It’s very busy day here at the CatBox, but I am feeling better than yesterday.  Tomorrow and Monday please expect no more than Personal Updates or Open Threads.  Tomorrow is a WWWendy day, with all the normal chores plus it’s Infernal Revenue Day.  Monday, I go to the hospital to have an infusion port surgically installed in my chest.  WWWendy will bring me home.  Tuesday will depend on how I feel after that surgery.  Love to you all!

From Twitter:

Does that say it all, or what?  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Real Time Channel): Sen. Bernie Sanders

Click through using the channel link for the rest of Bill’s show. I don’t have time to submit an article on it this week, but it’s there for you. As for Bernie, he could not be more spot on in his outlook for dealing with the effects of Trump* virus. Looking to the future, Trump and the Republican Reich have trashed the economy so completely that tying health care to employment is no longer feasible.  On Bill’s ‘Manhattan Project’, we need health care that bases profit on wellness. We have healthcare that bases profit on sickness.  That’s bass-ackward!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Maddow to Trump: You Had One Job. Virus Response Needs Competent Leadership

This is one of Rachel’s best ever!  Kate Brown, Governor of Oregon, just lent respirators to New York. Oregon leads the way! Kate is as competent and caring as criminal Fuhrer Trump* and all his Republican lackeys are incompetent and uncaring. Incompetence is a hallmark of the Republican Reich, such as Katrina and the Republican Recession of 2008. What do we say of the Trump* virus pandemic and the Republican Depression of 2020? It’s Trump’s* job, so we say “Heck of a job, Donnie*!”  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Nancy Sinatra – Friday’s Child

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. 7:48 I count 14 eyes.

TC, you do know the IRS filing date has been extended to July due to COVID-19, right? I mean, sure, it’s nice to have it over with early, but if it’s a whole lot of stress, you can take it somewhat more easy. So glad you are feeing better today. Love to WWWendy.

Cartoon – A day which will live in infamy.

Map – Glad to see “Recovered” going up faster than “Deaths”. I hope that can continue. I also hope science can determine exactly how much immunity there is in recovering. At one point they were saying people who have recovered can still get it again, and again. Now they seem to have backed off some from that, but certainly not totally.

Bill – The clips released on YouTube are available here, but as that author points out, there are three great interviews missing. Bernie – Bill: “What’s the cost of doing that?” Robert Reich: “That’s the wrong question. The right question is how much will it cost NOT to do that?” Bernie kind of went there. More detail would have been better. Bill and his disease prevention … the Obama administration (particularly Michelle) tried that. I think we all know what happened. Against Big Food … (Also, someone should tell Bill that candidates’ plans to get Trump to move out should be kept as quiet as possible. We should not be giving him any ideas of what he has to defend against.)

Rachel – Yes. It is terribly frightening. And all I can do is stay home. I have not been out of my house since March 1, except to get the mail (on my property.) They are now saying it may be a good idea to wear a mask if one must go out for groceries or medication. Here are directions to make a (NON-SURGICAL-GRADE and even surgical grade is NOT good enough for COVID-19) mask which requires absolutely no sewing. You might need a pair of scissors.

Past – Nancy made quite a splash, and rightly so – she had plenty of talent, and some truly great covers which spoke loudly to the time (“These Boots” leaps to mind.)

  2. Cartoon: What Joanne so aptly said.
TVU: Meanwhile…he doesn’t give one iota about the us as a Nation. ugh!
    RTC: W/watch later on…
Rachel: Excellent video, Rachel. Very scary, however, every day watching and reading about this. Unreal.
    BFTP: Great song!!

Glad that you’re feeling better….Hope that you get your chores done, and tell Wendy HI. Have a good rest of your day, take good care, rest easy, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “If you want to understand any problem in America, you need to focus on who profits from that problem, not who suffers from the problem. ~ Dr. Amos Wilson ~
    2. “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
    ~ President Theodore Roosevelt. ~
    3. “CPO Gallagher -ZERO –  murders unarmed prisoners and children. Captain Crozier – HERO – Saves the lives of over 4000+ sailors under his Command.” ~ John S. ~
    4. ” ‘SOS’ – Stuck on Stupid. – Beaches in Glynn County, GA., are back open under Gov. Brian Kemp’s order.” ~ Chris C. ~

  3. “Vote Blue No Matter Who Top to Bottom” is dead on – and the bottom is more important than the top. Even if the best the Dumbocrats can do is Biden, we can still get some real change by flipping plenty of Congressional seats to blue and putting the Progressives there. They will concoct and pass the laws and plans our country needs, and a Democrat POTUS will sign them.

  4. I don’t have much t say except we are still healthy here in Central NY. There are 71 cases in my county right now but it’s increasing and we don’t have the needed tests. But the Big Orange Blob has enough 15 minute tests to test all his Big Oil buddies. we’ve been wearing masks for a couple weeks now and staying in except for grocery shopping. Since we’re out in the sticks they don’t have delivery.

tRump insists Cuomo is exaggerating about how many supplies NY’s hospitals need. He knows nothing! You can’t use the same mask all day long. It has to be changed between patient, as do gowns and gloves. He and his son-in-law are as useful as tits on a bull.

Lastly a big THANK YOU to Gov. Kate Brown of Oregon for sending much needed medical supplies to NY. God bless you dear lady!

Stay safe everyone. Carry a box of plastic bagggies in your vehicle if you don’t have rubber gloves for when you put gas in your car. Pumps are touched by countless hands every day. So are door knobs.

  5. Cartoon: Ditto Joanne’s comment.
TVU: Keeps jumping up by high numbers here.
RT: Did watch the show last night. Got a kick of Bill making the best of it with making at home. Did appreciate what Bernie had to say about taking care of the current COVID-19 situation. Too bad the bas*ard in office won’t go by them.
Rachel: Yes it’s getting scarier. Having to go out to my appointments makes me nervous. Had gone to the grocery store after the appointment, but sorry to say the shelves are empty. No TP, PT, napkins, cleaning supplies, can goods, eggs, bread  or other products. It’s a flipping joke.  I tried to find yeast to bake bread in my bread machine and nobody had it. Who would of ever thought we’d be facing something like this??? We are required to wear some sort of homemade mask when we go out. It started at midnight last night,
BFTP: Great song. Nancy had many good tunes. I was into her “These boots are made for walking”.
Glad you are feeling better. Hope and pray it continues. Good luck with the device implanting.
Tell Wendy “Hello” and to be safe too.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  6. Have yourself pampered a bit by WWWendy and make sure you’re well-rested before going in to have the chest infusion-port installed, TomCat. Good luck.

Update: It’s unclear how often these tables and maps are updated, but it must be 8-hourly or something and the “difference” numbers like New Cases and New Deaths must be 8-hourly too because between yesterday’s map and today’s I count 2,171 (+565) New Cases and 1308 (+14) New Deaths. Most countries will give out New Cases and New Deaths over the past 24 hours to give an indication of flattening the curve. At this point in time, the US is still doubling its numbers every 2-3 days, so on the very steep end of the curve. STAY HOME unless for medical reasons.

Twitter: That list of zeros is even longer than that.

Bill Maher: It’s about time that a bipartisan government is working on a huge nation-wide package and after that starts working on the next one as this disaster unfolds. It can be done. America can do it if the right-wing government of Australia can do it. Sure, it was faltering too in the beginning and it has made some mistakes, but now it is pushing one bill after the other that in other times would be called both socialist (cash handouts, subsidizing salaries to keep people on the payroll of companies that close down) and totalitarian too (closing borders between states and enforcing complete lockdown).

MSNBC: Us Aussies have a National Cabinet now comprised of members of the national, state and territory governments (some left and some right) which has met twice now meeting and agreed to further actions to protect the Australian community from the spread of coronavirus. With 50 states that may be difficult for America to do but with so many Republican governors unable to work for the common good, it will be completely impossible. So, Rachel’s call on Trump to appoint anyone as capable coordinator above the states may the only option left and blame him for everything later. But hasn’t Trump appointed Pence in that position already?

BFTP: That never made it across the Atlantic; only “These boots are made for walking” did, I think.
