From Daily Kos: Back when he was a regular on Fox News, then-Sheriff David Clarke’s main schtick involved vicious attacks on Black Lives Matter and the progressive movement, all of which led to Donald Trump very nearly naming him to a top seat in the Department of Home Security.
Clarke, the onetime sheriff of Milwaukee County in Wisconsin, was denied that spot, for reasons—mainly related to his propensity to spout conspiracy theories and “constitutionalist” nonsense—that became all too apparent over the weekend, as Clarke (who has over 900,000 followers) took to Twitter to denounce measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus as “government control” (nefariously manipulated by George Soros) and urging readers to “take the streets” in defiance of it.
Twitter later removed several of the tweets for violating its terms of service, which include a ban on posts urging self-harm.
“GO INTO THE STREETS FOLKS. Visit bars, restaurants, shopping malls, CHURCHES and demand that your schools re-open. NOW! If government doesn’t stop this foolishness…STAY IN THE STREETS. END GOVERNEMNT CONTROL OVER OUR LIVES. IF NOT NOW, WHEN? THIS IS AN EXPLOITATION OF A CRISIS,” Clarke tweeted on Sunday.
Perhaps deplorable Republican Trump* supporters, especially Roberts, Thomas, Scalito, Whoresuch, and KavaNazi should follow his admonishment! RESIST!!

It’s the opposite of “Red Mind”, which is the anxious, over-connected and over-stimulated state. Funny how it also applies to politics.

Joe, Mika, and Joe – Yup. I knew they weren’t testing. Nice that Manchin has at least some Democratic traits. I know sme areas with limited tests were testing for flu first, and if flu came back negative, then testing for COVID, on the assumption that if flu explained symptoms, they were likely negative for COVID. This story from WV is a horse of another color.

Was it! It truly does look like the Mission San Juan Capistrano. The swallows returning on Saint Joseph’s Day have been off again/on again for almost the last century, but unless I skimmed too fast they are now on again.

TVU: There’s 80 cases here in San Diego. I’ve gone out twice this week; went to CVS on Monday to get a newer prescription for the UTI infection and on Tuesday to see my oncologist. I haven’t been out shopping.

MSNBC: Scary to hear this. Wish the bas*ard is office wouldn’t play head games with us. The governor of California is predicting that 56% (25 millions) are expected to get infected with COVID-19 within the next 8 weeks. He’s on right now, breaking news, saying we are on lock down in California.

I could go for a glass of chocolate milk too. I’m curious if it would taste good with the healthier milk substitutes like almond, rice, soy or coconut milk. I have the upper stomach issue, GERD and IBS issues I tend to have problems digesting regular cow milk.

DK: I can’t help hoping mainly elderly Republicans follow his advise, but then they’d block the healthcare facilities for others who need care much more than they do.
MSNBC: It isn’t very useful to talk about “more deaths than Italy”, use either the number of deaths as a percentage of known cases, but better still, since the real number of cases is lagging far behind or is unknown because of the lack of testing, as a percentage of the total population. Of course there will be a greater number of deaths in America (pop. 326 million) than in Italy (pop. 60 million). The key issue is to keep the percentage of deaths in the US below that of Italy and to keep them contained to pockets.
In many countries, people are almost obsessed with absolute numbers, and the governments are using the fear those absolute numbers instil in people to their advantage when they have to roll out more draconian measures each day.
BFTP Oh yes, I remember that one very well, but not from ’64 (too young) but from the time Colin Blunstone released a second version, without the Zombies, I think.
