It’s a tired day, here in the CatBox, and my back is in a lot of pain.  I’m ready for an Oxycodone, lunch and a nap, when I finish here.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 4:39).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Cartoon:

Trump* Virus Update:

0501TrumpVirusMap

Coronavirus Cases: 1,099,275
Deaths: 63,972
Recovered: 156,089

Our Poll:

I owe you all an apology.  What with all the medical mayhem and personal mayhem surrounding my impending demise, I neglected our poll for months, without updating it.  If you would like to read the results and comments, click here.  I have put up a new poll.  Please vote now and in November.

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: The concept of a living wage is apparently still unfathomable for South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who on Wednesday promised he would do everything in his power to fight an extension of federal coronavirus relief that would give those who are unemployed an extra $600 a week, according to The Post and Courier. “I promise you over our dead bodies will this get reauthorized,” Graham said of himself and Republican Sen. Tim Scott. “We’ve got to stop this.”… [emphasis added]

Hmmm… reauthorizing an extra $600 per worker in Trump* virus relief over the dead bodies of Lindsey Graham [R-SC] and Tim Scott [R-SC] is the best idea Lindsey Poo has had this year!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Vox Channel): How to vote during a pandemic

How to vote during a pandemic of Trump* virus? Vote no matter what! Vote by mail, if possible! If not, vote VERY carefully! Finally, vote Blue, no matter who, top to bottom! Every Republican in office is one Republican too many.  Flush them all!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Gordon Lightfoot – If You Could Read My Mind

Ah… the memories… RESIST!!

Vote Blue No Matter Who Top to Bottom!!

  1. Biden is no prize, but we MUST get tRump the hell out of the White House. The Dumbocrats’ nominee leaves a lot to be desired, but right now it’s probably more important to get real Progressives in Congress, as well as in local and state positions.

  2. Video: Al Franken drawing a map of the US (all 50) from memory in about 6 minutes (for charity)

Cartoon – The 99% are either trampled or defecated upon by the elephant.

Map – Indeed. I think the format from yesterday may give a clearer picture of the real hot spots, but this is bad enough.

Poll – Well, I would change my answer from “both equally” to “both proportioned by constituency.” But I still think the “something else” (and I specifically had in mind combating slander) is important. I didn’t see Morning Joe today, but I am seeing opinions that our Joe acquitted himself well on it (choice of words deliberate).

DKps – I’m afraid I agree that he makes it sound even more attractive than it already was. (Of course I mean dead political bodies. I’m not advocating violence/  at the moment.)

Vox – Yes indeed. Nothing to add.

Past – What a tale indeed. Another gift from Canada (just yesterday we had Sam and Leonard and I failed to give them recognition.)

    RESIST !!!

    • This Just In (apologies, Pat) – Jerome Corsi attempts to send glowing email to Hydroxiquine-pushing doctor, accidentally sends it to Mueller team alum prosecutor now investigating COVID-19 fraud (Well, gee, both last names begin with Z, who knew there were so many people with names beginning with Z?)

      • Joanne: I miss not see Al. I really like him. I watched the video of him making the US map, and am amazed. He’s awesome!

TJI: No worries. Re: Corsi. One just can’t make this stuff up either.
p.s. I miss my trips to our local library. But that’s a good thing.

        Thanks!! for sharing.

        • I sould nave said “hat tip” rather than “apologies, because that’s what I meant.  But I am – I think we are all – a little spacey, for what ever reason or combination of reasons.

I got the link to the video in an email from him. Anyone can join his email list – alfranken.com, scroll to the bottom and sign up. He’s also doing podcasts which you’ll see on the way down (or back up)

  3. Cartoon: Shame they even ride the elephant. They (the elephants) don’t like them.
TVU: I believe that we’re the same as yesterday…which is good for us. (county wise).
Poll: No worries, nor apologies, Tom, you do a fantastic job on PP. I’ll look/read later.
DK: Such a cold blooded man. I pray that Mr. Harrison whoops his as=, in the Senate race, and wins BIG!
Vox: We have voted BLUE by mail for the last few years. Best way to go. I encourage doing this. Early.
BFTP: Hadn’t heard this one in a good while! Good song!

I hope that your back gets better. Get your rest, relax, and take good, good care. Thanks, Tom.

    2. “The media needs to keep goading dt…telling the truth day after day, hour after hour, and ask the hard questions,. If the coward ever takes questions again, we may see the worse breakdown than his deranged disinfectant injection seminar. ~ Shawn G. ~
    3. “dt is sure terrified of Rachel M. Not a peep and she destroys him. ~ Catherine H. ~
    4. “Barr and Trump were handed another defeat in court yesterday losing their attempt to de-fund sanctuary cities. The part that I liked the most is the 3 judge panel said Barr and Trump had violated constitutional separation of powers/principles.” ~ Bev H. ~

  4. Cartoon: No to that. No one should be allowed to ride on them.
TVU: It continues to keep going up here. What gets me is the states that are saying they are going to open, when they haven’t hit their peak yet.
    Poll: Hey we all understand.
DK: We’ll see if it really happens. We’ve seen the all talk, no action types before…many times.
Vox:  Been signing all of the petitions that come my way about making voting by mail available everywhere. Also have been signing the petitions to save the postal service too.
BFTP: Remember the song and artist Gordon Lightfoot, very well. Great one.
Sorry to hear about your awful back pain. Hope you were able to take you pain med and rest some.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. TVU marches along.
DK: Damn, two more graves i would like to pee upon, this might turn into one hell of a tip.
VOX: Voting by mail, could be open to who knows how much manipulating, especially in this administration, is my fear.
BFTP: I love gordon Lightfoot’s music.
This just in: I met a magical fairy yesterday, who said she would grant me one wish.
“I wish to live forever, I said.”
“Sorry,” said the fairy, I’m not allowed to grant that particular wish.”
“Fine, I said, “then I want to die the day after Congress is filled with honest, hard working, bi-partisan men and women who act only in the people’s interests.”
“You crafty bastard,” replied the fairy.

    • What a wonderful magical fairy!  Can you get us an introduction?  Or did you put her out of business 12

WRT voting my mail, those of us who live with it have seen more, not less, voting integrity.  The paper trail it creates aone puts it far ahead of many states.

  6. Take your painkiller, get some rest and forget about the poll, TomCat. You needn’t apologize for it; your health is more important.

3:05 Do you think they have any taste when gooped?

Update: COVID-19 is still in full swing and black is back in fashion, I see.

DK: Over our dead bodies? Your proposal is very tempting indeed, Lindsey.

Vox: Voting by mail seems the way to go in the US, not only during the pandemic.😁 It would keep your postal services running too.

BFTP: Thanks for this classic ballad, TomCat. Great lyrics, beautiful melody and fabulous, soothing voice; it’s got it all to have me stop and listen.

  7. Puzzle — 6:22  You should see me trying to put a cap on a needle with my shaky hands!

Cartoon — I’m with JD on this one!

Trump Virus — At this point, the US has more deaths than Canada has infections.  I don’t know how long that will last.

Daily Kos — Perhaps Lindsey could cut his exorbitant salary and live on $600 per week.  Even that would mean he would be over paid for what he does . . . which is nothing useful.

Vox — Here in Canada, the government is looking at vote by mail and voting using the internet.  This is important especially when we have a minority government.  If the government goes down with a vote of nonconfidence in the Commons then Parliament is dissolved and an election is called.  During the pandemic, that would make things very dicey if not impossible.  Personally, I favour voting by mail because there are too many hackers about.

Blast From the Past — Ah, Lightfoot!  My favourite!  I remembered most of the words and enjoyed singing along.  Another great Lightfoot tune is Sundown.

I hope the meds did the trick so that you could sleep.  While I know you use then judiciously, it is very important that you get your rest!  Please take care.

  8. Thanks and pain hugs to all.  Have a great weekend. 23
