It’s a lazy day here in the CatBox.  I did my research and rested for an hour and a half for my back.  Tomorrow I’ll be in the saddle, but it will be a grocery delivery day.  Happy Hump Day!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:32 (average 5:51).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Cartoon:

Short Takes:

From Crooks and Liars: Dr. Rebekah Jones built her own COVID-19 dashboard to track Florida infections and deaths after being fired for accurately reporting that data as part of her job with the state.

Since then, she’s been reporting COVID stats on her own from her own hardware in her own home. Until today. (WARNING: The video in her first tweet is triggering):

She is guilty of truth-telling. If the Republican Reich is not destroyed, they will continue to fight to make opposition to Republican lies a capital offense.  RESIST!!

From NPR: The federal government on Monday released detailed hospital-level data showing the toll COVID-19 is taking on health care facilities, including how many inpatient and ICU beds are available on a weekly basis.

Using an analysis from the University of Minnesota’s COVID-19 Hospitalization Tracking Project, NPR has created a tool that allows you to see how your local hospital and your county overall are faring. (Jump to look-up tool.)

It focuses on one important metric — how many beds are filled with COVID-19 patients — and shows this for each hospital and on average for each county.

This is a handy tool. Click “(Jump to look-up tool.)” above to use it.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): The Biden Administration: Who Will Hold the Power?

Of course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right, and in this case, most informative!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Chris Hayes: The Rot Won’t Go Away With Trump

Of course you know that I’ve been saying this for years. Trump is not the cause of the National Socialism in the Republican Reich. He is the reflection of it. They are turning on him now, because he is a scapegoat to blame for who they are and what they have done. The only you to make the rot go away is to destroy the Republican Party.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast of Christmas): Nat King Cole – Away in a Manger

I pray this season brings peace and beauty to you and yours whether or not you celebrate Christmas.  HUGS!!

  1. Cartoon: Par for them, they’ve got years of experience!
C&L: Holy Moly! Now THAT is downright scary. In trouble for telling/showing the truth. WTH? What a hero!
NPR: Travis – 11% (Austin), ‘No data’ for my county…nor Houston co.  Odd.
RRC: How interesting…and seeing where everyone is, and works from!
MSNBC: God,how horriblel! Which of course, we knew how the R’s were/are.. from day 1… and so it goes on and on..and they don’t care either.
YT: Nat King Cole, such a beautiful singer with a warm heart.

Glad that you’re feeling better with your back. Hope that you have a good, relaxing, chore-free day and get a chance to rest. Take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “No one could have predicted that the party of Nazis, mall creepers, compromised Russian assets, pedophile wrestling coaches, blackout-drunk rapist judges, concentration camp fanboys and bone saw murder apologists would also be the party of democracy-hating election meddlers.” ~ Jeff Tiedrich ~ HT/JD
    2. “Fascinating that Republicans are willing to defy trump by passing a bill he swore to veto, but aren’t willing to state the obvious, he lost the election.” ~ Senator Claire McCaskill ~
    3. “Twitter billionaire Jack Dorsey gives US mayors $15 million to fund for universal basic income.” ~ Alexandra K. ~
    4. “Well….Donald did not have stock in Pfizer. he won’t make money from it, and that’s all he care about, himself, and $$money$$.” ~ Cherri H. ~
    5. “trump asks Pennsylvania House Speaker for help overturning election results, personally intervening in a third state. The call makes PA the 3rd state where the president has directly attempted to overturn a result. Say what you will, but at least he called. It’s so much more personal than destroying democracy by text.” ~ Stephen Colbert ~   -the other two states were GA & WI.- *wapo

    • TJI #2 – When she was in the Senate, I had no idea she was as witty as she is. And, Dino or not, she was much better than what’s in that seat now. I kind os miss her there, even though I love her now-outspoken style.
TJI #5 – Yeah, But even a text is more personal than a tweet.

  2. Expecting overcast tomorrow and snow Friday and Saturday.

Cartoon – They are so dumb and so obvious. A professional thief would steal the presents out of the boxes now, rewrapping them so deftly it’s impossible to tell they are gone (and weighting the heavier ones.)

C & L – Let’s be clear – this is De Santis. I can think of other Republican governors who pulled – or tried to pull – stuff on their own, but this is the first one who went to the Gestapo level on his own. And he won’t be gone in January. The consensus at Daily Kos (or near-consensus) is that, given her credentials, she almost certainly has everything backed up in the cloud … but that’s not really the point, is it. Here’s a petition.

Reich – Great minds. Saw this here, went to take it out of the videos I have for today, and it wasn’t there. So I must have posted it yesterday. Ooops!

Blast – There are three tunes to this song. I think that this is the best known, but another one is also fairly common. The third is less often heard (so of course it’s my favorite. Call me eccentric.)

  3. I miss Sen. McCaskill!  Now we got that smarmy, smart-ass Josh Hawley.  He’s already trying to position himself as presidential material.

Turns out Josh doesn’t currently reside in Missouri.  But he’s building a house here.  Of note is that the lot was purchased and held by his DAD.  Dad just added Josh’s name to the deed so he could claim residence.

That fact prompted this smart-ass Tweet:

  4. Cartoon: That’s how wicked they are.
C&L: Despicable. I seen the video on the nightly news last evening. Treated her like she was wanted for murder. WTF???
NPR: It’s insane. The numbers are rising everywhere. We are on lock down again. They’ve been sending us messages on our cell phones telling us to stay home.
RRC: Joe Biden has been doing a great job with his choices. Can’t wait till January 20, 2021.
MSNBC: Talk about going low, tRump and all of his rotten R’s continue trying to make our country suffer with all of their stinking games. May they all rot in he*l for their evilness.
BoC: Love Nat King Cole. Beautiful song. Thank you for the kind wishes/prayers TomCat. I pray that the season brings you peace and beauty too.
Hope you had a nice restful day. Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Lazy days are good, TomCat

3:39 Make sure you lower the sail before eating him; it might get stuck otherwise.

Cartoon: What presents? There wasn’t any money for presents this year.

C&L: Yesterday the US reached a new milestone of more than 3,000 COVID-19 deaths in a day. That wouldn’t include Florida’s deaths, I assume. The video of the police entering Rebekah Jones’ house with a search warrant, harassing her, her husband and her children, is disgusting and far beyond the pale. Well, in any other western society it would be, but apparently no longer in the Banana republic of America. If you’re not propagating the lies of your state or federal government but telling the truth in one of the worst pandemics the country has ever seen, then you will be silenced one way or another. I’m surprised and disgusted this got so little national/international attention, so thank you for posting, TomCat.

NPR: Thank goodness they haven’t got to all the truth-tellers.

    MSNBC:

to Chris who has the guts to spell it out for those dunces who didn’t get the message yet. Trump is just a deflection from the rot that has been left to grow within the GOP for decades. He paved the way for these fascists in Republican clothing, now there’s no holding them back. Their base has voted them back in, that should tell you enough. This is the reason why I’ve given up hope for America.

BOXmas: Unknown to me but good to hear.

  6. Thanks and Hugs to all! 16
