It’s a tired day here in the CatBox.  Yesterday, WWWendy and I had lots to do.  We set refills for pain meds and scheduled my next infusion for Friday the 15th.  WWWendy picked up Subway sandwiches.  I’m enjoying them, but I trust Mitch (ours, not BBBMMM) will confirm that any NJ denizen knows what comes from Subway isn’t a sub. I’m listening to election day in GA.  I look forward to good news.  Tomorrow I may have no more than a Personal Update, depending on how much time I need to spend watching  Hawley’s Hookers trying to steal the White House AGAIN.  Tuesday is Flush Your Republicans Day.  If they smell like shit, there’s a reason for that.

Today’s took me 3:24 (average 5:25).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: The polling says the runoff races for the two Senate seats in Georgia are tied, and if the polls don’t say that, they’re likely wrong. We don’t need a poll to tell us what we just saw weeks ago in the November general election: Georgia is balanced on a razor’s edge, and the victor will be the party that best gets its voters to the polls. How’s that for a hot take?

But of course Georgia has been voting for weeks, and as such, we have some hints as to what’s coming when the votes are counted.

I agree that it’s a bad time to impeach Trump*, as much as I would like to do so. Let’s make Biden the center of attention, not Trump!  RESIST!!

  1. Cartoon: Word.
DK: Great article. Fingers crossed for Ossoff and Warnock for the WIN!!!  in GA.
MSNBC: What a tiring game the Repugs play! ugh! Drop dt like a hot potato, as he’s been negative from day one. I agree w/you, Tom, flush this id OUT, and let Joe bring in the normalcy and respect back to the WH.
BFTP: Wore the vinyl off this 45. Over and over. Love this song!

Glad that you got your chores finished, and can now relax and rest. Having lived in NJ for years, a hoagy is a hoagy. Subway? nah! Doesn’t even come close! At. All.  Enjoy the rest of your day, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Trump to sue GA Secretary of State, for recording a call where he demanded a crime be committed.” ~ Sarah Burris ~
    2. Re: dt and his prison time – “That gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Think I’ll make myself a nice hot cup of schadenfreude.” ~ Deborah P. ~
    3. “What you hear on the #Trump Tapes is a a terrified bully who has never had to face accountability for his criminality and has never been unable to weasel out of a defeat. He will face accountability this time. He will not weasel out of this one.” ~ John Povlovitz ~
    4. “The Presidential Records Act says we own everything he says or writes. dt has no standing.” ~ Patrick H. ~
    5. “Man refuses to leave job he hates.” ~ Andy Borowitz ~
    6. “The audio of Trump with the GA Secretary of State. Wow! It’s like telling the Nixon Tapes to ‘hold my beer.'”
    ~ Dan Rather ~

    • TJI #2 – “Schadenfreude” to me (and to Google translate) conveys connotations of malice thatI don’t find necessary when the subject’s misfortune is very much (and demonsrably) due to his or her own behavior. So I’ll be looking for a nice hot cup of justice. Maybe karma. Or maybe even just closure.
TJI #3 – I also believe that. Dear God, may we be correct.
TJI #4 – Gee, I wonder why that act was drafted and passed.
      TJI #6 – PERFECT analogy.

    • TJI#1: Of course.
TJI#5: Man will hate prison so much more.  AWWWWWWWWW!
All the rest are beautiful, as well.

    • TJI #1: I’ve come across a couple of articles claiming, based on the volume and strength of Trump’s voice, is that he taped it.  I’ve also read that the Sec. of State denies having done the taping.

Does anyone have any corroborative info WRT who taped it?

    • TJI #1: tRump to sue?…what a fool. Doesn’t he know that whenever you call these government numbers it states at the beginning, that all calls are recorded??
TJI#3: I hope he will be help responsible for his actions. He’s gotten away with way too much.
      TJI#6: So true.

  2. Glad you had such a productive day yesterday. I hope tomorrow is not too stressful – for any of us.

More detail on the new rules package for the House.

Cartoon – The men who don’t respect women are terrified of us. It’s been that way as long as I can remember

DKos – True, it isn’t predictable. But we are doing the right things. If we lose, I don’t think it will be because there was anything that we could have done differently. For instance, both of our candidates out-fund-raised theirs by a factor of about ten to six (and it was VERY expensive.) Both out candidates are strong candidates of integrity, and they are avoiding doing anything obviously wrong, which is not as easy as it sounds.

MSNBC – I don’t think this is the time either – and it’s nice to know that someone who has all the knowledge to form a valid opinion agrees.

Blast – I think I’ve already dais everything I have to say abut this one.

  3. ‘Toon: So, one can tell a man’s character by the wayne treats women.  There are soooo many losers!
MSNBC: This is a week that will be noted, asterisked, quoted, underlined, written in RED letters (not that kind of red), and will birth any number of Political-Science Ph. D. thesis, no matter which ay it turns out.  However, we know the way it ought to turn out, both legally, and morally.
    BFP: Love it!
Other: Once again “You Are On Line” for registering for Moderna’s inoculation.

  4. I’d enjoy having Mitch share what makes a NJ sub different from a Subway sandwich.

I know there’s lots of variations on a theme between a sub, hoagie, grinder, gyro, hero, Po Boy, etc.  Way too confusing for me, but I’d love to learn.

The NY Times is providing a running evaluation of Georgia runoff elections outcomes:

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/01/05/us/elections/forecast-georgia-senate-runoff.html

As of the time of posting, and with 19% vote reporting, NY Times is predicting wins for BOTH Warnock & Ossoff!

    • I’ll do that, Nameless.  Take am 18″ loaf of crusty Italian bread, split it and open it up.  Then remove most of the soft doughy tread from the middle.  Sprinkle it with oil and vinegar.  Fill it thoroughly with meats and cheeses with an assortment of veggies.  Stuff it all together and cut it in half.  One Atlantic City Sub has the fixin’s of about six Subways! 25

  5. Cartoon: Seen so many men who never respected women especially ones high ranked in corporations/services.
DK: I’m feeling positive about both Ossoff and Warnock. Besides the two rotten R’s that they’re running against, the people are sick of having mItch the bi*ch, sitting on everything, not approving numerous bills for the people. So the people there in GA hopefully will vote for Ossoff and Warnock. As of this evening they both are ahead.
BFTP: Big fan of the Animals. Great tune.
Happy to see that you and Wendy got a lot of chores completed yesterday.
Hope the rest of your day went well.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  6. Everyone is holding their breath awaiting news from GA, so it’s relatively quiet news-wise. Unless Trump goes ballistic again, that is. Enjoy the quiet while it lasts, TomCat.

3:41 Getting there, though a prickly pear is hardly motivating.

Cartoon: Given Republican reading abilities, they stumble over the expression “of quality” and think it applies to them. No way, indeed.

DK: Superior analysis or not, all you can do now is wait for all those votes to be counted while making sure everything is above board. Nerve-wracking.

    BFTP: Very good one.

  7. Thanks and tired busy Hugs to all!  23
