It’s another crappy day here in the CatBox.  I Republicated, but only once, not three times.  I’m very tired, but WWWendy is coming to give me a shower this morning.  I feel much too much pain and need an increase in my pain meds.  Pray that my Providence Hospice Nurse comes to do that.  Happy Hump Day to us all!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:33 (average 5:22).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. HI, Wendy! Hope you are doing well.
I feel bad for you, Tom. I sure hope that your pain goes away, or at least alleviated…to get you through the morning, and rest of the day. Prayers! up for you! Take good, good care, and Thanks! for all you do, Tom!!!
*Today…It’s a little different for the TJI’s, as you can read. Today is Cinco de Mayo Day! Here in Texas (and elsewhere) the 5th of May is celebrated. Hope that y’all have a good day.

**Today is Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Wednesday, May 5 in 2021, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. ~ History.com ~
    1. Cinco de Mayo is here! Let’s give ’em something to taco bout!
    2. Hope you have a Mexcellent Cinco de Mayo!
    3. Cinco de Mayo is boring… said no Juan ever.
    4. Let’s taco bout how we’re going to shell-ebrate Cinco de Mayo.

  2. Hoping that you get to feel better today.
‘Toon: “Fair and Balanced” propaganda is the best kind, don’t know?  “It’s fair for us to knock THEM off balance!”
    I always liked Paxton.

  3. How much of the U.S.’s celebration was spawned sole for the purpose of commercializing it?  You know, like Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day were created by Hallmark.

    • Not much, I think.  Same like Juneteenth.  Hallmark would have been afraid to touch either – but if they did, they would at best have turned Cinco de Mayo into something Latinx.   You have a lot of Spanish speakers there in Florida, but because they mostly are not from Mexico, I’ll be you don’t see much Cinco de Mayo celebration there.

  4. Hoping pain meds are adjusted and you get better pain control, better quality…..

  5. We had a little snow yesterday. Of course, we have a history of getting a little snow (and slet and groppel) right up to the end of May. I don’t remember ever getting any in June, July, August, or even September, though we do get hail then. We call our four seasons Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Construction. I am beyond ready for Construction to start. TC, I do hope and pray you can get your pain neds adjusted – and quickly. Pain hurts.

Even in an administration where we are getting regular good news, this stands out:
Biden admin taps Rich Cordray, former CFPB chief, to oversee federal student loans

I suppose if you are a serious federal judge, you have to say “disingenuous” when you actually mean “a goddamned liar.” Glenn Kirschner has more detail in the vids.

Cartoon – Yup – “Pravda” – just like Faux is “fair and balanced.”

Blast – Coordinates with the cartoon nicely.

    • You know you were quoting Daffy Duck there, Joanne?

Daffy Duck : Poor Bugs. But any way you look at it, it’s better he should suffer. After all, it was me or him, and, obviously, it couldn’t be me. It’s a simple matter of logic. I’m not like other people. I can’t stand pain. It hurts me.

      Republican logic?

      Loved the Josh Duggar meme.
They probably didn’t take a picture of Duggar sharing the collection on his phone with Gaetz.

      • I was actually quoting C. S. Lewis from The Problem of Pain (1940).  But since Looney Toons (later Looney Tunes) ran from 1930-1969, either could have been quoting the other.

  6. TC, hope your day improves/d and “Hi,Wendy!”  The cat goddesses are puurrrrring for you as well. JD, thx 4 reminding that OH produces folks like Cordray in addition to the Confederate flag flyer I had to see today while picking up groceries. In more good news—-fascist orange clown puppet continues to be banned fr. FB!   LOL! Stay safe.

  7. Cartoon: Never heard of it. Reading what Mitch and Joanne wrote, glad I didn’t.
BFTP: New to me. Like it.
Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Sure hope your Providence Hospice Nurse can help increase your medication.
Hope your visit with Wendy went well, that you didn’t hurt too much as you showered.
Pray that you get to feeling better TC.
    Have a pleasant evening.
    Do take care.

  8. I’m sorry to hear that your day has been crappy in more than one way, TomCat. Asking for more medication to control your pain is the best thing to do and I’m sure they will accommodate you; that is what hospice carers are for. More pain killer will make you more drowsy too and you’ll probably sleep more. Please do what is good for you, dear friend, we’re with you in thought.

Cartoon: It all started out so innocently with “Truth”. During its earliest days, Pravda had no political orientation. It started its journey as a journal of arts, literature and social life. Of course, things went wrong when the Communist party got its hands on it and now it a propaganda outlet of the Russian government. Exactly what the Republicans have in Faux News and everything else owned by Rupert and his friends.

BFTP: As Joanne said, it goes well with the cartoon. What I could understand of it, I liked, but the audience didn’t seem much impressed.

  9. Can’t imagine they would not increase your pain meds.

Please let us know what they did.

  10. Thanks all 35.

    Too sick!
