It’s a spooky day here in the CatBox.  The Republicosis still plagues me, but I have it under control.  Tomorrow is a WWWendy day day.  Then she is going to the coast until Thursday.  She needs a vacation.  Tomorrow is also a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos play the Chargers, but it won’t be televised locally.  In honor of the day, Boo2U2!

Today’s took me 3:21 (average 5:01).  To do it, click here.  How did you too?

This map measures daily deaths per capita

US Cases: 9,324,833
US Deaths: 235,264

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Democratic voters are anxiously awaiting Election Day in the hope that Democratic candidates and activists will finally stop texting them, a new poll shows.

In conversations with Democratic voters across the country, “No longer being texted by Democrats” has emerged as one of the most important issues to them in the 2020 campaign.

Dang, Andy! That isn’t satire; it’s gospel! If I had a nickel for every text, email, and/or phone call I’ve received from an organization dunning me that the future of our nation depends solely on my donation to that organization, I could damn near pay off the national debt!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Take Heart That Americans Still Believe In Democracy; Early Vote Numbers Prove It

I trust that you won’t mind if I pray like hell that Rachel is right. The early voting numbers are the best cause for hope I have seen! RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Fleetwood Mac – The Chain (Official Audio)

Ah… the memories!  We’ve been so long under a Republican Reich we nees some beauty in our lives.  RESIST!!

  1. I should think WWWendy does need a vacation. I hope it is refreshing and safe for her! And you have a good day with her! And give her my best.

The Project on Government Oversight is holding an open-to-the-public moot court for two finalists of a contest they ran on how to prepare for emergencies exactly like the ones we are seeing during this election season. This link to the registration page doesn’t give all the details, but it has another link that does. If you are concerned about martial law/militia takeover, you will want to look into it, even if you end up not “attending.”

Cartoon – Why cross it? Just stand in the middle of it, and get your ears skritched.

TVU – So that’s what “almost nothing” looks like to Junior. So if anyone you care about has doed from this plague, just remember, Don Jr. says they were almost nothing.

Andy – And this, satiric as it is, is why I did not volunteer to write letters or make calls. I know this is exactly how I would feel about it. And I am such a poor salesperson, if you came into my store intending to purchase something, I might well talk you out of it without intending to.

Rachel – Early voting turnout in Harris County, TX, has alreadt surpassed TOTAL turnout from 2016 – and maximum total turnout in any election there to date. That is impressive. And, yes, you are right, this is a cause for hope that we cn see, as opposed to polls which, even when as accurate as possible, are iffy.

    Blast – Ambiguous to me.

  2. Thanks TC.  Glad you are seeing some improvement.
I saw more evidence of local DEM party reaching out to voters this year than I have ever seen. Coordinated candidate meet opportunities and outreach even for poll watcher volunteers. I stopped getting calls or election mail just a couple days after my vote had been confirmed ready to count.
DK mentions the possibility my rep. could be defeated (McClintock)–Kennedy began doing Covid Town Halls with county health officers and an epidemiologist along with county supervisors–better involvement and services in other counties than mine in the first. I skipped the 2nd that would be much the same it seemed. The third had those that could help and new the details and could give advice as the PPP problems emerged for small businesses.  It wasn’t until after the 4th that there was even an email from our rep. on the subject.

  3. TVU: Still climbing everywhere. Sure wish we could get a handle on it.
TNY: We’ll all be happy when this election is over. Sick of the political flyers in the daily mail, emails, texts and commercials.
Rachel: As of today, nearly half of San Diego County’s 1.95 Million voters have now cast ballots, which is more than double the amount received by this point in 2016. I’m praying too, TC.
    BFTP: I love Fleetwood Mac.
Hope your day went well. Tell Wendy “Hi and to enjoy and have a safe trip/vacation.” Yes, I agree, she deserves one.
Hope your Broncos win tomorrow. I don’t miss the Chargers. I know a lot of their fans here in San Diego were pissed off when they decided to leave San Diego.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  4. Glad the Republicosis is under control, TomCat. Let’s hope the rest of America does the same on Tuesday.

    3:26 Prickly indeed.

    Cartoon: Please do.

TVU: Is this the special scary Halloween edition? As if reality isn’t scary enough?

TNY: I can commiserate with that, Andy. Living outside America I don’t get texts, but the number of emails plugging up my spam box from Democrats who think they have found a kindred spirit is exorbitant.

MSNBC: Thanks, Rachel, for that pick-me-up.

BFTP: Thanks, TomCat, for that pick-me-up.
