Yesterday was a busy day, here in the CatBox.  WWWendy and I did lots of gooping and chores.  As a result, I missed a lot of nap time and feel quite tired.  Oh God, it’s Monday!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:15 (average 5:34).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Cartoon:

Trump* Virus Update:

0629TrumpVirusMap

US Cases: 2,637,892
Deaths: 128,45

Short Takes:

From Crooks and Liars: Every member of the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch softball team resigned after GM Connie May used them a photo of them standing for the anthem to tweet an anti-BLM message to Trump.

The Texas-based team is predominantly white, with only two Black players, but they have had run-ins with their GM before over her racist “All Lives Matter” BS. This move, wherein they say they felt used by her as political props to send a message they explicitly reject, was the final straw. They conferred for an hour, confronted May, and left their jerseys on the locker room floor.

Kudos to the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch softball team. They should reorganize under a Democratic GM!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (The Conversation Channel): A field guide to Trump’s dangerous rhetoric

Jennifer seems to have an excellent handle on how criminal Fuhrer Trump* uses his PhD (piled higher and deeper) in Bullshitology!  Some of the Ad… fallacies are also called criminal thinking errors.  RESIST!!

From YouTube ( a blast from the past): Del Shannon – Runaway

This is one of the first songs I learned to sing and play on the guitar. Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. ‘Toon: Ike wanted the system as a peat of a national defense program.  Within every 5 miles of interstate highways, there is a mile of perfectly straight road, intended for possible use by the Air Force!
TVU: As the astute author used to say, “And so it goes.”
C&L: Unbelievable! Note the purposeful absence of expletives: where would I start, and when would I finish?
The Conversation:  I’ve subscribed to them, and found some really good reading.  Trump’s one skill in life is manipulation, and he’s got it down pat.
BFTP: Nice!  Good for you and your guitar.
    How about this?:

  2. Cartoon: Ours are horrible here in Texas. I know a neighbor who fills in the hole just beyond his driveway, every so often. It’s bad all over. ..
TVU: Up and up she goes, where she stops! NO ONE knows…! (sadly)
C&L: Good for them, in resigning. Kudos to these gals for standing up for what’s right.
The Conversation: Good educational video. I just can’t listen to him more than a few minutes. He’s nauseating to listen to. Attack, lie, attack & lie. No positive comments coming from him, either.

Sounds like you and WWWendy were very busy getting your chores done. I hope that you get your rest, and get a chance to nap. Have a good rest of your day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Dems should take Trump’s slogan and run with: ‘Dump Trump and make American Great Again!’
    ~ John G. ~
    2. “Speaking of ‘Law and Order’, when are you (dt), going to condemn your buddy Putin for putting a bounty on the US Military in Afghanistan?” ~ Private J. ~
    3. “Donald Trump’s entire presidency has been a gift to Putin, but this is beyond the pale. It’s a betrayal of the most sacred duty we bear as a Nation, to protect and equip our troops when we send them in harm’s way.” ~ Joe Biden ~
    4. -To Donald Trump- “If you are going to act like a traitor, you don’t get to thank us for our Service.”~Keith E.~.
    5. “Trump knew Putin was hunting and killing our soldiers, and Trump did nothing about it. The US reported it’s highest ever number of Covid19 cases. Trump tweeted a ‘White Power’ video. Trump has been golfing 2 days straight.” ~ R.T. ~
p.s. “Alex Jones was @the State Capitol (Austin, TX) on Sunday protesting to about 150 un-masked protesters about our masked protesters.” *pb*

    • TJI #3 – I gather that speech in its intirety was a real barnburner. Good for Joe. It it even possible to be angry enough about this?
      ” #5 – OMG, I’m so sorry!

  3. I know what you mean about missing sleep time. I’m getting quite fatiged myself lately. Hope you can rest today.

    VoteVets is not messing around

    Lincoln Project

(About the only thing they didn’t say was that Trump and his cult hate, or would have hated, those who fought fascism, because they fought fascism. But I’ll say it.)

Cartoon – An excellent highway system cuts both ways. I’t great for allowing people to educate them selves through travel – but it’s also good for business.

Map – Cases per million is IMO a better rough estimate look than the brute number of cases, though thats important too. A fellow named Gottlieb, who used to work for the Trump regime (and either fell or was pushed due to addiction o facts) is now projecting by the end of December half the country will have or have had CoViD.

C&L – It’s much harder for female athletes than male ones to find employment, or make a living wage, or have any kind of job security. Those who persevere – well, don’t mess with them. I love these ladies so much.

Fallachies – It scares me that so many people are cowed by ad baculum. Ad populum, American Exceptionalism, parallipses, definitely reification (the basis also of racism, colorism, misogyny, homophobia*, bias against people with disabilities, body shaming – you name it), ad hominem – all of these will always fool some of the people. At least it seems to me that many of the people who have the most reason to fear ad baculum are also the ones standing up the most strongly in opposition to it.

Past – I’ll just leave it at that.

    * Speaking of homophobia, anyone want to see a pair of opera superstars, with absolutley zero pretension, just them and an ukulele, singing a duet of “The Rainbow Connection” for Pride?

  4. Cartoon: We have a pretty good system here. Before Covid-19, when people were working, two were nightmares everyday.
TVU: We’ve been in a upward mode for the past week. Today we were at 498 new cases which is our highest ever. We are close to 14,000. They are going to start cutting back like shutting bars, starting Wednesday and considering other places where people gather.
C&L: Power to these women. I agree with you that they should reorganize and start a new league.
The Conversation: I have to agree with others, that I can’t stand listening or watching this rotten liar.
BFTP: Remember the song. Wasn’t even ten when it was releases. I enjoyed it.
Glad you and Wendy were able to get a lot of your stuff done yesterday. Hopefully you will catch up on your rest today.
I want to thank you all for being so caring. My doctor will be calling me Tuesday morning. She will speak about whether she feels a Stress test is needed or to just keep a watch on whether I have anymore issues with the high blood pressure. I’ve always run low. So will keep you posted.
It’s scary to have any type of medical emergency especially now that Covid-19 is happening.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. 3:34 They’re all yours, but how are you going to goop them, TomCat?

Cartoon: Funny how even previous Republican Presidents are starting to look like saints these days.

Update: When is the US going to hit 3 million cases?

C&L: Kudos to all ladies of the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch softball team. They’re a professional team, so it wasn’t a decision that was taken lightly.

TC: Ms Mercieca perfectly nailed Trump’s rhetoric tactics and it’s main drive: force to comply, not lead. I hope more people wake up to this before November 3.

BFTP: I know the song, but I was too young to be blasted by it.

  6. Thanks and Hugs to all! 17
