The Damage Report – Long-ish (under 6 minutes) but an important topic – and Ro Khanna.

Extremist military and veterans. I do apologize for no CC.

This is only a partial transcript.
Whoever coined the phrase “Once a Marine, always a Marine” did not have this in mind: A Marine Corps veteran using the Marine Corps flag to attack a Capitol police officer. Thomas Webster is one of more than 30 who have served in the military now charged with crimes at the Capitol.
“It doesn’t take an army to do what happened; it takes people with some skill set to lead those others,” said former FBI Agent Tom O’Connor, who spent two decades investigating extremists.
“Extremist elements in the United States have long tried to recruit former military and former law enforcement into their ranks for their skill set.”
And for the mindset of a culture trained to resort to violence when all else fails.
Army veteran Stewart Rhodes founded a group called Oath Keepers in 2009. “All you veterans out there, you’ve got to stand up,” he said in a video on the conspiracy theory-spreading website InfoWars. “Lead your local community in watching over their own backyards, over their own neighborhoods, and over their own towns.”

Now This News – The kids are all right.

Robert Reich on Guaranteed Income. (You know, the “work ethic” is really overrated. I have felt for decades that people who have wealth but choose to work just take jobs away from more needy – and often more competent – people.)

Trae on royalty. For a different take on the interview, check out this.  Though neither seems to be aware that royals, particularly those in the direct line, do work, and do pay taxes.

The quote to be carved in stone on the exterior of the Obama Presidential Library has been chosen.

Is someone in the Biden administration watching Beau’s videos?

  1. Thanks, Joanne. I’ve watched most of them but haven’t got time to comment.

Trae: I know British royalty in the direct line pay taxes over certain parts of their income but definitely not over everything and most royalty in Europe doesn’t. The Dutch king and his family certainly don’t, which has been a bone of contention for years.

  2. DR: And the evaders are just the people to claim some special sense of honoring the country that the would, most probably, claim to have built, themselves.
Extremism in any form would appear to be anathema to the sense of Democracy.  the “Oath Keepers” took their oath to support the constitution, not to wage war on the country.  Extremism seems to be too easily manipulated for onerous purposes.
NT: Wonderful!  The xenophobia that has long been a part of this society was encouraged by the former dumb-as-shit president, and will remain empowered long after he has left the scene, I’m afraid.
RR: Not a surprise, here, but the GOPIGGIES will pick such anode to pieces, because their agenda is having the “Freedom” that Cruz screamed about at CPAC, the “freedom” to “…exploit people into economic ruin; the freedom to assassinate unions; the freedom to prey on unprotected consumers, workers, and environments ; the freedom to value quarterly profits over climate change; the freedom to undermine small businesses and cushion corporations; the freedom from competition; the freedom not to pay taxes; the freedom to heave the tax burden onto the middle and lower classes; the freedom to co modify everything and everyone; the freedom to keep poor people poor and middle-income people struggling to stay middle-income, and make rich people richer.” From “How To Be An antiracist.”
Trae: The monarchy appears to be focused on keeping itself unsullied by “others,” at any cost to those others with the effrontery to think that they might fit in, anywhere.  I’m guessing that the thought that the progeny of such “Others” might be in line for a king, or queenship, is horribly disturbing to the royal mind.
The Obama Presidential Center Museum: Good on them!
Beau: Great Tee-shirt, again, and it relates to the extremism issue, as above.  “Common sense solution?”  Not if one’s agenda is to keep those “rapists” and etc. OUT!  Why did this not come up before?  Because, perhaps, the recent prior admin’s were Republican, and even Clinton’s was biased toward kissing up to the conservatives.  “It” is a crisis to the GOP, and the white, male establishment feeling as if they are about to loose power to those “others,” which would no the a bad happening.   The Trans-continental railroad was part of Lincoln’s strategy to get the California gold for the Union, so it could not be used to support the confederacy.  It was not a “Oh. let’s do that, too.”  “The line of people”is a crisis for those who fear the eventual loss of power to the immigrants, who tend to vote Democratic, once they are citizens.  “Little bit of racism?”  “Little bit?”

  3. Thanks JD! 35

TDR – I sure that bill passes and is STRICTLY enforced!

WMV – Any Veteran who behaves in this manner should be stripped of their status and benefits!

NTN – Ditto what JD said!

RR –  Of course the Reich in the left, Robert Reich, is as right as the Reich on the right, the Republican Reich, is greedy!

Trey – Dang! But we voted King Asshole** out!

    OF – Wonderful!

Beau – It would seem so!
