From Daily Kos: Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert has made quite a name for himself around these parts and others. Now the House Republican is jumping with both feet into suggesting that, well, maybe if Donald Trump didn’t win the election maybe it’s time for his Republican voters to rise up and end American democracy, period.
As reported by the Dallas Morning News, Gohmert claimed to a “Million MAGA March” audience near the White House that “this was a cheated election and we can’t let it stand.” He spoke of the American revolution and the Egyptian uprising: “They rose up though all over Egypt, and as a result of the people rising up in the greatest numbers in history,” he said, and “if they can do that there, think of what we can do here.”
And in perhaps what passed for an acknowledgement that an armed coup by red hat-wearing bozos would be, ahem, unpopular with the general public, Gohmert was quick to point out that “only about 30%” of American colonists supported that previous revolution. You don’t need a majority in these matters, after all. You just need enough ammunition.
I’m not at all surprised that the guilty party is Louie “Go Go Goose Step” Gomerde. However, it’s hard to find a Republican that would not plug into GOP Nazism. RESIST!!

Cartoon – Because of course they did. Too ignorant to realize our founders valued foreign relations so highly that some of our most prominent Revolutionaries became diplomats and ambassadors almost imediately. IIRC Adams went to England, And Franklin went to France (and didn’t Jefferson also?)
DK – Louie also seemed to be confusing the modern Egyptian revolution with the Biblical not-exactly-a-revolution. Many people are saying that if their revolution leads to them spending 40 years in the desert, well, have at it. I am inclined to agree – just not one of OUR deserts, which are already way too ecologically fragile.
MSNBC – I almost picked this one up too. It is so on target. (Ask yourself who benefits from having us obsessed with Biden’s attitude toward prosecuting Trump* – or anyone else personally. Hint: It isn’t Biden.)
Blast – almost at the end of Scalia/Ginsburg (the opera). there is a duet: “We are different…we are one.” In the (recorded love) performance I listened to, it brought down the house.

Cartoon: Even though they weren’t the Republicans as we know them now, I’m not surprised America did.
DK: The only things consistent in Louie Gohmert’s rhetoric is his unfathomable stupidity and his solid fascism. The two together make for terrible politics, impossible to listen to. But he must have a solid core of fans because they keep voting him back in the House. If they are equally stupid and have enough ammunition, they may take his ‘speeches’ to heart.
MSNBC: Excellent case made by Ari Melber. Biden shouldn’t interfere one way or the other. But I sure hope he’ll pick a DOJ who will look into Trump’s crimes and that of his cronies on their own accord and not let Trump & Co get away with what they did in the last 4 years.
