It’s a tired day here in the CatBox.  I woke up around midnight with an upset stomach, and could not get back to sleep. I held my breakfast down, but just barely.  Oh God, it’s Monday!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:55 (average 5:43).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?  I would have been faster, if I were a dawg, or if the hydrant were Trump*.

Cartoon:

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Everyone loved Bill Murray reprising his role as Phil Connors in Groundhog Day.

Everyone hated Trump.

USA Today’s Ad Meter, which tabulates consumer ratings, has been running its Super Bowl ad rankings since 1989. This year, Trump’s campaign ad was ranked as the worst.

The second-least favorite? This commercial for pretzel Pop-Tarts. Yes, pretzel Pop-Tarts are more popular than the president of the United States. Not coincidentally, a pretzel Pop-Tart would also be a much better president, because it has more dignity and gravitas and doesn’t necessarily have to be thoroughly toasted before breakfast. (You know, because Trump sprinkles Adderall on his pancakes. Or so I’ve heard.)

I personally found this year’s Super Bowl commercials (something I usually enjoy) to be the worst in my memory. That criminal Fuhrer Trump’s* was the worst of the worst put a smile on my face. RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Will New Hampshire Finish Joe Biden’s Political Career?

What really upset me is to see Liz tied with Biden at fourth. I think that ABC’s decision to give Pete and Amy more time than Bernie and Joe and way more time than Liz is at least partially to blame for that.  As much as I’d love to see NH move Joe into well-earned retirement, I hesitate to count him out before SC, where Mayor Pete could be in big trouble.

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Harry Nilsson narrates “The Point”

I mentioned The Point yesterday. Here it is.  If this clip does not auto-play the next six segments, click through for the playlist. Ah… the memories! Oblio is a Democrat!  RESIST!!

Vote Blue!!

  1. 5:44 I’m not a dawg either.

Cartoon – Well, he’s one of the reasons. There are so many,

DKos – The Super Bowl commercials are so legendary that there are people who only watch the commercials – and there are cuts where one can just watch the commercials one chooses to watch. Who needs the game when you can do that?

MSNBC – The sabotage of Liz is so obvious that everyone sees it. She must really be scaring people (she certainly is scaring corporations, so that’s probably the “people” in question.)

Past – Not familiar with this at all.

  2. Cartoon: Most definitely!
DK: Loved the Bill commercial. I didn’t see the dt one, thank Gawd.
    MSNBC: GO, Ms. Warren, GO!!
BFTP: Loved and still do. I like the happy vibes.

Oh! Sure hope that your upset stomach goes away, and soon! Get a nap in, relax, and rest. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “It is rather amazing that yesterday (or day before)..the sitting president was fined 2M!! $$$ for defrauding 8 charities, and it barely registered as a scandal. ~ Patricia C. ~
    2. “p.s. If you are a masked white nationalist marching in DC, and if you’re proud of your movement, why do you need to hide your face?” ~ Beth M. ~
    3. “Romney knew what he was doing and not even a dunce like donny as-hat is gonna be willing to fight the man.” ~ Michael A. ~
    4. “Q. If Carson is such a ‘great brain surgeon, why hasn’t he done anything to fix dt’s?” ~ Bill K. ~

  3. NOTE To TC:

Putting on my “Medical Mom” outfit …

If memory serves, I think your endoscopy is scheduled in just a little over a week.  You had mentioned that one of your healthcare providers told you that you should definitely get your cardiac tests done prior to that to avoid a rescheduling problems if the GI folks saw they were to be done, but hadn’t been yet.

Since you reported that the cardiac test came back negative, I would recommend you take a hard copy of them with you (if you have one) – or load the PDF report from your Portal onto your phone just in case the GI people did not get the word.

I’ve seen scenarios like that where everyone thinks all the I’s were dotted and T’s crossed – but there was a “failure to communicate”.

If there was nothing in the cardiac results that would raise a concern for your well-being, then I’d just let sleeping dogs lie.  BUT I’d be ready in case the dog woke up and noticed there was no report in the chart – because they’re NOT going to just take your word for it.

    I’ve seen it happen!

    • Thanks, Nameless.  As a Providence Medicare Advantage customer, I use the same portal Providence hospital does, and I have read those test results in the hospital database.  The endoscopy is also at Providence Hospital, so I know they have the records. 04

  4. ‘Toon: Excellent!
DK: Trump last?  Below Pop Tarts?  Just how special is that?
MSNBC: Tomorrow will tell the story.  It is going to be what it is going to be.

  5. I just visited Amy Klobuchar’s site – I LIKE! She’s put a lot on her plate, and even if she is elected she probably won’t get all of that done, but at least she has great plans to undo as much of tRump’s damage as is humanly possible.

  6. Cartoon: Ain’t that the flipping truth?
DK: Bill was great in the commercial.
MSNBC: I’m still rooting for Ms. Warren. I agree with you, TC that he needs to retire.
BFTP: I don’t recognize the tune.
Sorry to hear that you had a bad night. Hope you were able to get some rest during the day.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  7. 3:36 But I’m no dawg either!

Cartoon: If it had been, most of us wouldn’t be here, would we?

DK: I’ve seen Trump’s terrible commercial but none of the others, so I couldn’t say if his ad was the worst. But if USA Today finds that it was rated as the worst, I’ll take that for a fact. Another waste of taxpayer’s money, then?

MSNBC: Keeping my fingers crossed for Liz.

  8. Thanks and sick hugs for all. 🤮
