I’m afraid I’m having a rough day.  I could not keep breakfast down, and my heartburn is screaming.  This is my only article today.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:45 (average 5:20).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

FOMCROTFPIMPLMAO!  RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: An employee who regularly self-identifies as “troubled” or “concerned” would benefit from seeking a different job, leading workplace experts said on Monday.

Professor Davis Logsdon, the director of the University of Minnesota’s Workplace Health Institute, cited the case of a Maine woman who appeared to undergo a traumatic experience every time she was faced with a difficult decision at work.

“According to her own account, each decision followed an excruciating period of existential torment,” Logsdon said. “Any employee who finds decision-making this harrowing should clearly consider working somewhere else.”

Logsdon said that the woman’s frequent episodes of being troubled and/or concerned usually resulted in an unsatisfactory outcome.

“At the end of her nightmarish deliberation process, she lost the capacity for individual judgment,” he said. “She just went along with what everyone else in the office decided to do, regardless of the harm that such a decision might cause.”

Andy, I fully agree. Slithering Susan Collins [R-ME] needs a new job. Work to clean up all the bullshit she has spewed would give her job security for years!  RESIST!!

  1. 5:50 Shades of Monet.

So sorry you are having a bad day! I do hope it improves!

Civics for people who never had civics in school (pretty well everyone under the age of 40.)

I wrangled the CC in, but there are some mistakes (At that speed it’s easy to mis-hear, for sure.) But it’s close.

Cartoon – The Republican Party didn’t exist them (and its origin was nothing like today’s Republicans anyway) but he was a modern Republican in spirit.

Liz – Saw this and loved it. (That questioner really gave her a straight line, but her comedy timing was just perfect.)

TNY – Straight news, and obvious as soon as one hears or reads it … but it took brilliance to write it just that way.

Past – I had no idea of this at the time, but it really is a pity Mike was such a sleaze … and is STILL cheating Brian.

This is the kind of weather we are having today where I am:

    • JD, this video is EXCELLENT!!!!! 03 12 18 It should be shown EVERYWHERE, Republicans be damned because they would likely try to stop it!

JFK said “Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country.”  This may not be the situation he had in mind but it certainly fits — VOTE!!!!!

    • What a wonderful video and one I expect is appealing to those that do not vote because they think it doesn’t matter. 0328

    • Thanks for that great video, JD!

They really no longer teach Civics anymore?

      No wonder Dubya said:

“Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?”

Although I suppose technically Dubya is right: Very rarely IS that question ever asked.

    • Love the vid, as long as nobody uses it as an excuse for apathy. 08

      • YelloPain would be very upset if so, since he only makes the “straw man” case for apathy, in order to knock it down, which I think was a good move.  But I grant that most people recommending it are adding to be sure to watch the whole thing.  Or skip right to the 1:15 mark.

  2. Cartoon: Carrying the dream onwards, U.G.H.!!!
YT: Priceless, Ms. Warren. Priceless! 😉
NYer: If she’s concerned, she should retire. And take the gang with her. Wtg, Andy!
BFTP: Good beach music back in the day.

Sorry to read that you’re not feeling well. Hope that it goes away, and that you start feeling better. Go back to bed and get your rest. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “I have always said that one has to racist to vote or support dt. imho.” ~ Bev H. ~
    2. “I like Bloomberg. If nothing else he’s legitimately a Billionaire, a self made man, and a philanthropist. All the things Trump pretends he is, but isn’t. I hope he (Bloomberg) stays around to drive dt crazy. ~ Wendy B. ~
    3. “President’s dog’s names: Clinton – Buddy. G.W.Bush – Barney, Spot, Ms. Beasley. Obama – Bo, Sunny.
    dt – Lindsey Graham.”
4.”Brad Pitt on accepting his Oscar Awards the other night…”They told me I only have 45 seconds up here which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week.”

  3. Thanks for the video, Joanne. Sad but true. Those who are closest to the pain should be a lot closer to the power.

  4. Sorry for your bad day, TomCat. I hope it improves soon.

    3:10 Delicate yet strong.

Cartoon: Gerry invented it, Republicans perfected it.

YT: Liz’s precise answer to the million-dollar question. You rule, girl.

TNY: Andy, that’s not satire, that’s plain-spoken truth and advice Susan Collins should take to heart.

BFTP: This Beach Boy song never made it to the Dutch charts, so I’m not familiar with it.

  5. Cartoon: Agree with Lona that it’s something that the r’s perfected.
    YT: Perfect response, Liz.
TNY: She needs to retire. Maybe she can get the rest of her precious r friends to follow suit.
BFTP: Was a big fan of the Beach Boys. Brings memories to my younger years when I grew up a block away from the cliffs where the surfers surfed,
Sorry to hear about your heartburn being so bad. Is there anyone you can call to help? I hope so.
Praying that you get it under control soon. So you’ll feel better.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  6. I hope you get to feeling better – AND find a solution for this ongoing affliction!

What a great retort by Sen. Warren!  (I wonder how long she’s been holding on to that one, just waiting for the right moment.)

Susie Collins is never just “troubled or concerned” – she’s always “DEEPLY troubled” and “DEEPLY concerned”.

  7. Thanks and Hump Day Hugs to all! 29
