Yesterday, I finished loading meds to shift my replacement times to the opposite weekends and free up this one. Since I can’t seem to get my car radio working and don’t have time to get it repaired or replaced, I started hunting up my mp3 players to find one that works. The first one i found, though it said it was working (with a new battery,) I couldn’t get any sound out of, either with earphones nor with the portable speaker, which I would prefer to use. The second one has its battery built in but it was competely discharged, so I started charging it up, and, when partiallly charged, it started to play. I tried it with the speaker and the speaker works with it. However, I did not figure out how to add additional music to it, nor how to turn it off. So I started looking for an owner’s manual on line. I also completed my draft of the Furies (if any day of the blog suffers from this visit, it won’t be Sunday, it’ll be Monday.)

Short Takes –

The Hill – Suspect taken into custody after claiming to have bomb near Capitol
Quote – Manger said police were able to see a propane gas container on the truck. But he said officials have not yet been able to search his vehicle, adding they still need to “render it safe.” “It will take hours to assess the scene,” he said.

HuffPost – Top General: No Intel That Afghan Government Would Fall In 11 Days
Quote – “There was nothing that I or anyone else saw that indicated a collapse of this army and this government in 11 days,” said Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He said the U.S. anticipated “multiple scenarios.”
Click through for more. High tech intelligence is wonderful, but one can become too dependent o it. There’s a line from “Dr. Atomic”: “With respect, sir, anyone could have founf Los Alamos just by following the trail of beer cans from Santa Fe.” Beer cans (and the like) sould never be discounted.

Mother Jones – “Bar Rescue” Host and Laura Ingraham Discuss Cutting Unemployment Aid to Make Workers “Hungry” Like an “Obedient Dog”
Quote – I have a friend in the military who trains military dogs, Laura. And they only feed a military dog at night. Because a hungry dog is an obedient dog. Well, if we’re not causing people to be hungry to work then we’re providing them with all the meals they need sitting at home. I’m completely with you Laura. These benefits make absolutely no sense to us.

  1. Hope you get your audio entertainment for your trip sorted out.

Suspect taken into custody after claiming to have bomb near Capitol

No surprise that this Trumpkin fellow Trumpkins went w/ their standard scream of “FALSE FLAG!”.  They NEVER take responsibility.

But it won’t surprise me one bit if some day in the not too distant future they’ll have their Timothy McVeigh moment again.

Top General: No Intel That Afghan Government Would Fall In 11 Days

Seems like it was widely anticipated that Afghanistan would fail – just not as quickly as it did.

We are SO SCREWED if this is the level of lying hate and inhumanity Fox is fine dishing out – and its viewers love slurping up!

BTW – this is NOT the look of a sane person.  (Unless he only paid for the Groucho Marx eyebrows, but not the glasses and nose.)

And it was perfectly fine for old Jon Taffer when HE was sucking at the government teat:

  2. TH: Yes, boring is good sometimes. Glad this nutter did not injure anyone. Good job to Capitol Police and all who dealt w/this.—  Don’t think I’ve had enough coffee (or something) to deal w/ Laura I.yet today. Wonder how hungry she’s ever been? LOL! —–FFT: So true. Ohio militia/3%er near me (also has F*** Biden flag(s?)) seems to have extreme fear of razors, being tread on and that his young kids will date those of another political party! Also, the “lady” of the house flipped me off for my Biden sign as she sped past me. ——Most importantly, have a safe and good visit,JD. It sounds like it is a fairly long drive?   Thanks also for letting us know WWWendy & Mitch are OK. Take care, everyone.

    • It’s about 120 miles and works out at a little over 2 hours.  But after I started visiting there (even before its sterling record on CoViD) I realized I’d rather have him there where the place is well run than in a closer prison where it isn’t.  I won’t bore you with anecdotes (for one thing I have too many), but believe me, there is a difference btween prisons, even if they are technically under the same rules.

  3. I’m baaaack….I came back to check the page, and my first comment got lost. LOL
    Cartoon: Yep. (ugh!)
TH: Glad that no one was harmed, thankfully the Capitol police were there.
HP: Being in Afghanistan 20 years is a long time. Reminds me of Vietnam, 18 years there. Sad.
MJ: She’s got the gall to say this on tv. Sick.
    FFT: Good grief!

Glad that you got your MP3 player working. Hope that your upcoming visit goes well. Have a good day, and Thank you, Joanne for post.

TJI: “Our hospitals are full of remorse’: Texas doctor says many COVID patients regret skipping vaccine.”
    ~ A Texas Doctor ~
    2. “Gov. Abbott asked the Supreme Court of Texas to support his ban of mask mandates — they declined. As a result, the lower court ruling allowing ISDs to require masks on campuses stands.” ~ Laura Garcia ~
    3. “Today, @POTUS met with the Chairs of the House Committees that will write the reconciliation bill. All agreed that we have an historic opportunity for transformational change #ForThePeople. The President expressed his appreciation for the Committees’ work to Build Back Better.” ~ Speaker Nancy Pelosi ~
    4. “It’s up to all of us to stop the Republican takeover of our state. Vote ‘NO’ on the recall by September 14.
    ~ Adam Schiff ~
    5. “We’re going to do everything that we can to provide safe evacuation for our Afghan allies and partners”,  adding “I can assure you I will mobilize every resource necessary”.   ~ President Joe Biden gives update on the operation in Afghanistan ~

    • TJI #1 – As well they should. It’s the ones who don’t regret that, and who continue to claim CoViD is a hoax even as they die from it, that worry me.
TJI #2 – Glad you have some one with some sense on your court.
TJI #3 – That’s how government is supposed to work.
TJI #4 – Praying for California, the state I was born in. They don’t need this crisis.
TJI #5 – It appears, according to Beau (it will be in tomorrow’s thread; today’s, despite its unlikely title, is on vaccination), that there are as many as 10,000 Americans in Afghanistan who don’t need to be there, and who could have left/started leaving months ago, had they attended the State Department’s travel warnings, but didn’t. Of course I don’t know the circumstances (and I assume every one is different), but on that alone, it sounds a lot like anti-vaxxers to me.

    • TJI #4 – From what I’ve read, I’m concerned that though outnumbered, Rethuglicans are fired up to get out and vote in the Recall election.

TJI #5 – No easy answers, but I hope he can remove all who want AND deserve to be evacuated.

    • TJI#1: Really a sad situation with the hospital beds being totally full. One of the medical centers here in San Diego are already cancelling medical procedure again, due to increase Covid-19 cases and also medical staff shortages. As for the ones who regret not getting the vaccine, that’s really a shame, since they had the same opportunity as we and others did to get it in the first place.
TJI#2: Bravo to this judge for denying his request.
TJI#3: Nice seeing our President and the House Committee working together.
TJI#4: I know I will definitely be saying “NO” to recalling my Governor. I don’t want to see any of these others even getting a chance at his seat.
TJI#5: They were just saying on the news, that the flights have just started again to get people out of Afghanistan. I pray for their safety.

  4. The Hill: Was happy to hear that this tRump loving terrorist finally surrendered without anyone being harmed.
HP: I feel we were all stunned at how quickly the Afghan Government had fallen. We’ve been over there 20 years training them. I thought that they would of stood strong.
MJ: Shameful heartless idiots. How can they be so cruel to the people?
    Food for Thought: Crazy fool.
Glad you found an MP3 to use. Hopefully you found the manual for it and can add more music to it. Do you have the USB car charger attachment that plugs into the lighter? I carry one in my purse just to have if I need it.
Hope the rest of your day went well.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  5. Food For Thought: Other things he fears include reason, logic, truth and facts.

  6. You had one of those days, eh, where one half-solution to a problem leads to the next problem to be solved. At the end of the day, you may have your solution somewhere close to what you want but it is also the end of the day. Good luck with everything else you need to do before you’re off to see Virgil. Give him my regards, BTW.

TH: Mr Roseberry had some issues going on from which it probably is safe to conclude his mental health wasn’t that stable. Hat tip to the Capitol Police who kept their cool and that of Mr Roseberry too.

HP: It once again goes to show that neither the American forces nor their allies had a clue to how the psyche of the Afgan men they trained for the army or those of the Taliban work.

MJ: I think this warrants one of my WTF gifs:

No apologies made by Ingraham or Taffer can undo this 💩

FFT: The list of what he doesn’t fear is much shorter.
