list our articles on the the sites where you belong, and to quote PP articles on your own blogs.  The operative commandment here is “thou shalt steal.”  We’re on the same side here, so I won’t mind.  Even if you want to repost a whole article, that’s OK.  Just link back, please.

Technorati was strange again last month.  In spite of great statistical improvement our authority is down in every category except World, and we’re about to fall off the A list.  I still have absolutely no idea why.

    • Global 500 (rank 3,422)
    • US politics 551 (rank 226)
    • Politics 499 (rank 404)
    • World 474 (rank 263)

We have 385,203 links on other websites, up from 169,169 last month.

We have 2,010 posts and 15,252 comments, as of midnight 3/1.

If you are tired of our wacky avatars and would like your own avatar, go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use.  Whenever you comment under that e mail address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that will be your avatar.

Now we’re in a slower political time, because the next major election is almost two years away, so I don’t expect us to put up the same numbers we did last year.  Nevertheless, I think we have an important role to play finding and sharing the facts that are too honest for the mainstream media to touch. I  evaluate events from a left wing perspective, but with honesty and integrity.  Please keep joining in.  Without your participation, this would just be an average blog.

Here are the results of the Obama’s Budget Poll.

Poll0301

And here are your comments:

From Frank Mere on February 26, 2011 at 8:40 pm

It doesn’t address climate change. If that is not tackled aggressively and soon, everything else is irrelevant – we will become extinct like most other complex life on the planet.

From Jnagain on February 19, 2011 at 4:42 pm

It doesn’t address the defense overspending and doesn’t tax the rich.

From TomCat on February 18, 2011 at 10:12 am

My "Other" was that it does not raise the income cap to balance Social Security, tax hedge funds as income, or close enough of the loopholes the rich use to avoid taxes.

Most thought that the budget cuts too little.  Cuts all wrong or some right and some wrong was a dead heat.  Almost all consider it too conservative.

The new poll asls your LEAST favorite Republican presidential hopeful.

15000-Ahab

Congrats to Ahab for posting the 15,000th comment here at Politics Plus.  His comments are always insightful.  In addition, Ahab is one of the most courageous bloggers I know.  He frequently visits extreme right conventions, such as CPAC and reports first hand about their doings there, with no thought for his personal safety.  Rumor has it he braves them without a barf bag.  Talk about a high wire act without a net!!  You can find him at the Republic of Gilead.

At some point in time, we must all realize that the US is no longer the 600 lb. gorilla in the rooom. What we want or don’t want to happen in Egypt is irrelevant. Best thing we can do is shut up, let it play out however it’s going to play out, . and above all DON’T MEDDLE!

From Lisa G. on February 5, 2011 at 9:14 am.

It’s their gig, let them do it. Besides, we’d only #### it up.

From Sandy on February 4, 2011 at 12:07 pm.

Our Country is in 2 wars already, we must support verbally but no more people should die or Treasury spent. It’s their war, not ours. I wish Egypt well. Peace

Verbal support for the protesters was the winning answer with 55.4% of the vote, and stay completely neutral came in second with 37.8%.

I voted for verbal support, because the demonstrators deserve it, but more would likely bring a radical response.  This answer is closest to what Obama actually did, leaning towards neutrality.  So far it seems to have worked.

The new poll is on Obama’s budget.
