Yesterday I tripped over the cat and took a tumble ending w/ a face plant.

My right knee was quite painful getting up, but I cleaned up my facial abrasions first.  Then my sweatpants rubbing against my right knee became so painful I took a look.  My R knee was HUGE.  So I immediately began RICE treatment (Rest, Ice, Compression & Elevations).

I had my scheduled PT appointment this morning, so I had Rashad take a look.  He’s concerned that there might be a Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury, and asked me to contact my PCP.

I took pictures of my knee and abrasions, and sent them along w/ a detailed history of the injury to my PCP via the Portal.  (I LOVE having portals!)

Haven’t heard back from her, but needing to keep my leg elevated has really cramped any computer work.  So I’ll be skipping this week.

If I come across a brief/short humorous piece, I’ll share it.  But I’m going to be scarce for a few days.

  1. I am SO SORRY!  That must be terrible!  I remamber how badly my knee  hurt last winter when I had a bad arthritis flareup and my heart goes out to you.  Pleas, please ake care of yourself.  And Nike.  I’m sure he meant no harm.  Tell him I said he should be nursing you.

  2. Sorry to hear about your tumble, Nameless. Sounds awful hearing about all that you injured; your face and knee. Hope you’re not in too much pain, that it eases us quickly. Plus that the swelling goes down too.
I know all about knee pain. I torn my right knee meniscus years ago, The tear wasn’t the normal type, so they said it couldn’t be surgically repaired. I have to be careful not to do things that aggravates it.
Will be praying that you get to feeling better real soon. Plus that you PCP will get back to you real soon, since tomorrow is Friday.
    Keep me/us posted.
Take care,  Nameless 22 Get well soon!

  3. You poor man. I’m so sorry to hear about your tumble and even more about the damage and pain it caused, Nameless. While your medical expertise helps you to do the right thing such as RICE, it doesn’t make your pain and discomfort any less.

Tell Nike you’re no longer as nimble as that.

I hope you feel better soon and that you’re knee isn’t damaged beyond the swelling.

  4. Damn, Nameless I’m so sorry, and on behalf of my relative, Nike, please accept my most humble apology!  I pray that you will recover 100% in short order.

    Healing Hugs! 36

  5. Sorry to hear of that!
I had an injury to my pcl in 1967, did not know about it until the knee swelled up in 1982, and that was when the official Dx was made.  One surgeon wanted to operate, a second urged PT or two exercises at a gym.  I opted for the latter, and went to the gym 3X/week, for 37 years.  Now, a year after I stopped that, I’m still okay.    Not that I haven’t been limping slightly all this time. Just saying!

  6. Geez Nameless!  Has Nike apologised yet?  The last time I had a serious run-in with a cat, I ended up with 10 days of out patient IV anti-biotic treatment and a lot of pain.  8 years later, I still have the scars but no pain.  Oh, and Primo did apologise.  He now sleeps on the bed instead of on the floor beside the bed.  For cats, I believe it is self interest.  Too bad that Nike can’t do the fetch and carry for you.

Please take care of you and heal quickly!  23 22

  7. Thanks all for your much-appreciated concern.

The knee is now starting to turn black-&-blue.

Following sending my PCP the history & pictures, I heard back from the nurse practitioner today, and setup an appointment for Monday w/ one of the NP (PCP is out of the office).

Curious on what he’s going to recommend.
