It’s a busy day, here in the CatBox.  Store to Door is delivering a very large grocery order late this morning or early this afternoon.  It’s big, because WWWendy’s last day is Tuesday, before she is out of town for nine days visiting relatives.  So, I’ll need a nine day supply of goop.  Thursday is flush your Republicans day.  I hope my laxative works.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:59 (average 6:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Trump* Virus Update:

0709TrumpVirusMap

US Cases: 3,160,284
US Deaths: 134,920

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: In a scandal that threatens to upend Donald Trump’s Presidency, a new book accuses Trump of paying Vice-President Mike Pence to take his coronavirus tests for him.

According to the book, “Swapping Swabs: Trump’s Pandemic of Lies,” when the subject of being tested for the virus first came up, in March, Trump started casting about for a “good test-taker” to substitute for him.

Trump considered several candidates for the ruse, including his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and the Attorney General, William Barr, but ultimately settled on Pence, who agreed to take the tests for the fee of twenty-five dollars per result.

Dang, Andy! That should not be worded as an accusation. It should be worded as a fact!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): ‘Bullying, Intimidation, And Retaliation:’ Key Impeachment Witness Vindman Retires

Lt. Colonel Vindman is a hero and a patriot. Criminal Fuhrer Bone Spurs* is a bully and a coward!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast that was played at Woodstock): Jefferson Airplane – Volunteers (with Lyric)

Dedicated to all who were at Woodstock or wanted to be. Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. My heart skipped a beat when I read “last day,” and then beat twice to make up for it when I read on. So glad you have all the other care in place at this time. Have fun gooping! Best to Wendy, including for safe travel and a healthy and enjoyable trip.

    Lincoln Project – huzzah!

    Meidas Touch (BBA)

Beau has no more f’s to give today

Cartoon – It’s hard to comment when your cartoons are so accurate and complete.

Map – I have the Erinyes looking at New Mexico. Stay tuned.

TNY – I wouldn’t put it past him.

MSNBC – Have been watching this, and, as a veteran, as well as a patriotic American, it breaks my heart. The Lincoln Project made a vid about this, but unless it just got posted in the last half hour, it’s not (yet) on YouTube. I’ll keep looking.

Past – Visually as well as audibly.

  2. ‘toon: I think it goes the other way, with Putin having Trump so far up his pooter he might be constipated!
TVU:  What happened to the south-east corner of florida, most people are already dead?
New Yorker: Asswipe Pence is there, was chosen for a reason.
MSNBC: What a shame.  One can not, I suggest, argue that Trump ruined the man’s life, but he deprived the country of the service of a REAL patriot!
BFTP: I saw RFK in downtown Brooklyn.  Airplane music is wonderful!

  3. Cartoon: Yep…waaaaay up there!
TVU: I believe that the county/&/surrounding counties… we’re up to 2813 cases. Going up, and up!
NYer: If anything, dt can ‘depend’ on Pence…lol
MSNBC: A Nation’s Hero. I second to what you said, Tom. Ditto.
BFTP: Such a great song!!! Love it.

Yes, you sound like you have a very busy day ahead. Hope that all goes well for you, and that you can take a nap/rest this afternoon. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: djt:”I disagree with the @CDC govt. on their very tough and expensive guidelines for opening schools. While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting all of them!!! Rep. Eric Swalwell: “I disagree with my surgeons guidelines for my open heart surgery. I will do the surgery myself.”
    2. FYI – $580,000 per couple in person for Trump’s fundraiser in Florida yesterday.~Anthony Mann, Sun Sentinel ~
    3. Reporter @briefing – My question – “If it’s safe to send kids back to school, is it safe to send Manafort back to prison? Kayleigh “I will never lie to you” McEnany: Walks off stage, no answer. ~ Brian Karem ~
    4. “Black Lives Matter painted in front of trump tower. Now name 5th Avenue Obama Lane. ~ Janine S. ~
“Should have used glow in the dark paint. Wouldn’t that have been beautiful?” ~ George C. ~
    5. “With covid19 surging across the Nation, dt should be doing everything in his power to increase access to testing. Instead, he’s doing the opposite. It’s despicable.” ~ Joe Biden ~

  4. LP: I never, no, we never trusted them in the first place!
MT: Monster Dad, Monster almost, not quite human!  Fuckwad.  Can I say “FuckDad?”
Beau:  I could easily have stopped exactly at the end of the first sentence, after “Well, howdy internet folks,” at second 13.
If schools will open, in Florida, according to schedule, it will be on 8/10/20, exactly 2 weeks before the convention, just enough time for the first new school borne cases to emerge.  I expect that that will not be pretty.  Desalts is about at far up trump’s ass asTrump is up Putin’s.  “If he alters his plans for Jacksonville….”  I do not get that.  If he alters his plans in the way Beau suggested, he shows (unbelievably) leadership and risking the attendees, rather than the children, etc.
“Abject cowardice?”  Mr.Bone spurs?  You betch’a bippy baby!

  5. Cartoon: Spot on.
TVU: The totals keep going up. I wish they could come up with a vaccine.
TNY: It doesn’t surprise me. Awful to see what pEnce does for tRump.
MSNBC: Shameful to see how tRump and others have treated Lt. Colonel Vindman with such disrespect. He will always be a true American Hero.
    BFTP: Great song.
Just like Joanne, I also got a strange feeling/thought when you mentioned Wendy’s last day. I too hope that she will have a safe trip and visit with her family when she does go.
Hope your groceries got there in a timely manner.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  6. I notice that the visit by the palliative care nurse isn’t mentioned in your busy schedule, TomCat. I hope someone will come in and discuss with you who is looking in on you when WWWendy is away for nine days visiting relatives. A nine-day stock of goop isn’t enough, I would think.

4:32 Brilliant colours, not much good to protect eyes though.

Cartoon: Putin is still there, more strongly embedded than ever.

Update: The rate of increasing cases has become the new normal now.

TNY:  I wouldn’t put it past the lot of them if Trump does let himself get tested now and again, convinced that he virus won’t touch him, but that he’d hire someone to be tested negative for him as soon as one of his own tests turns out to be positive. He can’t have it known that he caught it too, of course. And all the people who he thinks might have infected him silently disappear from the scene mafia style.

MSNBC: Vindman was again a hero by speaking out against Trump’s bullying and by holding out almost 8 months before finally resigning because he couldn’t take it any more. Another life destroyed by a vindictive, sadistic tyrant.

BFTP: Great song, though I’m not very familiar with it.

    • No, he didn’t mention the nurse here – but he did in the last comment on yesterday.  She will come and change his patch while Wendy is away.

  7. Thanks and TGIF Hurry Hugs to all! 26
