It’s another crappy day, here in the CatBox, and I ALMOST went back to bed.  Oh well, I get the camera in my gut in less than a month now.  Tomorrow is a High Holy Day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, the Festival of Conference Finality.  May the Orb shine it’s blessed light on your team, if it has survived.  I’ll be out of the saddle on Sunday and Monday.  Sunday is a WWWendy Day and we have a very stinky TomCat and lots of chores to manage.  Please expect no more than a Personal Update or Open Thread.  On Monday I have an appt. with my cardiologist.  If you remember, a few weeks back, I was telling my PCP about my heartburn, when an acid bubble came up my esophagus.  I put up my hand to my chest, winced, and lowered my head in pain.  Megan freaked out.  She slapped on the EKG stickers, and once she realized I wasn’t having a heart attack, she insisted I make an appointment with Lisa.  That was set back a few weeks ago, because TriMet Lift was two hours plus late and could not pick me up until well after my appointment time.  So Monday I hope to publish a Personal Update, and an MLK Day article, prepared a day in advance.  I hope to be back in the saddle Tuesday.  Have a great weekend.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:24 (average 4:27).  I’m amazed I beat the average.  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Cartoon:

Short Takes:

From Alternet: In the past, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine was among the most popular Republicans in New England — a region of the United States that has become increasingly Democratic in recent years. Collins, first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996, was reelected by 17% in 2002, 23% in 2008 and 38% in 2014. But that was before Donald Trump became president, and according to polling by Morning Consult, Collins now enjoys 42% approval and 52% disapproval — making her the most unpopular politician in the U.S. Senate.

During the first quarter of 2017, according to Morning Consult, Collins enjoyed 67% approval in Maine. But the last quarter of 2019 found her overtaking Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in terms of unpopularity.

It could not have happened to a more deserving bitch (apologies to female dawgs)!  Maine… Vote Blue!!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): President Donald Trump Picks Jeffrey Epstein Lawyers For Impeachment

How much do you want to bet that Barrf and the Republican Reich had Epstein killed to cover up their own crimes? Of course Fuhrer Trump* would pick pervert-friendly lawyers. Birds of a feather…  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past):

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

Vote Blue!!

  1. Cartoon: Oh, good Lord! ugh!
AN: What we used to call people (military term) as a brown-noser. She leads the line with the R pack in this category. The only thing missing from her repertoire is more drama, and more violins. She doesn’t deserve the choir, never has.
MSNBC: Birds of a feather flock together…….sadly.
    BFTP: Cool song!

Hi, Wendy! Hope that you have a good day today, and tomorrow too. Best on Monday with your cardiologist and that all goes well. Take good, good care, with your to and fro trips, with you getting home safely. Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “Someone should mention that Ken Starr and Brett Kavanaugh spent years and millions of $$ building a case that a POTUS should be removed from office for misrepresenting the details of a consensual relationship.” ~ Anon ~
    2. “Maybe Putin will grant MM a job in the new Government he is forming.” ~ Cherry S. ~
    3. “Nancy Pelosi angered Repugs by using 30 different personalized pens to sign dt’s impeachment articles served up on silver platters. And not a Sharpie in the lot.” ~ Deborah H. ~
    4. “Jared Kusher on the cover of Time Magazine. So lifelike.” ~ anon ~
    5. “Khashoggi was, and Parnas is, sitting targets. Human life is meaningless to dt if he feels crossed. You are a sitting target.” ~ G.S. ~

  2. Hoping all your medical stuff works out well.
‘Toon:  You’ve used this one before, and it is so spot-on!
Collins is a dog.  Any other descriptors would bring on VERY purple language, and far be it for me to frigging curse!
What Epstein murdered by this crowd of saints?  Parnas may have just saved himself from a severed brake line, at last for now.
Music: I saw PH at the old Palladium, in NYC, in the early ’70’s.  Still love this song.

  3. Puzzle – 3:23

Alternet – I don’t trust Susan Collins. She lies like the rest of the GOP.

    YouTube – The “Dream Team”???

Love that song. Lots of memories.

I hope you’re feeling better soon.

  4. I know the cardiology visit will be a hassle – but I would MUCH RATHER have a conscientious PCP who wants to be sure it was nothing rather than a “If I only had referred Tom …” situation.  But good luck w/ your evaluation.

I’d also recommend asking if they have a Portal so you can communicate online.  And if they do, provide you the code to allow access so you can register.

My PCP, cardiologist, GI, neurologist and dermatologist all have Portals – and they are wonderful!  I can fill out all the paperwork and questionnaires online before I go, and ask non-urgent questions and schedule appointments.  With my hearing deficit, it’s been a most welcomed feature!

No doubt Sue Collins is “Very Concerned” about this poll.  She’s “Our Lady of Perpetual Concern”.

Given how even now yet a Rethuglican every once in a while will claim the Clintons had Norm Foster killed, rather than his documented suicide.  So I was surprised that there wasn’t more bubbling up about AG Barr’s DOJ “bungling” of Epstein’s 24-hour surveillance.

But like you, I’m not convinced it was “bungled” – but rather at Barr’s direction.

I know you don’t want us to publish editorial cartoons – but I don’t see how there’s anything wrong w/ posting links to ones published elsewhere:

  5. You keep in that saddle TomCat the fighter.💌

  6. Take it easy tomorrow, TomCat and try to get a little rest before going to your cardiologist. It may be a waste of time to visit him but better to be safe than sorry as Megan obviously thought.

3:25 Just as delicate as last time.

Cartoon: Those ammosexuals aren’t as stupid as they look; they will not submit to a background check because they know they won’t pass.

Alternet: Collins is one of the few senators I know by name and reputation. As recalling names is a constant struggle for me, more often lost than won, and I can also connect her name to a terrible reputation of selling out to Mitch McConnell time and time again, she must be one of the worst senators in that dreadful pack. I hope there’s a capable Democrat in Maine who’ll take her seat away from her soon.

MSNBC: Trump doesn’t need defence lawyers to acquit him from impeachment, he has the assurance that the Republican Senators will do that no matter what. If the evidence is too overwhelmingly showing his guilt, however, Trump may need to set the minds of his hard-core followers at ease and have them vote for him, so in come the clowns, all chosen for their showmanship during trials.

BFTP: I love this song now as much as I did then. So many memories…

  7. 4:37 I’m not amazed that you beat the average but I am amazed that I matched it (what it was this evening when I did it.)

Thanks for letting us know what to expect. I always appreciate that whoever does that.

Cartoon – Funny how people who can pass background checks never have any problem submitting to them, isn’t it.

Susan (Any relation to Doug?) Collins – She did a better job of concealing her true colors before Trump.

MSNBC – Can there be any doubt that Epstein was murdered? The only doubt is in the details (sort of like the devil that way.)

Past – Oh, yeah, I remember this well. Of course having been been required to learn and play Bach’s “Air on a G string (not what Bach called it)” back in the day when I actually played violin doesn’t hurt.

  8. Cartoon: Have to agree with Lona. They don’t because they know they won’t pass.
Alternet: I have no respect nor trust cOllins,
MSNBC: tRump blows me away with his choices. They are going to make a circus out of his impeachment trial.
    BFTP: Great tune.
I wish that you’d get to feeling better, TC.
Hopefully you had a decent Saturday and will get some sleep tonight.
    Enjoy your Sunday with Wendy.
Good luck at your cardiologist visit on Monday. Will be praying for you.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  9. Thanks and Sunday Hugs to all! 23
