Almost every time I see criminal Fuhrer Trump*, aka Nincompoop Nero, he crows about his wonderful economic recovery, calling it the best recovery in US history. He also claims that if Joe Biden becomes President, he will destroy the economy. In truth, Nincompoop Nero fiddled while America burned.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough was astonished by a detailed analysis of the economic pain suffered by many American workers — but not all of them.
“Morning Joe” contributor Steve Rattner, a former economic adviser to President Barack Obama, brought charts to fact check claims by President Donald Trump and his advisers about the recovery since the coronavirus pandemic destroyed the U.S. economy.
“The pace of job recovery is actually slowing fairly dramatically,” Rattner said. “One other small point, the 8.4 percent unemployment rate is really 9.1 percent — the Department of Labor said there was a misclassification error, so that number isn’t as good either. Let’s turn to this question whether we’re dealing with a broad-based recovery of jobs or something more narrow. What you can see on the next chart are the disparities in how different Americans have fared. This is because the pandemic or the economic crisis didn’t hit every industry equally, travel, recreation, restaurants, so on, where people of color, lower income, women work and it was hit disproportionately hard.”
“If you are a Black person, 11.2 percent of Blacks lost their jobs, compared to 6.4 percent of whites,” he added. “If you have less than a high school diploma, almost 19 percent of those folks lost their jobs. If you have a college degree, you probably didn’t lose your job at all, because virtually none of them lost their jobs since this started.”…

As you can see, Trump* and the Republican Reich* have destroyed the economy, and the recovery is both too slow and decreasing over time. If Biden becomes President, he needs to shut down at once, support those who do, perform extensive testing and contact tracing, and wait till it’s safe to re-open. That will allow a rapid recovery. I’d like to say it will be a complete recovery, but many of the jobs Republicans destroyed are gone and will never come back. To fully recover we need major investments in infrastructure and green energy to put America to work. If Trump* had shut down properly, Trump* virus would be behind us already. So we can’t blame Biden for the short term effects of doing what Trump* should have done.

I feel bad for those who are struggling, it’s awful, and depressing, imho.
A “misclassification error”? Really? That sounds FUBAR.
What Republicans can never see, and even some Democrats struggle with, is that no voter pays any attention to unemployment statistics or charts like this. Voters pay attention to whether or not they have a job. If you are a voter who doesn’t – then all of this is just fake news. I’m not saying that all voters without jobs believe the government is lying – I am saying that to a voter without a job it’s all irrelevant. And I speak as someone who has been intermittently unemployed my entire life (and yet employed enough to accumulate Social Security payments that a non-greedy person with few expenses can live on fairly comfortably.)

We need to get out the Progressive vote. Make sure you are registered to vote, make sure all your progressive kith and kin are registered, volunteer at a registration drive, offer to drive people to the polls, donate what you can to candidates you support, help their campaigns, and above all, get your arse to the polls (or snag a mail-in ballot) and VOTE!!!

Sigh, I hate to tell you this but here Down Under the charts look much the same and here the government is using them to push the premiers (governors) of the states and territories into opening up their borders and their economies. Only the stock market is doing very well, again showing how divorced these markets are from any real economy.
