It’s a painful and exhausted day, here in the CatBox.  The intake meeting with Providence Home Hospice was excellent, but it was long.  I was sitting up and putting pressure on my spine from around 10:30 AM when Wendy arrived until about 5:30 PM when the intake nurse left.  My meds will be delivered today.  They are putting me on 5 mg methadone pills every eight hours plus up to 10 – 15 mg Oxycodone every 3 – 6 hours as needed for pain.  No more patches.  They will give me a shower a week and I’ll get 1 – 2 from WWWendy.  I’ll receive a pants load of other services.  I really like the way they are handling it, but recovering from that appointment will take a few days.  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:36 (average 4:51).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Donald J. Trump will use his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend to announce that he has won the 2024 Presidential election.

According to leaked text from his cpac speech, Trump will claim that he won the 2024 election in a landslide and “everybody knows it.”

Trump will further state that any attempt to allege that the year 2024 has not arrived yet and is, in fact, not scheduled to occur until three years from now is “a rigged hoax.”

Dang, Andy! We all knew Trump** would say that. Furthermore, we knew that every damn one of those idiotic CPUKE Sheeple would believe it.  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

From Alternet: Though House Democrats in the end had the votes to assure final passage of a sweeping Covid-19 relief package overnight—securing approval with a final 219-212 tally—it was the Republican Party membership in total lockstep, joined by two lonely members of the majority party, that voted to deny struggling American families, frontline workers, state governments, local communities, small businesses, and the nation’s schools and public health system nearly $2 trillion in urgent assistance to stabilize the economy, beat back the pandemic, and ensure solid footing for a robust recovery.

The two Democrats who sided with the GOP were Rep. Jared Golden, who represents Maine’s 2nd District, and Rep. Kurt Shrader, who represents Oregon’s 5th District.

That one of these is an Oregon Congressional makes me want to scream. In 2020, I donated money to Shrader’s campaign in the general. He was running against Amy Ryan Courser, the epitome of everything about the Republican Reich that makes it evil. Amy is a Koch sucker. So I would support him again in the same circumstances, but before it comes to that, we need to primary his DINO ass out of there!  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Simon & Garfunkel – El Condor Pasa (If I Could) (Audio)

Ah… the memories!  RESIST the Republican Reich!!

Don’t Let Republicans Steal YOUR Future!!

  1. Sorry the intake took so long, but perhaps it did so because they were being very diligent and thorough.
‘Toon: No, they were not.  Between the Koch Boys, Boehner, and McTurtle, they have gone rogue!
New Yorker: Anything other than what he says is either a hoax, or fake news, or BOTH!  And they will bow to the golden shit-head!
Alternet: Sorry for th eOregonian disappointment.  Now, it’s on to the senate…oh my gosh!
BFP: That kid from Rego park, Queens, really knows how to write a song!

  2. Cartoon: Back in the day, we had hope for them. Not anymore! ugh!
NYer: LOL, glad to see that Andy is using ‘his words’ (dt) in his post. I’m sure that the knees of those R’s are dirty in ‘bending the knee’ for the gold figure. How demented can one get?
AN: What a disappointment and bummer!!
    BFTP: Love this song!!!

Glad that your meeting went well, and that you are getting your needs met. Get your rest, and a nap. Enjoy your day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom. Enjoy your Sunday too!

*This just in: “The Navy will retake their Oath to the US Constitution as part of the Pentagon’s efforts to address extremism, within it’s ranks. The Navy is the 1st military brand to publicly announce it’s plan to comply with the requirement. ~ Baily Aldridge ~
    2. “Wow! Rep. Al Greene (D-TX) gave an amazing response to GOP Rep Greg Steube who said, “God opposes transgender rights.”  Rep. Al Greene – ” You used God to segregate me in schools. You used God to put me in the back of the bus. Have you no shame?”
    3. “The filibuster was never in the Constitution, originated mostly by accident and has historically been used to block civil rights. No legislatures on earth have a super majority requirement because that’s stupid and paralyzing. It’s time to trash the Jim Crow filibusters. ~ Senator Brian Schatz ~
    4. “DeJoy is still in de job, while de mail is still delayed. Derail and detain him in de jail.” ~ Lindy L. ~

    • TJI#1: A fine example!
TJI#2: No, they have no shame, but I LOVE Greene’s comment!
      TJI#3: Right on!
TJI#4: De Joy of detaining him in de jail would be deloverly!

    • TJI #! – I have never said this before, but in the current climate, when so many veterans are saying that they remember taking their oath as if it were yesterday, I have to admit that I don’t remember taking it. What I do remember was that there was nothing in it that I did not already passionately believe in – so I wouldn’t need to remember the experience or the exact words, but just follow my conscience.
TJI #2 – Many people have observed (Susan B. Anthony was one) that when people make claims of God’s opinions, somehow it always coincides with what they want. Any more, I just call it “trying to tell God what to do.”
TJI #3 – Really, the only reason for keeping any shred of the filibuster is that there is still gerrymandering.
TJI #4 – I have two packages coming this coming week, and have been tracking both. The one that was sent by FedEx SmartPost” took two days to get from New Jersey to Wisconsin, and two more to go from Wisconsin to Michigan. At this rate it will get here next Friday or the following Monday. The one from Oregon was sent directly through USPS (and incidentally was ordered a day or two later than the first one.) It is expected tomorrow. Note that the one which is taking so long is still in the hands of FedEx. It isn’t turned over to USPS until it at least gets into my state, and maybe not until it gets to my city. No, FedEx and UPS cannot do it better.

  3. Tiring and painful, but promising. And there will now be more people who love you. Not to sound like a broken record, but do get all the rest you can. And love to WWWendy. Alwats.

I have fallen a couple of times in the last few days, but both times I was up again in no longer than it took to catch my breath – maybe two minutes. And with no noticeable addition to any chronic aches/pains.  I couldn’t have done that a few years ago … so in terms of general self care, I must be doing something right.

Here’s a link provided by “SheltieLover” at DU to fond a vaccination provider should you need one.

Cartoon – they most certainly were not. Even the seeds of it were not there then. Must we take the blame for making the Republican Party what it is today by passing the civil rights act?

Andy has Trump** pegged inside and out.

You want to scream? YOU want to scream? My state has Boebert AND Lamborn AND Buck. And poor Freya’s state has Marjorie Taylor Greene! I know, yours is a Democrat, and that makes it worse, but still.

Blast – This is a real earworm, and I mean that in the nicest possible sense.

    • No, we do not have to take the blame…for trying to fix a 90 year old, and much more, cultural heritage of meanness, cruelty, and inequality.  If anything to be blamed for it might for not realizing how deeply entrenched the racist mind-set was…down in the deep dark underbelly of the nation.  I can not speak for what Pres. Johnson did, or did not, know about that, coming from good ol’ Texas, as he did.  The “Great Migration” north was still going on, into the ’70’s, in fact, as generations of Blacks were escaping the south.  Read “The Warmth of Other Suns, The Epic Story of America’s Mass Migration,” by Isabel Wilkerson.
That the “Dixiecrats” joined the Republicans, and they collectively became the party that worships the golden statue, is their responsibility alone.  Even Charles Koch recently said he thought “…we had gone too far,” after he ad his brother worked, assiduously, since the ’70’s to get their elitist, bigoted, memes accepted as truth.

  4. TNY: tRump and his rotten core seems to be stuck on two thoughts; that the past election was stolen and now he thinks he’ll win in 2024. Hate to tell him, he’s on the wrong track…that he’ll be in prison well before then.
BFTP: Great song. Love listening to Simon & Garfunkel.
Sorry to hear that you had such a long day of sitting yesterday, but I feel it was well worth it and will benefit you in so many ways….thanks goodness.
Hopefully your prescriptions came today and will start helping your pain.
Please take care and get your rest, TC.

  5. Late to this confab (had lots of things needing attending – including getting my FIRST COVID VACCINE SHOT!  YIPPEE!)
I doubt there will be another extended encounter with your Hospice Caretakers.  But if there is, please – PLEASE tell them you need a break to lie down because of the mets in your spine.  I’m sure they will understand and do everything they can to accommodate you.
Of course, they’re on a schedule (although generally loose), so they might continue the encounter w/ you supine – but that shouldn’t make a big difference.

  6. The intake nurse appears to have been very thorough and that will undoubtedly go to giving the best care they can offer. You didn’t say what time the nurse came in to see you, but things add up quickly for you now and I’m sorry it took so much out of you and your pain has taken over again. I hope your new medication regime will take care of that soon.

3:36 too. Sadly this pretty plant doesn’t grow naturally on this side of Oz and in Western Australia, it is slowly being pushed out by non-indigenous plants.

    Cartoon: They definitely were not.

TNY: You were spot-on, Andy, but your prophecies aren’t that difficult to make, are they? Despite being unpredictable, Trump has been very predictable in his unpredictability. He never wavered from his delusion that he’s won the election by a landslide were it not for those darn Democrats and in his mushy mind, he still is president. He’s a king without a country and he should join the half-a-dozen or so of the disposed of royalty that sits around moping in Europe.

Alternet: We all knew there was a downside to “Vote a Democrat no matter what”, as it was clear some were more DINO than Democrats could afford to have in their nest. Fortunately, there still is some room to manoeuvre in the House numbers, but this must never happen in the Senate.

BFTP: There isn’t a song on that album I don’t love

  7. Thanks and Hugs to all! 23
