Here are the results of our Hillary Left or Right poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are often accurate.

And here are your comments.

On social issues I would think about the same. On financial issues to the right. On war issues to the right despite but Obama is quickly catching up. Keystone way to the right. Overall right.

It was a toss-up for me but the more I thought about it I had to say she leans a little more to the Left of our President right now. Tomorrow?

Who knows.

I used to think about the same or maybe left, but then I heard American Petroleum Institute ads about how she and Bill support KXL….we'd already have it if she was president

They are both diehard liberals with Obama being the more successful of the two. Socialism is a reality with our esteemed President!

YIKES! After voting, the score stands: 6-6-6-1.

You don't see that very often.

I voted "Left of Obama" – which I NEVER would have dreamed of doing 4+ years ago.

But my vote is based on her "Heart-of-Hearts" – and NOT necessarily where she'll actually position herself.

While I'm still a HUGE fan of Pres. Obama, I think he's been too cerebral – and not enough of a brawler. I'd appreciate a LOT more "In-Your-Face" in his second term to redeem himself.

Posted by Yvonne White  August 18, 2013 at 5:00 pm.

I have always said Hillary & Obama are interchangeable – I like Hillary, but she's no Liberal. I also knew America would elect a black man before it would a white woman – racism is bad, sexism is alive & well.

It amazed me that there is so much diversity of opinion on this subject, when Hillary is considerably right of Obama in several areas, and to the left of him in none.  I would argue that she pulled Obama to the right, because as part of the deal, in which she became Secretary of State, she negotiated jobs for many of her advisors, including two of the Three Blind Mice, Geithner and Summers.

Vote in our new poll quickly, as it could become moot in short order.

In June Politics Plus started picking up again, as I returned to more active blogging after my illness.  In July, we continued the upward trend, despite the lack of a viral article, and I am quite pleased.

Here is our latest summary:

Stats7-2013

In the monthly totals, a Site is any website from which someone accessed our server, a Hit is every access attempt to our server, and a File is every access attempt to our server that returned data.  The difference between Hits and Files is from access attempts that were sent in error or damaged in transit and failed attempts by hackers, spammers, phishers, and Republicans to access the back end and take control of the site.  Any questions?

Here is our latest Clustrmap:

We have 1,365,825 links on other websites, a slight increase.

Our Technorati rating is way down again at 119, very low on the B List, and they rate us as the 9049th most influential blog in the world.  I told you that last months high ratings would not last.  None of our 1 million plus links are on websites that have registered with Technorati.  If Care2 registered their front page with Technorati, we would be on the A list again.

I suspect that some Republicans, those not running in highly sequestered districts, are going try to appear more reasonable, before the 2014 elections.  They know that a large segment of the voting public recognize that Republicans are sabotaging America, see the handwriting on the wall, and fear for their political futures.  Our work will be to educate as many people as we can, so they cannot get away with their deception, like they did in 2010.  Thank you for everything you do.  Our success is your success, and thank you for it.

The defense put Trayvon on trial from the beginning and the prosecution never countered or presented Trayvon as a typical 17 yr old black kid nor alternative scenarios of the shooting that the jury could consider as Manslaughter.

Posted by Patty  July 20, 2013 at 5:36 am.

It was a bit of everything. I knew it wouldn’t happen but I wished with all my heart that Zimmerman would have taken the stand. The jurors would have seen his hatred on display then.

Posted by Barbara K in reply to Patty  July 21, 2013 at 2:08 pm.

Am I the only one who noticed how they wouldn’t let Zimmerman speak so the the jury could not hear his higher pitched voice?

Posted by Patty in reply to Barbara K  July 22, 2013 at 4:10 am.

Barbara K, I had heard that mentioned on some news show at one time during speculation of the trial. I think it was before they even picked the jurors. One of their "expert lawyers" said something to the effect that they shouldn’t let him testify because of his high pitched voice. I thought that was the last of their worries.

AG Eric Holder said it best. The stand your ground law was for a problem that did not exist…

Instructions to the jury were heavily slanted in Zimmerman’s favor.

Posted by Fred Lemon  July 17, 2013 at 6:05 am.

I also think it was a bit of all the things mentioned except nothing. I just ask what made it Zimmerman’s ground to stand on rather than Martin’s?

clip_image003

Posted by Angelica in reply to Fred Lemon

That was my question, too. Why did the prosecution ignore that? They should have raised hell and they didn’t.

Posted by Archie  July 16, 2013 at 9:09 pm.

So when Mr Zimmerman moseys on down the street with shopping bag,is followed in the dark by someone who hollers"Hey you stop there!" You are of middle Eastern appearance, you are a terrorist! I,ll have to shoot you! Would the good folks of this jury say right ON!?

a little bit of each?!

Posted by SoINeedAName in reply to dave c  July 16, 2013 at 3:04 pm.

Most definitely, a little bit of each.

Posted by Angelica  July 16, 2013 at 6:33 am.

I heard juror @37B on TV last night. The woman has an IQ about 4 points higher than a head of iceberg lettuce. She "liked what was in Zimmerman’s heart." I almost fell out of my chair. It was clear that she never saw the victim as human. I say she’s beyond ignorant because she thought the most compelling testimony OF THE WHOLE TRIAL was the doctor who talked about death screams in Nam.

You’ve hit the nail on the head, Angelica! 37B was 1 of 6 making the decision & she was also part of the group who changed the minds of 2 or more of the 6 who were leaning towards ‘guilty’ — an ignorant bully. Is that really representative of a jury of Trayvon’s peers?

clip_image004[1]

Was there any intelligence in that room?

After listening to her make outrageous claims that she "knew what was in Z’s heart," I can only conclude that she was part of the same dumber than dirt group that supports "Stand Your Ground" and all the racial inequality that goes with it.

Posted by Lynn Squance  July 16, 2013 at 1:11 am.

I think it was no one thing. A jury made up of 5 white women and one Hispanic woman in my view is not racially balanced. For that matter, where is the token male? As I understand, the judged ruled that there could be no mention of race, yet in some of Zimmerman’s comments prior to the trial, racial profiling was done.

I hope the DOJ carries forth with an investigation and hate crime charges.

Posted by Angelica in reply to Lynn Squance  July 20, 2013 at 1:31 pm.

Clearly, there was racial profiling. Those 40-something phone calls of his to the police prove it.

I voted for all of the top four choices.  There was clearly bigotry on the jury.  37B proved that beyond a reasonable doubt.  The prosecution was weak.  They missed many opportunities to demonstrate premeditated malice.  The defense was skillful.  All those Republican donations bought great lawyers.  The only choice I made, about which I have doubts is that the judge was biased.  I thought that he should have instructed the jury that Martin had more right to stand his ground than Zimmerman, as he was the one being pursued.  I figured the judge thought that stand your ground only applies to the white in a mixed race confrontation.  On the other hand, since the Republicans are the Party of Death, it may be that stand your ground only applies to the armed survivor.  I should have included another choice for Florida Law.

Fantasy Football Tips

LeftyBlogFriends

By now I hope you know from my nagging ads that Politics Plus has a fantasy football league at NFL.com, Lefty Blog Friends.  The online live draft is this coming Sunday at 11 AM Pacific, 12 N Mountain, 1 PM Central and 2 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time.  I promised a bit of help for newbies, so here it is.

Your first experience will be the draft.  Read the help files at the league, but the best thing you can do, especially if you have never participated in an online draft before is go to the league and join a mock draft or three.  They have one every few minutes and it’s just like a real draft, except that it does not count.  Then you can come to the real one knowing exactly how it’s done.

The common wisdom is to draft running back first then wide receivers, then quarterbacks, and then tight ends, kickers and defenses.  Personally, I try to draft the best player available in the first three groups until I have one quarterback. three running backs, and three wide receivers.  Then I go for a backup quarterback, a fourth running back, two tight ends, two kickers and two Defenses.

During the draft pay particular attention to players’ bye weeks.  Every NFL team has a week off during the season, and you want to make sure you always have enough players to complete your lineup.  Having more than one player at any position with the same bye week can make that quite difficult.

During the season, keep the NFL schedule in mind.  At times they play Thursday and Saturday games in addition to Sunday, Sunday night and Monday.  Make sure your lineup for the week is set before the first game, because it’s very embarrassing to learn that your injured player’s team already played, and you got no points for that position.

As to the league itself, this morning I removed a player that has not set his lineup in almost two years.  I opened the league to the public, hoping to fill the last two slots.  If they have not filled by Saturday morning, I will change the league size and we will play with eight teams.

So this is your last chance to join!  It is a load of fun, and a needed break from battling the brain-dead minions of InsaniTEA.  Join NFL.com and email me using the address you used to join.  There’s a Contact Me link on the left. Or send me message at Care2 that includes the email address you used to join.  Or reply to this thread on this site using the email address you used to join.  Unless the last two spots have been filled, I will email your invitation from within the league.

Good luck to everyone!  That’s about it, except…

I’m so bad, you all might as well give up now! Winking smile

I voted ‘nothing at all’, but at best it would be a ‘worthless bill’ with the sole purpose to deceive people into thinking they care! It would be all about the rebranding to gain votes. The Republic

We won’t see anything worthwhile out of the House until the Democrats are in control again.

I don’t think they will pass anything. Boehner will drop the ball as usual.

Posted by Patty  July 1, 2013 at 10:08 am.

I think they will gut anything of importance from the bill and add some meaningless gobbledygook. Then and only then will they pass it.

Posted by Jim Phillips  July 1, 2013 at 5:56 am.

I believe the g o p pukes will add words, riders, make the bill harder, longer, restrictions, for the immigrants to gain citizenship. The g o p don’t want the "browns" to vote against them in this current climate.

Posted by Fred Lemon  July 1, 2013 at 3:40 am.

To make themselves look good and be able to say they did something rather than nothing they will pass a "toilet paper" bill that is only good for the use this product is intended.

I voted with the majority.  I think they will pass a worthless bill to deform immigration, not reform it.  Needless to say Democrats will oppose it.  Then Republicans can claim to those too stupid to be paying attention that they voted for immigration reform and Democrats voted against it.

All of the above. the republicans dislikes everyone, they are doing their best to get the Hispanic vote by trying to get a decent immigration bill; but they aren’t doing a good job with the women voters (except the idiot submissive fools who can’t think for themselves); hell they forgot about the Asian voters…can go on and on

Definitely women. We make up more than half the population and are included in the other groups as well.

I know Sanity isn’t the one that is most obvious, because you’d have to also be insane to have voted for the lot that is elected. As they say, birds of a feather flock together so they most likely don’t see how insane their representatives are. But this whole thing has become insane. I feel like I’ve moved and gone into the Twilight Zone. Damn, is there a quicker way out of here?

I clicked ‘voting’ because voting is universal and has elements of all the other named groups. But it was a toss up between ‘women’ who make up 51% of the US population and ‘voting’.

Now, if by ‘sanity’ you are referring to insaniTea, that is in all the Republican/Teabagger wars. And of course there is the war on Mr Obama, war on the poor, and their incessant war on affordable healthcare. The Republican/Teabaggers are just a bunch of warmongering fools!

Women are in every one of the other groups, so make up a plurality no matter what.

I would not discount the Seniors, however. AARP is pretty activist.

I voted for Republican War on Voting, knowing it would not be the most popular, and I’m pleasantly surprised to see it come in second.  As I see it, more people should be alienated by Republicans trying to disenfranchise legal voters, because if the can control who can vote and who can’t, The USA will be no more.

A new poll is up.  Don’t forget to vote!
